May I introduce you to the concept of Fire Log macerators?

Borderline lethal with probable crippling effects on lung s?
I am both familiar with this seal and think it's useless for the purpose I had in mind.

Anything in our arsenal with "chance of death" as a substantial byproduct of use is out of the question.

What I had intended is somehing along the lines of doing our best to make sure everyone in event 5 besides us gets a few broken limbs in the first round.

So you want something which aggressively cripples people without a chance of killing them? Short of supreme hand-to-hand combat superiority, I kind of doubt the existence of such a thing. At the very least, I don't think we have such a thing in our arsenal.

That's why I wasn't suggesting using anything in our arsenal to do it. We're mostly all boom and no subtlety, save for certain Macerator variations and some other things.

@OliWhail @eaglejarl @Velorien

Mist is a major hidden village, so surely there are apothecaries and or supply stores around that stock up on various poisons or drugs that mednin need to use, right?

Honestly, I feel like we'd be best off just doing something like making a depthful Ambush plan and then just letting eaglejarl write the event than planning everything out.

I mean, seriously, eaglejarl knows we'd be able to tear this event to bloody pieces if we had the details, and tried. Therefore... we can just leave it to him to write the results of that.

Does that seem acceptable, @eaglejarl?

(I mean, we might get moderately less XP for doing so, but we're also leaving the reigns up to him, so we'd probably get a little bonus XP for that.)

So I'm going to observe that most of the minor nations might be good targets for ambush, since [nearly] all of their teams have been broken up into individuals. Wolf, Sky, Rivers, Grass, Rice, and Fang are all potential targets as they have 1 or 2 people per village, and they won't have the advantage of being able to get to the Event as a team. Hot Springs, Frost, Waterfalls, and Claw have 3-4; enough for a full team (or more) which kinda sucks since Hot Springs and Waterfalls are really juicy targets. So I think that, if we go for an ambush, we focus on picking off those groups of 1-2 ninjas rather than whole groups which will prove costly (both with the risk of injury/KO and the time/possible chakra loss if they're low-chakra capacity ninjas).

There is really no point in ambushing a bunch of low point value people.

Anyways: first pass brainstorming:

  • Assume cooperation with Team Super Leaf will not be sufficient to have people purposefully lose
  • Don't give out our arsenal to people freely -- demand payment of some kind or another (e.g. public acknowledgment that their win was enabled directly by Jiraiya)
  • Use the majority of our arsenal in the assault
  • Use occassional lethal parts of our arsenal where we think it'd work as a fear tactic, but not against ninja
  • Make mild attempts not to kill anyone
  • Arrange for a signal between Leaf-nin to communicate numbers and locations of Leaf-nin on opposing teams, so we can work on opposite sides of the battle-field. Assume this will be compromised by the second event.

And you think we'll have a chance against the guys from [e.g., Sand], who are inevitably all going to be moving as an entire 8-ninja squad? Because without STL we have no chance, and with STL it's still too close a fight for me to want to fight. The point is to stack the deck as much as possible.

We don't need Team Kurenia's help. With Team Asuma and the 10th Leaf Nin we already roll 7 deep. We then can bolster are numbers by summoning all the pangolins. Get Chakra from all the eliminated Leaf Nins. Go to town

Yes, I absolutely do believe we could take them with STL.

And if STL gets injured, so what? We're (mostly) good enough to avoid that, so what's it matter if they do?

So, cause so much collateral damage that it spills over into other instances, allowing us to damage non-Leaf teams?

That's all well and good, but what would the bait for the ambush even be? The location of this event has been a construction site for quite a while. It sticks out like a sore thumb.

I'm sort of with Cariyaga here , since a bunch of isolated minor village ninja won't make good combatants in this upcoming event. They should be relatively easy to take out in the event proper compared to some of the bigger fish.

There are ways we can do this where it doesn't just devolve into an us Vs them brawl in the ambush location. Since that seems to be a losing proposition let's just cross that strategy out and consider ways in which we could launch an indirect ambush or have them fall into a trap of some sort.

Ugh. This is just like during the third event. Nobody wants to take the slightest chance, so we're gonna lose out on our chance for the tournament just like we lost 300 points there.

