Respectively: Yes, no, no....are summon scrolls country scale expenses? Can we just buy out all of some other country's food and then trade it for their summon scrolls?
is messing with the checks and balances of the economic system. Even if we are benevolent, our successor might not be. Our minions might not be (look at Gaku and Mari with teh chocolate). We can't watch al our minions. An unchecked corruption could cause bring the economic system down to a lower Nash equilibrum."Yup! Once all the regulations are out of our way, we'll be able to control the entire market. Merely by crooking our fingers we'll be able to shut down any business we dislike, force any merchant to sell us anything at whatever price we specify, and choke enemy clans into submission by raising prices on everything so high that it's beyond their ability to pay and they end up mortgaging their souls to us in order to eat."
I clarifying statement: My earlier statement was poorly phrased and will be corrected to the following:
This update establishes the fact that the players no longer need to worry about setting up revenue streams, because your experts are doing that in the background. This is not a guarantee that there will be no economic problems. The clan has a solid financial footing, a good amount of liquid reserves and plenty of non-liquid reserves, and as of now it has more income than expenses. It's possible that Mari's scheme, or one of the other things going on in the background, will explode and cause problems for you. That's a special event. The basic economic stuff is dealt with and you don't need to worry about it further.
[X] Prize Preferences: The second choice changed
1) Dog Scroll
2) Clan seat + adoption slots
3) Land
4) Ebisu time + jutsu
5) Money pile
That's a...good point. So I'm viewing the clan seat option as just something we shouldn't touch with a ten foot pole since its almost assuredly going to be the KEI faction's choice, and everyone there will be super mad with us if we pick it, and I don't want to chance burning those bridges lol
Translation: We'll be so freaking rich we'll maybe even be able to get a telescope."I...see," Hazō said. "Well, that sounds positive."

Money was never the limiting factor in getting a telescope. We're ninja, not law-abiding civilians.Translation: We'll be so freaking rich we'll maybe even be able to get a telescope.

Some worries:
Mari and Gaku ok'd sabotaging coffee fields. Not very Uplift. If discovered won't be terrible since standard ninja stuff in nina views. But might make it harder for us to pull other ninja into better Uplift morals.
Abolition of merchant council. We are clos eto getting a majority vote anyway. Nnija can usually get whatever businesses they want, just need ing to wait a bit for approval. The merchant council was made to help protect civilians against ninja, a very rare instance in ninja society.
Both this and the below

edit:
oh, also mari didn't tell us this beforhand, which is worrying.
This implies our second character won't immediately beeline the Goketsu Estate and try to join upIf we do die, them the quest has ended and it's no longer our concern what our successors do.
Also, if Hazou is later resurrected we probably continue playing from that point. This implies our second character won't immediately beeline the Goketsu Estate and try to join up
More seriously, Hazou may be the inventor of Uplift but Team Uplift will continue without us if it has to, and while without Hazou they lose some of the most innovative pushes forwards they are still a formidable force on the side of Uplift. Since our future characters will inevitably converge on Uplift-esque ideologies if we play them long enough, whether Team Uplift remains a powerful force advancing Uplift inthe world is still our concern.
Would our massive merchant spy network help?Money was never the limiting factor in getting a telescope. We're ninja, not law-abiding civilians.
I second that. I feel as if it exempts us from all taxes we would be rolling in so much money we could basically buy small countries. Do something like Ireland with the tax law, and see the money roll in. And then add in the fact that all businesses under the Goketu Estate are exempt from taxes would give us a huge leg up on any competitors for any business opportunity, basically guaranteeing we would become the Amazon of the world, where the places that we decide to set up, the local areas would change their laws and try to appease us to come and set up factories.
I don't think that it would apply to the businesses underneath us, at least not to the ones that aren't official. Wouldn't that cause a massive loss for the Tower?I second that. Hazō does not have those answers and therefore I cannot relay them to you at this time
