Have we tried transferring it to an animal or chakra beast yet?
No, we need to find one. That's plan A for sure. Plan B is to find someone else we don't care about to foist it off on.

I'm wondering if the rate of growth can be slowed by having one of them exhaust their chakra then take it, though that is dangerous for obvious reasons.

@QMs, Would Hazou reject a plan of going straight to killing Kagome/Akane, or following Kagome's orders (even if Kagome orders to kill himself/akane)? answer: yes

We could try stacking defensive jutsu on them in the hopes they survive an implosion seal

We could ask Kagome to guess what caused the seal failure, in the hopes it'll give an answer on how to solve it.

We could ask Kagome what to do if we kill him and the seal failure is still going.

We should also dispel.

We can ask the others what we did when we were blacked out.

We can use Living Roots to look for underground critters

We can investigate the sin blast sites, and investigate the unactivate sin stacks

Ask Kagome whether transferring it onto another creature and letting the seal complete might trigger an enormous explosion that kills everyone anyway. And whether killing the person with the seal might also trigger it.

Tell Kagome what happened when you read the summoning scroll. Your mental condition might be why you and not others reacted to approaching Kagome.

Hazou's gibberish when he read the summoning scroll might tell us how to solve this

Have Hazou remember the summoning scroll incident, to get out of shift with reality and possibly learn answers (recall hazou was able to see through his eyes, learn about hyuuga's voice, and learn kagome had bigger implosion seals last time it happened).

We can ask Naruto's tummy whether it knows how to deal with this

Could transfer the seal to Hazou to see whether there are any unique interactions

Have Hazou look at normal seals, and then the unexploded implosion stacks to see if the implosion seals still look like they are "gleaming with fell purpose", and whether the normal seals have no effect

Well, this is exciting. Thanks for the chapter @eaglejarl, it was very gripping. For the record, is this close enough to punching to make you happy? We can easily cause more interesting sealing failures.

Also, if you keep pumping chakra into it by way of chakra adhesion or repulsion then it gets heavier faster but it gets hotter slower and draws the seal slower.

This part is pretty interesting. I would have assumed that the subject jumps to chakra-capable hosts because it needs their chakra to fuel itself. Logically, that would have implied that it should go faster when fed additional chakra. However, not only does it slow down, the weight increase speeds up. If more chakra translates to weight, where does it get chakra for its normal weight gain?

It would be funny if this was some kind of blocking mechanism - the seal jumps to people to stop itself from completing. If we actually manage to remove it, it'll complete instantly and detonate, wiping out the continent.

Killing them is unwise. This may be a 13-deep SIN building on them. And death may be the trigger.
Maybe, it is good to know what options we have though. Even if we don't act on them. And Kagome thought killing himself was a good idea, although he's been suspiciously quiet about that since the seal got on Akane.

Alternatively, letting the seal complete might trigger the 13 SIN, and killing them might stop it.

That was when he thought it was some kind of creature feeding off him, not a seal building up on him.

Since we have a good idea that sealing failures are linked to the seals that caused them, do we have a detailed description of what exactly the implosion seal is doing? Might give us a hint as to what is happening here.

It seems like it's maybe sealing the air around the person being infected, and the feeling of being used as a storage scroll is likely both what is causing the feeling of increased weight, as well as increased heat. Chakra touching it is likely also causing the reset because you can't store chakra in a storage scroll. What would happen if we let the pseudo-seal fill with the air in another bunker like the ones we built to fill the seals, and then presumably have there no longer be air left? Not sure how long ninja can hold their breath, especially in a theoretically true vacuum, but maybe that could short-circuit it?

If you're going to go so far as to suggest we use someone on their death bed, why not just try the Aburame first?
They can get a bug to lay a feed signal down, send a different bug over and then cut it loose from control so it can do whatever it wants (which will likely be following the feed signal).

"It's heavy and getting heavier. It's hot and getting hotter. It's got an implosion seal growing across it. It jumps to anyone who puts chakra on it and that resets the heat, weight, and seal."
So far a few elements have been noted: Weight, Heat, and Seal Progression. All elements are increasing in strength/progressing towards completion but can be modified.
1) Transferring the Anomaly resets Weight, Heat, and Progression
2) Pumping chakra into it increases Weight but slows Heat and Seal

I guess the latter is an indication that Weight = Potency of the final result, but that requires more experimentation which is complicated by this element

There is an indication that it can be interacted with using a physical medium here
The rest of the team watched with bated breath as he tugged the heavy fur garment up over his head, keeping the material well away from his face as he did. The blotch stayed happily anchored to the jacket throughout the process...except that when Kagome-sensei finished removing the jacket, the blotch was now on his shirt.
and
Didn't work; before the blast, it was on his shirt. After the blast, it was on his chest. Couldn't see anything in between, definitely didn't see it move."

However, based on the result it doesn't seem to be damaged by kinetics nor does it interact with seals (at least not average ones)
"CircadianRhythmBoy is asking if you tried pulling it onto a seal."

"Yeah. I tried it with a Party Trick, both active and not. Didn't work."

