I think we should focus on one business proposal at a time. Also, 'pressure' is not the right word. Work with the MC to speed up setup is a good idea.
Fair enough, though I'll leave it IC which one is pushed forward. Not entirely sure which is the best, so Mari probably knows better than us on how to push things.
Right, this is a combination of my previous plan (which wasn't implemented AFAIK), and some other things we could do based on new information. Also, @Cariyaga, I really hope this version satisfies your "give Chouza hugs" urge.

[X] Action Plan: Something Old, Something New
Word Count: 299

Get the clan's approval first.
  • Everyone: Iwa's actions are weird. If they're responsible, why didn't they attack earlier? They're probably gathering intel on our forces, but then why treat even civilians well?
    • Is Akatsuki involved? Maybe they obliterated Iwa, and they're trying to ingratiate themselves to Leaf.
    • Are they trying to subvert the population? How effective would that be?
  • Spend most of our time helping (and comforting) the current leadership (Asuma, Shikamaru, Chouza). Make ourselves indispensible to them.
    • Mari, what can we do to help lighten the burden of their tasks? Especially Asuma/Shikamaru, they must be at the end of their ropes.
    • Chouza's probably beside himself with survivor's guilt; he's one of the few surviving Clan Heads. Hazou still may be compromised, but someone else can surely check up on him.
    • Possible suggestions for the top brass to implement:
      • Investigate the relief party's story.
        • Send (airborne) scouts to the border, check what forces are amassing.
        • Verify their story. Where's the lumber merchant they were escorting?
      • Contact Suna. They might have been hit too.
      • Use Skywalkers en masse as a show of strength.
      • Leverage Ami, either by demonstrating Mist's already helping or by present a strong Leaf-Mist alliance to deter an attack.
      • Instate Asuma as Hokage, demonstrating Leaf's still unified and capable of fighting back.
      • Reveal Orochimaru's survival, as an invasion would pit him against Iwa.
  • In our spare time, try to improve our personal power.
    • Hazou, Kagome: Sealing.
      • Work on Jiraiya's notes, both IN-memorizing them and studying high-impact seals they can learn.
      • Start on that sealing backlog.
    • Noburi: Try to get some Summoning training done, if Asuma/Keiko can spare the time.
    • Mari: Work with the MC to speed up approval of ONE of our proposals, whichever she thinks is best.
    • Akane: <I'll think of something, I promise!>

Are you sure we should spend that much time on trying to help and comfort them?

I prefer a mixture of short, medium, and long term goals, and not all focused on gaining long-term powers. We still have a camp to run, and shelters to construct, since we're apparently still living in tents.

More on the "help" part, but yes. Making ourselves indispensable to what is likely to be the next Hokage and close supporter is what Shikaku was doing to Jiraiya.

It's really that bad? Damn. Probably be for the best that we start cutting the nearby woods down for lumber, though we'd want to make sure it's usable for construction.

I'll make a point to add that later, on my phone now so big edits are a pain.

Yes. We're still living in tents. I am sure more shelters are being constructed, though.

The Gōketsu 'dining room' (and sleeping quarters, and and and...) was a large canvas tent squatting in the middle of the Forest of Death a mile outside the walls of Leaf on land that the clan did not, speaking very technically, own. Still, it was what they had and there was nothing to do but make the best of it. Especially since the several hundred people, civilians and ninja both, who shared the encampment had nothing better. Mari had complimented Hazō on recognizing the wisdom of ensuring that the Gōketsu quarters were larger but not better than anyone else's; it struck, she said, a good balance between projecting authority and importance while also demonstrating solidarity and concern.
"Well, I did that," Noburi said, sounding dubious.

The clan was gathered back around the table, which this time groaned with dinner-type foods. A half-dozen lamps lit the tent but also threw shadows everywhere. From outside the canvas walls, the noises of civilians and ninja settling in for dinner and sleep were clearly audible. As was, very faintly, the quiet sobbing from the next tent over, where Kimura Tsubame mourned her husband of forty years, her son of sixteen, and her daughter-in-law of two months.

  • Noburi: Try to get some Summoning training done, if Asuma/Keiko can spare the time.

Do we really think that they have time? Asuma needs to run the whole village via Naruto and Shikamaru already and Keiko is doing helpful Nara things. Maybe just send him to help ? Give Naruto/Asuma + whoever chakra? Or just have him help Shikamaru and send Mari only after Asuma and Choza? Don't want to overwork her.

Recalling what progress we made when we did our sealing research but that wasn't covered in the update is a good start. Which I have added to my plan.
[x] Action Plan: Quick Seal Recall
Take 5 min to recall the sealing notes you received from jiraiya. And that you bought from the Tower before the attack. (Use 1 FP to have bought at least 100 copies of every seal the Tower offered). Also recall the jutsu that the Tower offered before the attack, and the sealing research progress you have already made.

Let me know if there are things you guys wanted to implement.
I'm a bit lazy right now but looking at the action plans I have made currently and in previous updates would give you a crude estimate.

