Again, why is it so important that Hazou carve the stamp personally?

Because it is something he did himself. Even if it's crude. No, especially if it is crude because it says "Look, I know I am new to this but I am trying anyway" which is something we want to convey wrt Hazou and politics.

I take it back. He should carve it himself instead of getting an impressive result by just doing the part he actually has the slightest skill in. -but, that's not taking it far enough. He also needs to manufacture the tools he uses to carve it. Though, before that, he's going to need to personally photosynthesize the wood out of carbon he personally fused from primordial hydrogen. This is important, people.

You forgot creating a permanent clone of himself since Hazou's body was created by his parents.

As far as Hazou knows, he independently came up with the idea during a particularly manic episode.

I actually totally forgot about that interlude when I cooked that up IIRC, although it was in the spirit of "Ridiculous training montage nonsense, inspired OOC by (Things Ami does, which AFAICT involve timing yourself on a bunch of chores and getting across the village only by using [REDACTED] )" along with some other things that no one liked enough to actually do.

I read it again about a month ago , saw "The Floor is Larva." bit and let out a big "Nani???"

The human brain, folks.

The decision to give the gift is more important. Deciding to give somebody an utterly crap gift because you made it yourself instead of just buying an immensely superior professional item stops being charming after about age 6. It'd be one thing if Hazou actually had some impressive skill in the area, but this is like trying to play your date a song on a dime store kazoo instead of just making them a mix tape.

If you want Hazou to add a personal touch, have him use his considerable calligraphy skill to draw up an ornamental design, then hire somebody with considerable engraving skill to put it on the stamp.

Speaking of which, if we're doing this ourselves we need be prepared to explain ourselves to Kei.

KEIKO: Hazou, what are you doing?
HAZOU: Carving a seal stamp in the shape of a smiley-face.
KEIKO: I'm almost afraid to ask. Did that explosive tag I hit you with jostle your brain too hard, perhaps?
HAZOU: I need it as a present for your older sister. She's going to love it!
KEIKO: ... very funny. Fine, if you don't want to say, it would be hypocritical of me to pry. Carry on.
HAZOU: Cool, thanks!
VOICES IN HAZOU'S HEAD: honesty is the best social spec here we come

Fair point. I hadn't considered him, and yes, Jiraiya might see it that way -- I'd need to talk to the others about it.

I think it would partially depend on whether Naruto would be considered part of the Goketsu clan or not. If he's considered the Uzumaki heir, it may be more advantageous for Jiraiya to try to get him recognized as a clan head in his own right so he can get another friendly vote on the clan council, and given Naruto is both the Fourth's son and the village's Jinchuuriki he might be able to argue that such a thing is warranted. But if Naruto is just a civilian-born ninja as far as Leaf's laws are concerned, I could see him wanting to adopt Naruto officially. (though Hiashi and others might oppose it, seeing it as a power grab)

he's going to be Goketsu

Number one: My missing godson, who will be adopted into this clan the minute he returns and will therefore be your brother

I don't think "we're not here to talk about it" necessarily conveys that it is an important thing for us. And I think stating, if asked, that that's partially why we're here says something as well. Ami may think she knows that being Keiko's sister has something to do with it, but Hazou explicitly stating it also has impact, and one I wouldn't mind seeing spelling out. We've certainly over- specified things less important. We don't actually know what Ami thinks of us, or Keiko, and HDK for sure.
I agree with this, for the record. It would be nice to explicitly mention that we're also partially here because of Keiko, even if it's not necessary.

At least in canon, I don't think that the Uzumaki were a recognized Leaf clan. They were refugees from Whirlpool.

Though as a branch he might be able to make a case for being the Senju heir if Tsunade goes along with it.

Tsunade: I'm enforcing my authority as Senju clan heir to create the senju clan. Also I'm immediately retiring from clan head in favor of Naruto. Since Naruto is not here in Leaf at the time, I will assign Jiraiya as regent.
Hiashi: That's ridiculous. You can't just create a clan to give the Hokage more votes.
Tsunade: Oh? You're right. I'll assign Hazou as regent instead. I think we can both agree his priorities are sufficiently different, can't we?

Again, everybody, there is absolutely no reason that Hazou needs to carve the stamp himself. He can make a calligraphic design and then just pay a professional to etch it onto a nice stamp. Ideally, glass.
It depends on what you mean by "stamp". Professional crafting is rarely done in a couple of hours.

Not no experience.

Hazou has also carved other things for members of the Mori family. And in this case all he needs is something very blocky and therefore the easiest to carve.
Remind me?

I don't understand. He's just carving ^_^ into one side of a block. That's five short lines. It shouldn't take too many attempts to get a decent-looking one.
If by "stamp" you mean "block of wood with a smiley face on the bottom", then yes, that doesn't sound hard. Whether such a thing would be recognisable as a stamp rather than a block of wood with a smiley face at the bottom is a separate issue.

Hey I just thought of a great Patreon reward...

e: To be clear: Being able to request 1/mo the QM in question to look over your plan and point out anything that's an especially bad idea.
"As a QM, I am unable to give a response that directly prevents players from doing something unwise."

Eh, it's a small order and the materials don't need to be difficult to work with. Hand them the template, pay double for the rush, and describe something like this:

It doesn't have to be a masterpiece. At this point, I'd be happy if I just managed to convince the thread not to give her a splinterfarm a complete amateur carved out of leftover firewood instead of sleeping.

HAZOU: Here, I made this for you.

AMI: ???

HAZOU: I tried to make a ^_^, you know the smiley face you sent me with your message? I was 50% successful.

AMI: Get the hell out of my restaurant. ^_^

HAZOU: ಥ_ಥ

... ... ... would giving Ami a stamp for use in letter writing give her the idea for mass producing stamps with different characters, therefore giving Mist the printing press? Wouldn't that constitute an OPSEC breach?

That seems like a huge stretch and we don't even know that Hazou is aware that the printing press works like this.

This is the part where @Kiba reminds you that woodblock printing existed long before the printing press did.
