[Χ] Research: 5-Seal Henge

To make this seal easier to design so it reliably locates it's intended targets, five seals are placed equidistantly around a cental point. Each seal is connected via infused ink to the two seals opposite it and then a circle is drawn connecting them all. In the center, two objects are placed, along with the plume of an eagle, the rotting black heart of a stillborn child, and a vial of oil taken from a chakra whale (the extra objects are reference points). When activated, the seals henge each of the two other objects into the other.

No need to do intensive research; the very first promising design Hazou happens upon should be fine.

The ambush plan seems to call for SuperTeamLeaf working together to DQ as many people as possible in exactly the way the QMs have said could result in Mist coming down on us

Alright, give me a bit and I'll have something for you.

Edit: Oh yeah

[x] Action Plan: Total Slaughter

Faflec. Do you really want us wandering around in three man strike teams before the event, trying to hunt down people, when we may run into groups consistent of every ninja from a village still in the event, and risk defeat in detail?

@eaglejarl, would it be okay to divide the event portion of the plan into two parts, plan red and plan blue, with only the plan we end up needing counting towards the word total? I'm just concerned the people are basically trying to fit three plans into a few hundred words.

I would love your help
This is 170 words. I didn't change any of the meaning of the plan, but please check just in case.

Edit: a word.
  • Check with Keiko if plan is viable (especially Pangolin use).
  • Check with Shikamaru after, especially on negotiation strategy.
    • Figure out a way to signal STL.
  • Let STL know about ambush plan.
    • If they want in: We provide seal/Summoning support + chakra redistribution.
    • Extra incentive:
      • Heavily trade for Team Kurenai's assistance.
      • Nakano:
        • Political favors from us.
        • Seal loadout after Event.
  • Request Chakra from former Leaf contestants.
    • Trade (example: seals) if necessary.
  • Noburi: Try to get Akane's seal loadout.
  • Hazou: Draw seal blanks (LBF, 5SB, Goo Bombs) for Jiraiya to infuse.
  • Kei: Summon every Pangolin she can (use her discretion).
  • Sleep for a few hours.
  • Division: 3 teams.
    • Each team has ≥1 tracker/Pangolin.
    • Ask: Does Ino have long-ranged communications?
      • If yes: Stay relatively close to coordinate strikes.
  • Goal: Track enemies, engage at discretion of squad leader.
    • Note: Be cautious, only engage with favorable odds.
      • Disengage if ever facing >3 ninja.
    • Give out seals (Banshee Slayers, Earbusters, Goo Bombs) for strikes.
  • Noburi stays at secure location, drains victims/replenishes chakra after fights.

"Do you really want to risk the 300 points we've got? I mean, we're so far ahead as it is."

@faflec @Enjou We need to plan for the event too.
We aren't getting any XP bonuses for this one I dont think.

@OliWhail

You have (as far as I can tell, but my eyesight isnt so great ) neglected to update the XP/FP! Pinging you as requested :p

@eaglejarl @Velorien

You mentioned you would consider doing a small update after giving us the rules and then asking Velorien if he would do a lore update so that you would (as you have been looking forward to it greatly) be able to enjoy writing this event. Is this still something on the table here?

This next plan Re: Event 5 proper is mission critical regardless of the content, and I worry that there are sufficient interactions between (What we do Round 1) and (What we do Round 2) that we might not be able to handle giving you a solid plan by tomorrow morning without essentially handing you half a thousand words of unedited spaghetti, or something thats not sufficiently optimized to our usual standards for such a situation given that we've had less than 24 hours to plan for the event proper, and that last minute construction of plans as well as edits usually screw us over pretty hard when we miss some detail accidentally.

This is the only part I disagree with.

I am confused by this.

Privately ask, maybe via a note? We aren't trying to steal secrets by gauging her reaction.
This is @Oneiros' plan, which I'm shortening for her. @Oneiros, here are some thoughts on your plan.

I can answer the second part, though: it means that there should be at least 1 tracker and Pangolin on each squad. Though mayhaps that part could be clarified. @Oneiros I think this could look better:
  • Each team has ≥1 tracker & ≥1 Pangolin.
That's...what, +1 word? 171 words total? Hah.

Ask: Does Ino have long-ranged communications?
  • If yes: Stay relatively close to coordinate strikes.

