Before any training plans are implemented, remember that Hazou's XP total hasn't been updated since Ch282 (last non-interlude chapter was Ch288).

Ugh.

I'm several chapters behind on awarding XP and FP and wading through it all is ughy right now. I'm happy to pay +1XP if someone else will:
  • Provide links to each chapter where there should have been FP / XP awarded but they aren't on the character sheets
  • Label each of those links with how many FP should have been awarded and to whom. (e.g., I know that Noburi is due one for his face getting ripped open)

If someone else is willing to calculate FP awards (not it!) then we can claim this +1XP. Otherwise...

XP AWARD: TBD

Author's Note:
I'm a little torn on XP for this plan. On the one hand, there was a lot of fun stuff in there and it was well thought out, so it deserves a high per diem. On the other hand, there was a lot of stuff in there, vastly more than could possibly have appeared in one update—it feels like it was the entire Plan Cache dumped into a single plan. That makes me want to bring the award down. Overall, I'm going to call it 3.5 XP/day. I think the update covers 3 days, but it might be 4. I'll figure it out later, after I eat something or possibly tomorrow.

...these are all the XP awards placed at the end of chapters 283 onwards. Note that a couple of chapters did not have awards (presumably because they stopped in the middle of a conversation).

Plus another XP for timeline stuff, which we immediately proceeded to do.

Edit: No idea about FP, there've been zero updates on that since 282.

I'm very confused by this. You want to invent something like Settlers of Cataan, but with a realistic enough set of rules and resources that you can actually gather useful information about how to build villages? I can only think that the rules for that would need to be insanely complex. Hazō has no experience designing board games, so it's pretty much certain that whatever he comes up with is going to be full of holes, poor balance, and exploits. (He said, speaking from recent experience.)

So, if I'm understanding this, you want to:
A) Create the game
B) Make it popular enough that people are willing to pay licensing fees to play it
C) Turn it into a gambling game where significant numbers of players are betting meaningful amounts of money.

I hate to be a killjoy, but there is zero chance of making this work, especially given the short time frame. You should really scrap this part of the plan. If you want to gather information without being known as ninja, just take off your forehead protectors and walk into town dressed in civilian clothes. (Which, yes, you have with you.) Or, if you don't like the idea of hunters, try passing yourselves off as homesteaders whose lord has assigned you to go to point X and start clearing land for his next set of farms.

(EDIT: If you want help coming up with plans for how to build villages, talk to people who live in villages. If you want help optimizing those plans, talk to Keiko. She studied logistics and has the Frozen Skein.)
Huh, I thought those games he played were mostly all his idea. I thought he could be abstract the details but this falls apart if not. Oh well.

I'll scrap that out.

I'm going to be lazy on the FPs: Noburi burned all of his. By the time we get back to the village he will be at the passive growth limit for them, by time alone. If he hit it a day or two sooner isnt really relevant as far as I know. And so isnt worth the time going through the chapters and arguing over what was/was not worth a FP.

Keiko obviously is unchanged.

I'll need to check of Akane and Hazou even burned any.

Okay, so Akane did not burn any FP in 283, so hasn't burned any since the character sheet. I'll let others decide if she went above and beyond to get over the hump there.

Hazou burned one two FP in 283. He probably earned it them back in the summoning scroll incident.

Okay, game board idea scrapped.

Thanks for the feedback btw, @eaglejarl

-We could take a page from Oneiros and chill a little bit at TG.
-Maybe get some light pocket money at the gambling area.
-We could also try and devote more time to till n fill evangalism.
Establishing a spy network. Or checking on the status of Jiraiya's. I'd think this would be time sensitive.

    • Review potential impacts and impediments (Merchant council, local, leaf clan interference, laws, etc) of other Uplift projects.
      • Tell team about Uplift portion of plan to solve this.
Swamp Trek:
  • Map out interesting areas and record unusual activity.
    • Make storage seals and collect interesting Chakra beasts or plant samples.
      • Keep Noburi's interest in mind.
      • Gather material to either sell your basement destruction bluff to Kabuto or as deal sweeteners.
      • Gather bribery material for Uplift portion of plan.
  • If asked about Swamp's history give a sanitized story from Hazo's view.
    • Give a farewell to the fallen.
  • Spend 3 days.
Chakra Beast Mission:
  • Exterminate targets.
    • Collect samples
Uplift:
  • Use recon on Tanzaku Gai area.
    • Warm Naruto to Uplift ideas.
    • Use bribes and disguise kits if recon is hindered by Clan or ninja status.
    • If some chakra flora and fauna can be sold, do so.
    • Compare the perspectives of poorer villages vs TG and how Uplift could impact both.
      • Identify possible assets (merchants, Jiraiya's network?, artisans, underworld, etc) and impediments (legalities?) to uplift development.
  • Use data to test designs and layouts. Use Kagome's construction book, builder feedback, laws, TGs town layout, etc.
    • Implement building.
      • If not feasible, provide alternatives.(Till n fill info, subsidy, etc).
  • Take time to relax as needed.

Notes:

Additions and changes made.

