Seems reasonable to me, but it's @Velorien's update. Could be a funny scene to have Keiko meet with Jiraiya on the Seventh Path (assuming she does that instead of just sending a written report) and say "Here, sir, you should probably drink this before hearing my report."

Just throwing this in the room: We should definitely not write down anything and stick to verbal reports only. If the concern is that someone might check up on us, a missing Keiko is easier to explain than having our written report potentially seized and handed to the Mizukage. At worst, we can just tell them Keiko is giving Jiraiya a report and this would not give them any new info since they know about the summoner status of both Jiraiya and Keiko (heck, even the Oyabun knows this method of communication and he isn't a ninja).
They can hardly fault us reporting to our superior.

I vehemently disagree. Our written report can be in code and/or eaten in moments, while a missing contestant after we've been told in "I kid you not" terms to not leave this room is something that can't be swept under the rug. They can definitely fault us for reporting to our superior.

Agreed. Also, she can be reverse summoned if necessary.

Also, thread-wise: can we move away from the 'Shika/Keiko are 'real' geniuses, not like Hazou' narrative? Hazou is a genius; he/we have blindspots, but we know Keiko couldn't do what we do, and I doubt Nara could. We don't see Nara fail much, but that's in part because he sticks to low-stakes, safe strategies... and has a much more supportive background.

From the perspective of Keiko, Noburi, Mari, Jiraiya, etc al, what exactly is Hazō's genius?

I took a stab at the tipserator % question:
  • There are 14 grams of pure alcohol in 5 ounces of wine, which is typically about 12% alcohol
  • Thus there are 14 grams of pure alcohol in 4 ounces of sake, which is typically about 15% alcohol--this is 120 grams per liter
  • Now, visibility at ~1m needs 4g/m^3 of water (~= sake)
  • Thus a pure sake tipserator is ~0.48g/m^3 of alcohol
  • https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0015736886724584 says we need >>2g/m^3 of alcohol
This seems off but I can't see a mistake.

Re: LOS for Misterators:
#TripleRetconIncoming(?)

If this happens... well, a fair deal would have to be reconsidered.

Primarily I think would be the matter of whether or not Hazou could deploy a Misterator without giving himself away. His apparent plan was to deploy from behind the pillar, then hid himself inside the edge of the mist briefly. That won't work with Line of Sight being relatively unhindered. So what are the possible things Hazou could do?

One would be that Keiko, knowing how Misterators work, would just nix the item from the plan due to no good way to deploy it. The EM plan on its own is still useful.

Another would be to ensure there's an open window, and run through the mansion to escape that way. There might still be some risk of being seen or caught. A distraction earth clone henge'd to look like someone else and a silence mine to make his own run quiet might mitigate that.

Hiding Like a Mole could be used to deploy from underground in a wide area spray, from the middle of the crowd, though this would limit the info Hazou's able to get due to being underground - he'd be somewhat guessing on the location of people. It could be done from somewhere other than our chosen spot on the porch, as well, with Hazou being on dirt from the start, but would such a convenient spot exist? He could also maybe do it under a different henge, but would need enough chakra to change henge again as well as do HLaM.

Release on a timer would work, but that'd leave the seal as evidence, which could be traced back to our group just by checking our kits. It could be destroyed with a similarly timed explosive seal, but that'd be an indicator that a seal was used, so would be an indicator a seal master (or at least someone with a lot of seals) was responsible. Also, explosives might cause a panic on top of property damage, so they're somewhat of a no go - I'm pretty sure we rejected use of explosives during planning anyways.

I think having a Substitution-capable object (esp. one that won't leave a trace of being used, like a self-dissipating clone) through the window would be best. Expensive, though.

I'm not sure that, given the resources we had available at the time, chakra and otherwise, given the expense involved, it'd be reasonable to go through with the tipserators. Though I admit, I am suffering from a bit of bias there :p

Someone uses Hiding in the Mist, Hazou panics and lets off the tipserator, everything proceeds the same.

PSA: Massive Retconning

Okay, @faflec pointed out that we made a significant mistake about the misterators: they don't block line of sight, and therefore the person in the crowd who kicked all this off with an explosive tag would not have had the necessary cover to do that...which, of course, means that the whole stampede and everything that followed would not have happened.

The only fix that we can come up with on this is to retcon the whole thing away. As such, the end of chapter 190 has been modified: time was rolled back to after the EM had been used and before the tipserator was used. STL, TU, and Hazō are off in the NE corner of the grounds, most other people are gathered on the front lawn, a few people and possibly some number of proctors are wandering around the grounds. Your vote for Wednesday should proceed from this point.

All of chapter 191 will be declared ex-canon.

PSA: Massive retconning.

Aww :(

Reverse the order, and everything works pretty much exactly the same? Hazour tipserators just for added pressure (without expectatoin to obcure LoS); unknown party hides in the mist in response to unknown mist with expectation of evening out the odds.