I think strike teams should stay close together to render assistance if needed, even if Ino doesn't have long ranged communication. We can always use explosive tags as a signals or something.

This is for @Oneiros' plan. @Oneiros, another thought on your plan.

Just making an addition to @faflec's plan. I don't think this can hurt us in any way and it's consistent with our general outreach ambitions.

That said, I definitely won't be able to maintain this, as I'm going to painkiller-induced sleep soon, so feel free to steal. Sorry for talk instead of punch @eaglejarl, I really want to go to the tournament. :(

[X] Action Plan: Polite Introductions

1. Tour the barracks, introducing ourselves to other candidates still in the exam
  • Tone: Respectful and professional, adjust if appropriate.
  • Purpose: Break the ice in preparation for the event. Be honest about this.
  • Talk to all the candidates from a village at once, if possible.
  • Don't overstay our welcome, not much time to meet so many people.
  • Start with smaller villages, without full teams left. More likely to be paired with them. Skip Mist unless team thinks it's worthwhile.
  • Team applies practiced social-fu as appropriate.
2. General preparations
  • Sleep in shifts, maintain security, get to the event on time.
  • Hazou makes extra seals: Banshee Slayers, Tunneler's Friend, Usamatsu's Glorious Life-Saving Preservers, explosives, Goo Bombs+LBF+5SB (for Jiraiya to infuse), macerators (OPSEC concern?)...
    • Basically he makes extras of anything he thinks might be useful in a combat/infiltration mission with multiple different teams working together.
  • Keiko goes to the Summoning Realm and gives her contracted Pangolins a sitrep on the upcoming Event (or what she knows of it).
    • Give Jiraiya possible seals to infuse.
  • Noburi: Go shopping.
    • Try to find some nonlethal poisons that can work via physical contact or can be spread via macerator.
    • Buy some extra lockboxes, put in storage seals, bring to Event. Try to match Team Kurenai's description of the lockboxes they saw, if possible.
    • Make extra copies of dossiers, possibly distribute to all teams.
    • Pay Leaf ninja to refresh spent chakra, if necessary.

Suggestions for event strategies:
  • Attacking teams in zones other than our target area is necessary for victory. Pangolins can be used for this if we're on the blue team in a round, since we need to defend.
  • Any non-lethal, non-secret thing in your arsenal that won't cause Severe Consequences is open for use. Also, suicide clones with explosives and Goo Bombs are things you can afford to use.
  • If on blue, put documents in a storage seal. Adhere seal to the bottom of bottom shelf in the lockbox. Put a scroll with fake documents more visibly present. And set up traps.
Any other ideas?

"Do you really want to risk the 300 points we've got? I mean, we're so far ahead as it is."

Not all risks are equal. Being injured before the event even starts would be catastrophic. If we're going to try doing an ambush pre-event, I'd prefer a zero risk strategy - have Keiko use pangolins to ambush people by summoning one or two six hours before the event, and send them hunting. That's completely fair, uses only her resources.

And again, someone eliminated before the even is someone who we can't eliminate during the event, and cause point losses for other teams.

I share these concerns, especially since we don't know whether we're on the red or blue team for the first round, or who is on our team.

Loss of all points for the event and a -1,000 point penalty if you fail to properly simulate a functional T&I facility. (See above for details)
Hazou could go around to any blue team's facility that does not have Leaf ninja on it, and MEW shut a bunch of hallways and doors. Make it in such a way as to improve the defense of the place, and don't get caught. Proctors will believe that the defenders failed to properly simulate a T&I facility, and they lose 1,000 points.

Edit:
Stealing keys, MEWing lockboxes closed, etc. would be even better.

Wait, does this mean in this planning session? I thought we're voting for everything we do before the Event starts, then @Velorien/@OliWhail writes a Lore Update/Interlude, then @eaglejarl starts the Event?

Noted. I'm not 100% on whether or not we're meant to be metagaming (my plan doesn't have us get the rules until later) but I'll add it once QMs confirm.

This is provided that the proctors believe that the team inside the facility did this.

See
Ideally, yes.

Yes, it's fine if you set up plans on how to sync up with STL or other people.

This was addressed by others, but to confirm: he has a Wakahisa barrel and chakra water in one of those leaks chakra over weeks or months.

That's fine.

I believe we are all of the mind that planning for the event itself now (even with updated information that Hazou would have access to) is too much of a time crunch to do by 9am tomorrow.
