@eaglejarl Are we still doing the bonus-XP-for-shorter-plans thing?

[x] Action Plan: Total Slaughter

Prep:
  • Let all members of Leaf know we are preparing an ambush
    • If they want in we will provide full seal support and Summons
  • Request Chakra from former Leaf contestants
    • If necessary bribe them
  • Try to get Akane's seal loudout
  • Summon every Pangolin Kei has chakra for
Ambush teams:
  • Location: Between Kirigakure/Event location, ideal spot for ambush (watery, hard to escape...).
  • Preparations:
    • Traps: Goo bombs. Earbusters distribute Banshee slayers. Really use everything Kei and Shikamaru approve of
    • Summons:
    • Underground segments (Tunneling Excavation): Hiding spots to preclude Stealth checks.
    • Aboveground sentries (high-Alertness/Stealth) see/signal approach.
  • Priority: Top teams (Gensō, Downfall...).
  • Ambush:
    • Blitz in, incapacitate, knock out.
  • Loot: ½-words, full drain, hogtie.
  • Recover, repeat.
  • Have some Pangolins scouting the area. They can engage at their discretion.
I like, but what's the bait? Why are these teams suddenly converging on this location we've prepped.

Would like to remind people about the checklist when making the plan:

  • Reminder: Clarity are important in plans even if we lose bonus XP points.
  • Did someone spent five minutes thinking as an enemy trying to derail our plan?
  • Is this situation that we best play it passively, or more actively?
  • Did someone spend five minutes considering how our words/actions look to other people?

Also, I changed the first bullet point to a reminder instead.

They are coming from Mist to the test location. We can use our pangolins to drive them towards our ambush
Is this allowed? What's preventing ten proctors from showing up and kicking our teeth in for this?

Presumably the event starts during the day. I can't see why Mist would allow this if they catch wind of it

It seems a bit weird to me that they would be okay with us ripping the exam into pieces by punching everyone in the face sufficiently hard.

AKA: if we do this it needs to be covert

The only way to take out masses of people would be to start some sort of battle royale but not get caught up in the brawl that ensues. Here's my ambush idea.

[] Proto-plan: Start a Fight, Run Away
Goal: Ambush a team of ninja. Draw tons of attention and start a massive battle royale. Escape and let the enemy fight amongst themselves, disabling as many people as we can in the process.

1) Dig a long-ass escape tunnel. Do not leave an exit hole, but have the tunnel end close enough to the surface that a single additional tunneling jutsu (or explosive tag) will allow us to escape. Hide the escape tunnel entrance and silence mine it.

2) Plan a couple of escape routes for after we leave the tunnel. Pre-seed these escape routes with multiple sets of kawarimi targets. Include multiple stages of kawarimi targets per escape route. It would be ideal if these escape routes go through water or swampy areas.

3) Flood the bottom of the tunnel with water, set up some barrier seals and explosive seals that we can trigger on our escape and block possible pursuit.

4) Dig a separate underground chamber where the majority of STL can wait. Have Panshe and maybe one or two of our most stealthy and alert allied nin stay above ground and watch for enemies. Silence mine the reserve tunnel and the area that our above ground allies are keeping watch in.

5) Have Keiko summon one of the combat pangolin to wait with the rest of STL, staying connected to Panshe with Pangolin Telepathy (does that still exist? I think so but it only works between pangolins and not pangolins and humans).

6) When an enemy team is spotted, trigger an ambush. Explosive tags ahoy.

7) Wreck face, make loud noises, when more and more ninja start showing up activate a few banshee seals* and get the fuck out of dodge. Into the escape tunnel!

8) Activate barrier seals to slow/block pursuit. Allow Noburi to drain anyone stupid enough to step in the water. Goo tags will probably be extra useful in this enclosed space. Alternatively, we can use explosive tags to collapse the tunnel behind us.

9) Have Kieko throw some explosive tagged kunai as far as she can away from our various escape routes (in order to draw pursuit away from us).

10) Make our escape. Kawarimi as needed in order to throw off pursuit. Leave a couple of pangolins behind to engage in delaying actions. One of our more combat oriented ones to straight up slow enemies down, and Panshe to try and pick off any ninja that get too far ahead of their allies and leave themselves vulnerable.

11) Recover in time for fifth event.

*My logic here is that the banshee seals are pretty powerful. They would have a fairly massive AOE and are hard to block. The seem like our best bet to take out a bunch of ninja at once, and it seems reasonable that they'll affect our enemies alertness in a negative fashion, which might make it easier for us to escape stealthily. Lastly they'll draw attention like nothing else.

EDIT: Action Plan: Total Slaughter was created while I was typing this. I'm too new at this shit to feel comftorable mantaining my own action plan, so please feel free to take anything good from this plan.

My issue with an ambush is the question of how we get people into the ambush zone. What prevents them from taking a long way around? Given the paranoia levels, I don't expect anyone to take the straight line route there.

Just because it's one of two way to make it to the tournament doesn't mean it's a Good Idea(TM).

Here's a question for our thought: What happens if we don't make the tournament?

Then Jiraiya is probably kinda fucked, Naruto probably dies in captivity , the Akatsuki gain momentum, we probably are forced to do tedious missions to pay for our clans expenses instead of researching important things, all previous factors snowball as a result, etc.

So basically we lose all of our momentum gathered thus far and any further gains become twice to ten times as difficult, as a conservative estimate.

Well, fuck. I never expected us to make it all the way through the chunin exam. I have no idea why Jiriaya/QMs expects us to succeed.

It depends. We don't know exactly how much our performance affects arenas like Leaf/Mist negotiations or the Hokage hat. It's possible that Jiraiya squeaks by remaining Hokage if we do well enough even if we don't make tournament, but it's also possible that Hiashi gets the hat from this. Same for Leaf/Mist, we could squeak by with a less favourable alliance, or we could cause the negotiations to fall apart by failing here.

So, aim for the best, but even if we fall short there's still hope.

Well let's find out. @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail If we (Team Goketsu, or STL if they all decide to join) decide to set up an ambush as per @Oneiros' plan, does Hazou think proctors will shut that down?
In Hazō's utterly uninformed opinion, while the proctors appear to be turning a blind eye to individual one-on-one ambushes (presumably only incompetent teams will fail to evade those in relatively familiar territory), setting up a meat grinder would be seen as usurping their testing privileges, since they want teams with decent information gathering skills to make it to the events so they can be tested. And Leaf teams will not get the benefit of the doubt if it comes down to a proctor judgement call.

Ok, so it looks like we need to do this the clever way.

If Hinata cooperates we could have a mobile ambush, which might help since we could ambush smaller groups.

Also, summoning all Pangolins is a bit of a risk since we could have Keiko lacking chakra for the event.

Speaking of Pangolins, Keiko has a unique advantage there since she's likely the only summoner here. Presuming "guard the lockboxes" is the defender goal, she might be able to hide the lockboxes in the summon realm if there's no rules against it. Also, depending on the rules she could have Pangolins steal lockboxes from other event sites, denying points to both sides.