@eaglejarl, instead of writing a tiny preparation update (since the breakup conversations are best done by Velorien) and having @Velorien write a lore update so the punching can be done by you, why don't you write a lore update and let Velorien write the breakup conversations and preparation update?

[X] Game Theoretic Coercion

I'll change my vote to something else if a plan that actually has a chance at winning this thing comes about.

There's a good chance other alliance have the same thought and will do the work for us. Obviously no guarantee but something to keep in mind if we come up with a higher priority that we could do instead.

Alternatively and a bit more clumsily, you could give us the full rules now in an Informational so that we can make a precise plan before your update, and then re-explain the rules in the update itself.

One more question for the pile: Does Hazou have any reasons to believe the dossier drop was effective other than the dropping team not getting caught red handed?

Pandamonium is a heavy weapons pangolin. He uses ninjutsu to scoop up earth and stone to shape into huge projectiles, then prodigious physical strength to lob them.

Panta is a courier pangolin. He has an excellent memory and a talent for staying stealthy while running very fast.

Pangaya is a bodyguard pangolin. She uses ninjutsu to get allies out of harm's way and/or redirect harm's way from them to herself.

Pandojuru is a battlefield support pangolin. He uses ninjutsu to strengthen and energise allies, though some of his abilities only work on other pangolins.

Pangolin jutsu are next on the list. Whose character sheets are you asking for?
@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Can I request this be stickied for ease of finding?

Throwing this out there, maybe we should give up the Tournament as a lost cause and concentrate on making sure that Hinata doesn't make it to the Tournament either.

Alright, after thinking about it some more I'm no longer seriously averse to the ambush plan. HOWEVER I am very averse to the idea of targeting any of the major villages (who are, again, likely to stick as large groups weakening our advantage). I would like to again suggest that we aim for the minor villages, including those like Hot Springs and Waterfalls (who have those two top teams). If anyone from a major village is stupid enough to actually go as a small group (3-5?) then yeah, go for them as well. But the big groups (Mist=12, Cloud=10, Rock=9, Sand=8) are a no-no.

The plan: Get remaining contestants on board to hunt enemy teams.

Word Count 266/299

[x] Action Plan: Total Slaughter

  • Check with Keiko if plan is viable (especially Pangolin use)
  • Sleep for a few hours.
  • Check with Shikamaru after
    • Figure out a way to signal STL.
  • Let STL know about ambush plan.
    • If they want in: We provide seal/Summoning support + chakra redistribution.
    • Extra incentive:
      • Heavily trade for Team Kurenai's assistance.
      • Nakano:
        • Political favors from us.
        • Seal loadout after Event.
  • Hazou: Draw seal blanks (LBF, 5SB, Goo Bombs) for Jiraiya to infuse.
    • Ask if Jiraiya has extra large storage seals
    • Also draw and infuse extra seals (Banshee Slayers, Tunneler's Friend, Purifiers)
  • Request Chakra from former Leaf contestants.
    • Use extra chakra for Kei (later).
    • Trade (example: seals) if necessary.
    • Head out of the city.
      • Kei: Summon every Pangolin she can (use her discretion)
      • Noburi: Refill Kei using his + his allies' chakra, return to barracks under guard, get chakra, return.
  • Division: 3 teams.
    • Each team has ≥1 tracker+Pangolin.
    • Ask: Does Ino have long-ranged communications?
    • Ask if we should spread out to cover more ground or stay close for support
  • Goal: Track enemies, engage at discretion of squad leader.
    • Note: Be cautious, only engage with favorable odds.
      • Disengage if ever facing >3 ninja.
    • Give out seals (Banshee Slayers, Earbusters, Goo Bombs) for strikes.
  • Noburi stays at secure location, drains victims/replenishes chakra after fights.
Ambush gets veto'd:
  • Sleep in shifts, maintain security, get to event on time.
  • Make seals (above).
  • Give Pangolins sitrep.
  • See if we can buy lockboxes/nonlethal contact/gaseous drugs.
  • Summon Pangolins to conduct ambush 6 hours before the event
    • Only do this if we get chakra from other contestants