Experimentation is complicated by the following line, which basically means the only elements we have to experiment with are Akane and Kagome.
"Oh, also, he's insisting that he and Akane are in quarantine, so you and I need to stay away from them."

I'd say the first experiment should be doing the transfer again and seeing if it will jump to another surface like a cloth held over their chest rather than just clothes they're wearing. Then you can move the surface away without destroying it or causing the Anomaly to fall off the edge.
This will help determine the following.
1) Whether or not the Anomaly actually interacts with the surface or is simply visible through all of them. (in the latter case it might be drawing the seal in multiple locations stretching out from Kagome, so thats a concern too)
2) If it interacts with the surface, how far it can be removed before it slips and if the positioning matters.

If we can get it unto a cloth then we should be able to at least physically seperate the mark from the target, which may provide us a level of security for further experimentation without violating quarantine.
If there's no tether you can try putting a MEW between them too and see if it can be successfully contained that way.
More options to come.

If we transfer it to a chakra beast, we need to ensure the beast is far away from anything important, in case this is a 13-SIN.

Keep transferring between Akane and Kagome every hour. We can keep this up for literally weeks if they're willing to powernap without getting a full night's sleep. The situation does not appear urgent.

I'm tempted to set up a quarantine base for them to live in, with Naruto sending clones back to Konoha to consult with other sealmasters and medics.

We can try a dispel to dis lodge it. It seems to like the steady flow of a chakra network, and requires adjustment each time it latches onto a new one.

If we disrupt that chakra flow, it might not be able to stick to said persons chakra.

Akane and Kagome can try that during the next transfer.

Even if it doesn't dislodge said creature, I'd think it would at least allow reseting without transfering.

@eaglejarl

Roughly where are we at the moment?
Underneath the bottom-left serif of the 'R' in "Land of Fire". (Link to map on first page.)

Does someone needs to use chakra to move the blotch?
Yes, although touching it without use of chakra is painful for both parties.

Would Hazou reject a plan of going straight to killing Kagome/Akane, or following Kagome's orders (even if Kagome orders to kill himself/akane)?
Yes. He is not willing to kill them until he has exhausted all other options, and possibly not even then. After losing his father, his mother (essentially), Jiraiya, and Mari (sort of), he's not willing to lose anyone else is there is any possible alternative.

For the record, is this close enough to punching to make you happy? We can easily cause more interesting sealing failures.
It is, yes. Thanks for asking. :>

How close are we to Rain? If Noburi was serious about the rain being chakra-saturated, we might be able to transfer the technique to whoever's using the technique, or to their Sealing failure if the rain is one of those.

Also, Hazou should have studied Mist's Night Light seals, if those burn chakra I wonder what would happen if these seals interacted.

So the implosion seal stayed on Kagome's shirt until he completely removed it, right? If it transfers between people onto clothing, we could try to have whoever has the seal take the piece of cloth it's on most of the way off and seal that in a box.

One implosion seal inside a MEW box apparently had a fairly mild effect. Hopefully that translates to "survival even if you're a few feet away so long as you stack defensive jutsu".

@eaglejarl

Does the seal transfer work in reverse? That is to say, if Kagome puts on another coat will the seal jump to the outermost coat instead of his shirt?

What exactly did Hazo's Clone do to try to make the seal jump? Did it try Substitution with Kagome?

Ooh, maybe it only jumps if the creature has a certain amount of air in it? Maybe we could hollow out the Earth Clone or something similar, or have it hold some filled Tunneler's Friend.

The aura of medical chakra surrounding her hand had finally brushed against the edge of the inky blotch; the instant it did, the thing roiled like stormy seas, then leaped forward onto her hand, surged up her arm, and took position over the front of her jacket. Kagome-sensei's shirt, where the blotch had previously been, was revealed to be lightly scorched.
It went up her arm and took root in her chest, where the lungs are. What if it's instinctively searching for high concentrations of air, and is following the veins the way blood does? We might try tricking it by cutting off circulation to Akane's arm as she transfers it from Kagome, and have an air-dense area next to her, like a set of filled and then detonated Tunneler's Friend seals in a box?

HAZOU: (angry murderous rant)

NARUTO: Err. I mean. (takes a step back in exaggerated "fear")

This is like Akane having 2 Resolve during the forest fire when she ran herself to exhaustion so as not to slow us down. :p

Do you mean the "r" in "Fire" ? The map has it as "Fire Country" from what I can see.
Yes.

Nah. It's just Naruto de-escalating.

I'm jumping on my idea from here: put Kagome in a box dense with air from detonating Tunneler's Friend or similar, and have a piece of paper on the outside of the box. The implosion seal should end up on that paper, since it's clear the seal is prioritizing 'can be more easily scribed on the surface of the container' over 'closeness to the container'; otherwise, the seal would have been scribed on Kagome's lungs instead of the outside of his coat.

No, wait, this'll cause Kagome's lungs to collapse from the difference in air density. Maybe have him stick his finger in the box, plugging it and making it airtight?

We've found that it prefers people over seals, but is there a chance it might anchor itself to a chakra construct, or something else with high chakra? A seal itself is minuscule in those terms but if we can get the anomaly anchored to a chakra construct we could hopefully strand it without a host when the construct ends.