"It's not that," Mari said. "It's just the way Shadow Clone works; it's not like the Elemental Clone techniques. With Water or Earth Clones you pay the startup cost and then you put as much extra chakra into them as you want, so that they can use jutsu or whatever. With Shadow Clones, you pay the startup cost but then your chakra is divided among all the clones you create. Here's the thing: It's your internal chakra that gets divided. The way the Wakahisa bloodline works, you have almost no internal chakra. It's all in the barrel, and...." She hesitated. "Okay, the next part got pretty technical and I'm not sure I followed it in full detail. I wasn't clear on whether the jutsu wouldn't recognize the chakra in your barrel as yours, since it originally came from other sources, or whether it simply wouldn't be able to pull it out of the barrel fast enough." She looked around the table with a serious expression. "Shadow Clone is dangerous. Most jutsu, if you try to cast them but you don't have enough chakra, the jutsu will simply fail. Shadow Clone won't. It will suck you dry and you'll be dead of chakra exhaustion before you hit the ground. That's why Jiraiya was so adamant that you all have huge reserves before he would let you learn it."

Just a random thought, Naruto's bioseal seem to count as an internal chakra source (unless he doesn't normally draws kyuubi chakra and it just helped his own chakra pool to grow enormously), probably a far off goal, but if we can make a crappy version that just stores some charka for a while, Noburi might be able to use the shadow clone?

Basically:
Barrel -> Bioseal -> SC

So like the Strength of 100.

Note to self: Clarify that Hazou is to be doing seal theory and helping organize Jiraiya's notes, not doing his own infusions and the like.

  • 3 semi-crippled chūnin (missing leg; missing arm; horrific burns down her entire right side)

I would like to note that we have the perfect chance to (in theory, we still need to personally see how useful they could be) recruit three loyal minions for support duties.
Sealing/Medical assistants that don't need to go on mission and can just pass all their free time researching our projects? Ninja to use to expand our influence, because Mari can only be in one place? An example to show the clanless ninja that we are on their side? Extremely loyal minion that we personally saved from poverty(And death) just like Ami would do?

Skysliders is a good option but also something that can be done while doing other things. Origami, after all.

Just put in a bit that gives OliWhail leeway to write his scene. If you're that worried about Hazou hugging Chouza fucking everything up you don't I guess, but I seriously doubt that @OliWhail would write it such that it fucks stuff up.

Akane's friends with Ino, right? She should check in with her and Chouji, make sure they're okay, and also ask if there's anything we can do for Shikamaru.

Here's (what will be) a few seal ideas @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail

Water Condensation Seal
When activated, this seal condenses a set volume of water into the space above (relative to the seal's position, not absolute) the seal. It may be usable multiple times, though without being waterproofed it's inadvisable.

In particularly humid areas (such as Leaf), there's no outward effect on the enviornment or oneself. In particularly dry areas (such as Sand), it can cause a mild consequence by drying one's eyes/throat, though its drain only affects places open to the air.

@eaglejarl, @Velorien, @OliWhail, would it be reasonable to spend a FP for Hazou to have sometime before the attack gone to the Tower and downloaded all the seals they'd show him? It's something I think we might like to do (and I recall sentiment in that direction from before the attack), and could prove valuable now that those seals are 60 feet under.

Of course, it would be unreasonable to ask you to design every seal the Tower had in its stores, but what you could do is give us non-committal generalities (like "37 storage seal variants, five of which are various jumbo-sized seals") and any specifics you're happy to include, and let us submit ideas in the meantime to help fill in gaps. That way you'd only be fully designing the seals one at a time as we pick out individual seals to research, and you can redact ideas from the pile if you change your mind about whether they make sense to include.

It may be helpful to figure out the mechanic for this.

Hivemind and Character Improvement Initiative: A list of proposals for implementing anti-frustration features and better performance by both hivemind and MC according to a naked mole rat.

Hazo:
* Greater autonomy. Hazo will be able to develop and do things on his own without needing the hivemind help. This benefit us by smoothing over "bumpy" parts of social and political interaction, while the hivemind focus on strategic direction. This required changes to gameplay that may never be implemented.
* Better politician: He should be able to react and understand the political environment better. Solution: Accompany Mari on business.

Hivemind:
* Character analysis incentive: Good analysis let us place into the context of target characters we may need to interact with. To make the hivemind do this consistently, 1 XP is a good idea.
* Character analysis: We need to do them.
* Short, usable, constantly updated checklists. We need to start using them more.
* Early planning: Getting more plans out and early let us focus on improving them instead of panicking.
* More plans: Diversity prevents us from pigeonholing into one plan.
* Veto vote: Use in case of emergency. A veto vote have extra weighted consideration, like three times the normal weight of a vote. Can only be used every five-ten updates or so.

Clarify the detail on the veto vote. A veto vote would have 3 times the normal vote, but it cannot be used by anyone for five-ten updates after somebody used it.

Posting on a phone.

[X] Action Plan: Be prepared.

Get Mari's approval:
  • To higher up:
    • Prep a skywalker strike squad to be used in case of attacks by an enemy force. Equipped with youthenizers and 12-SINs for retaliatory strike.
    • Deploy skytowers against further incursion and monitoring of Iwa relief force. Or does Leaf wants to keep that as a trump card?
    • Have scouts been deployed? May be a good idea to contact our allies ASAP.
    • Volunteer to contact Mist.
  • Keep informed on negotiation.
  • Continue to improve the living condition inside the camp. People shouldn't have to live in tents.
  • Improve defensive posture if we have time.
  • Mari: Help setup the storage bank/seal subscription business. We could do both, but charge higher for more labor intensive subscription.
  • Noburi: Focus on learning from Asuma/Keiko on summoning if there's time.
  • Akane: Outreach to camp.
  • Kagome: Continue decoding Jiraiya's note/seal research. Hazo will assists.

Updated my action plan.