I'm more conservative on the geoengineering part. I don't think we need to broadcast our fingerprints on this too loudly just yet. I want Hazo to really do the leg work in mull Uplft projects over while getting things done at the same time. I was thinking of teaching KEI geoengineering and meshing it with uplifting villages. Maybe this would be explained as border strengthening?

[X] Action Plan: Swamp RnR
[X] Action Plan: Goketsu beach party

I'm going to be away from reasonable cell coverage for the next few days, and I hope to return to a nice and productive update with hopefully little screaming.

Anyway @eaglejarl:
  • Akane is still at 7 FP, unless the blot incident earned her one. I'm not even going to try to argue that either way.
  • Noburi burned all 12 of his in 283; he should be at 7 by now, with two re-earned during 283 and the rest regained by regular updates.
  • Hazou burned two in 283; he would have been at 6 or 7 (depending on what you consider a substantial update) at the summoning scroll incident, which is probably worth two, as a mental conflict rather than a physical one.
  • Keiko is entirely unchanged.
In short:
  • Akane: 7
  • Noburi: 7
  • Hazou: 9
  • Keiko: 7

  • Decompress.
  • Thank Naruto for his cooperation and understanding.
  • Thank Akane for saving Kagome.
  • Review the Seal Failure (Converse when convenient).
    • Shelf SINs

      • Tell team about Uplift portion of plan to solve this.

OK. I see a major problem with this: making the QM do the work for you, especially regarding the complicated subject of upending/upsurping the merchant council and the resulting fallout on the economic system.

Are we serious about destroying the basement or not? Otherwise, I am hearing "bluff destroying the basement".

Uplift:
  • Use recon on Tanzaku Gai area.
    • Warm Naruto to Uplift ideas.
    • Use bribes and disguise kits if recon is hindered by Clan or ninja status.
    • If some chakra flora and fauna can be sold, do so.

TG is likely to be poorer than Leaf proper. And the village are likely to be poorer the further they are away from TG. Take that into account.

Don't forget: there's at least one settlement near or in Swamp.

You know what, I'm starting to think tracking down Jaraiyas network or rebuilding it would help tremendously with this. We have a brain meat and man power shortage problem. And having 4 heads trying to puzzle it all out does dump more on the QMs.

Are we serious about destroying the basement or not? Otherwise, I am hearing "bluff destroying the basement".

Its a bluff. I thought we could get samples to either put more pressure on Kabuto or reel him in with interesting specimens from the basement (swamp). Gives us more options with him without going back down there.

We can pivot to actually wrecking it later if need be.

I coukd have the tram concentrate on villages and track down J's network in TG.

That work?

Note that's it's January, so the temperature is around freezing and there's a foot of snow on the ground. Freezing the water will be no problem but even with help from Elemental Mastery you'll need enormous amounts of wood to boil meaningful amounts of water.
Okay I'm really confused by this. I thought the elemental nations had incredibly climate changes. Which is why we compared Snow to Siberia and that Mist is a tropical island. I was thinking this was equivalent to the Gulf of Mexico which is in the 60's Fahrenheit in January. But even in New England there isn't snow on the ground on the beach is there? If there is a ton of snow though guess we will change it to a snow party

Seriously. Go back home to do the party, relax* in the hot springs with the rest of the clan.

*I'd have said to chill, but...

@Kiba @Sentient Tree @faflec

How's this?
The plan concentrates more on building up villages and tracking down Jiraiya's network.

Also included a dash of seal research.

Anything else?

I recall people originally saying not to conduct seal research on the mission cause it would take too long to set up the necessary precautions. SINs were an exception because we weren't actually making a new seal, just using it unconventionally. If you want to use our existing seals in unconventional ways that should be fine.

Especially seek out Jiraiya's contact/network
We have some of Jiraiya's old romance books that we could try looking into for spy network codes. The info might be too outdated to be useful though.

NB: We have explicit contact info for some of his black market contacts IIRC that he left us in his will.

Naruto might have more.

Just leaving this here so people don't have to constantly go back to the original quote. (I took the "X" out of it).

I could well be wrong. It's been repeatedly stated that there's a ton of snow on the ground in Leaf, so that's one factor. I guess it depends on where you want to set up your salterns -- I had thought you'd be putting them at the ocean beach closest to Leaf, which would be just off the southernmost tip of Hot Springs. That's basically due east from Leaf, so I was assuming it would have equivalent weather. A little Googling tells me that the area around Tokyo is generally in the high-30s / low-40s in January but mumble mumble need to justify the snow in Leaf so...uh...chakra! Bleh. Still, you're right that there probably isn't snow on the beach.

Just a quick reminder: Y'all have a three week mission in which you are expected to clear out all dangerous chakra beasts within 5 miles of Tanzaku Gai. That's a lot of ground to cover, and you're currently somewhere around the final 'S' in "Hidden Grass Village", so it'll take you 4-5 hours just to get to Tanzaku Gai. My headcanon is that you left Leaf about 3 days ago, but I haven't actually mathed on it. I'll adjust that if there's good reason -- I was basically thinking 1 to 1.5 days traveling (to your initial testing location and then from there to the Swamp) and 1 to 1.5 days experimenting.

EDIT: Also, you're right that the ocean is swimmable. Unpleasant, but swimmable.
