I like FS's plan but I think we should save it for next Thursday.

Color-coded the plan to make it more obvious what we would like to be on-screen vs. offscreen. Blue are scenes, red is prep.

[X] Action Plan: Seal Team 6
Word Count: 294
  • Akane, Haru, Gaku:
    • Bank run update.
    • Hyuga/Hagomoro connections are interesting.
      • Can we track the scrip they spent? (Markings, wood/paper/other distinguishing qualities? Reference Kagome and Jiraiya's notes.)
      • Very pleased with progress. Offer resources: writs from clan head, directly pressuring people, whatever we can provide.
    • Tone: Haru is doing a great job, we want to enable his work without interfering.
  • Sealmaster Coalition
    • Prep (Offscreen)
      • Kumokogo
        • Could you defeat a Dragon independently? How much help would you need?
        • How easy would it be to separate and ambush a single Dragon?
        • Do they have any known weaknesses?
        • What info should/can Hazou share?
      • Asuma
        • When Hazou's medium consequences heal, pitch the coalition to Asuma, request Asuma's attendance at meetings, availability permitting.
          • Possibly ask Enma to go in his stead?
        • Provide a summary of all discussions for Asuma.
      • Tsunade
        • Tips for working with Orochimaru?
    • Request the attendance of Leaf's Sealmasters and Summoners, with Asuma's backing if provided. Request that Summoners summon a Clan Representative.
    • Explain what Hazou knows of the Great Seal and the Dragons, hand out copies of the Great Seal made with Kagome's help.
      • Emphasize that one mostly-depowered Dragon massacred a battalion of Summons without injury, and could reach this Path at full power.
      • Share Kumokogo's threat estimate of the Dragons and any information she wants passed on.
      • Any information Summon Clans are willing to disclose would be greatly appreciated.
      • Hazou has extensive notes on the Great Seal, but this project is beyond any one person. Understanding and fixing the seal will require everyone.
        • One team should research fixing the seal, another should begin devising weapons for Summoners to use, since only they can reach the threat.
          • Ask who would prefer what research team.
          • Does anyone know anything about shaping stone seals?

I'm removing the color coding because it was searing my eyeballs. If you want to do it in the future, please choose more saturated colors and there's no need to color-code both the parts you do want to have onscreen and the parts you do not want to have onscreen.

Could we reverse summon an entire bathtub? We can summon our own clothes and stuff right?
"Thank you for coming, Specialist," Hazō said politely. "Am I correct that you would be able to carry objects back to the Seventh Path with you? Say, something about a hundred and eighty pounds and a little under six feet long?" He wasn't actually sure if the pangolin could or not; he'd seen them appear with things but he couldn't offhand remember if they'd ever taken anything back. Still, the assassin would be smart enough to pick up the cue.

"Yes, although I do not take orders from you."
Keiko can bring water back from the Seventh Path, but only what she can carry. You also don't know if Vampiric Dew would treat extraplanar water as real water or as construct water for purposes of draining.
tl;dr Yes, probably.

Random thought: Hazou used MEW to build the Goketsu Compound, with Noburi's help. Akane can literally say that her partner built her a home. That's sweet ^.^

@FaintlySorcerous I expect to see this in your plan

...In fact, it's a very plausible reason Hazou hears about the whole Mari thing in the first place

Vel indicated that we could assume we get the details (at least, one side of the story) from Keiko pretty early on.

Are we mostly looking to declare that we store the seal-powered hot tub and provide it to the Isan team with strict 'do not open before' instructions?

Yeah I'm sure Vel would come up with a reasonable explanation for it to have come up regardless

Keiko can just keep it on the 7th path until Mari's birthday

A thought.

You know how in Lord of the Rings, Naming something is huge, and that (iirc) the longer an item's Name, the more powerful the item? Well, it's very nearly the complete opposite in MfD, with regard to Aura. Jiraiya's already mentioned that the key to Aura is "oneness of the self" and that Mari's said that it's an expression of one's experience, and that this is why older ninja tend to have stronger/more powerful souls.

And this fits with the Outer Insight gained from Hazou bleeding into the Out. Jiraiya is "Poetsoul," Asuma is "Firesoul," Orochimaru is "Poisonflenser," Minato was "Sparkdancer," and so on. So Jonin True Names are one, singular word. And then Akane is "Shining Heart" and Shikamaru is "Shadowed Mind." And this fits. They're chuunin. Strong chunnin, to be sure --possibly even special jonin --but they're not True Jonin, because their True Names aren't singular.

Kagome is, of course, "Kagome."

(The fact that Out!Hazou never hears his True Name --or even his birth name --is beginning to scare me. Is it indicative of a lack of self-awareness, or a need for introspection? Or is it a symptom of something worse?)

I think that the mundane explanation is that you don't tend to think about yourself in terms of your name. When I think, I think 'I' and 'me'.

Now, if we can get Hazo to want to find out what his True Name is, then maybe we can get into some trouble.

I recall that there was an EJ update where we sparred with Mari (kind of, she avoided it to keep from hurting Hazou's pride, because he's her Clan Head and her son, which could've been problematic for her). Hazou meditated and tried introspection, but "failed to unlock the secrets of his soul" and went to go eat dinner with his family.

QMs: "Okay, so the player character is horribly wounded, eldritch Dragons are still regaining their power at a terrifying rate, your found family is falling apart while in the middle of an enemy country, and the new member of the Polycule may be scared of the new relationship. What do you do?"

HIVEMIND: "...Bathtubs."

Do you think if we interpret the oscillations in frequency correctly we can derive information from the pitch of faflec's screaming?

In the real world, it wasn't invented until the 16th century.
Maybe, but not due to any reasons that break suspension of disbelief in a fantasy world. Invention of food recipes that don't need any special equipment is different from technological inventions IMO. Either nobody thought of taking the intermediate state of milk and butter, sweetening it, whipping it (but not too much) and putting it on top of other desserts, or some people did try and ended up not liking it enough to show anyone outside their family.

Anyway, it's not that I care whether the EN have or don't have whipped cream any more than I care whether they do or don't have pizza. But if a nation known to be a holiday destination/neutral meeting place makes it across its country then what is essentially an easy recipe remaining a secret, that's what breaks my suspension of disbelief. A sole establishment might keep their secrets of how to make the best, most fluffy, most lasting whipped cream with that extra special flavor infusion secret, but any visitor who has ever made butter and tasted the intermediate states of his product will know that it's cream and will have an idea of how to make it fluffy. Seriously, just look up "how to make whipped cream by hand". How would you keep that a national secret, let alone from ninja?
