I have been pouring over the collateral damage policy from event 3. (Punctuation added for sanity's sake).

"Collateral damage is not acceptable and must be stringently avoided in the event of injury or property damage the consequences will apply to anyone the proctors think may have been directly or indirectly involved regardless of whether they personally caused the damage or were definitively known to be present- "

1) STOP.

Emphasis mine:

"directly or indirectly involved regardless of whether they personally caused the damage or were definitively known to be present"

Continue:

"-the penalty for a death is disqualification from the Exams forfeiture of your village's bond and all of your village's contestants being sent home immediately "

2)
If there are any ninja in that mass and anyone dies, then their villages are all fucked. Is this our problem? I dunno, but they'll be mad as hell about it.

"If a Mist contestant is involved in a death then all Mist contestants will be sent to an outpost on the edge of the Land of Water for the duration of the Exams and the Mist bond will be forfeit as per normal Chūnin Exam rules the penalty for injuring a proctor or anyone who is not part of the event even so much as a bruise is minus fifty to minus one thousand points depending on the severity of the injury you will also be responsible for the victim's medical fees plus ten thousand ryō those monies will be paid twice once from your client's supply and once from your village's bond property damage will be scored as injury to a person a scorch mark or broken table will cost minus fifty points and the price of replacement plus ten thousand ryō paid twice the costs go up from there depending on the severity of the damage any action intended to cause another team to inflict collateral damage will be treated as your team causing a fatality disqualification for all teams from your village forfeiture of your village's bond and ejection from the Land of Water."

3)
Okay so we break some stuff and we're hung out to dry for a bit more.

TL;DR :Based on Veloriens stressing (on the severity of this situation)in addition to basic decency we may want to reconsider slightly Plan GTFO
If someone dies, and we are implicated in this somehow, then not only are we fucked, but all of the Leaf contestants are going home. And our village is out political capital. AND Jiraiya is absolutely fucked- FUCKED- politically when he gets home. We may as well roll a new character at that point.

If we have to break some shit and lose some points or even get disqualified personally from the event to stop that from happening, that would be the clear preferred alternative.

Like, even if we do get away scott free personally and leaf doesn't get harmed by this, the exams are still completely flipped and poltically things may be very nasty.

What is the Chunin thing to do in this situation? Do we take action to stop any casualties and or injuries?

True, but we already used the alcohol mist, and plenty of people here will know the mist generation jutsu.
This is real mist though and not a chakra construct.
Note, however, that everything changes when the crowd hits the closed doors. At that point, the people at the front are going to be crushed by the waves of people behind them who don't realise that the doors are closed. Even in the best case scenario where the doors get opened, you now have 200 people trying to squeeze through a narrow opening into an entrance corridor which also cannot accommodate that many people.

Also, recall that everyone is blind and increasingly drunk, which doesn't do wonders for "People make the best choices they can based on the information available to them".
There have been more than one comments about this, so let me set expectations: there's one more event after this, then a long break for training, then the tournament. This is OOC information, as is the fact that the next event is one that I came up with and is very different from all the ones you've seen so far. Much more...straightforward. }:>

Are there QM posts to this effect? I'm checking in QM chat to make sure I have a clear picture of where everyone is, but it would be good to have existing references.

Voting closes Saturday morning at 9am eastern time, so not being around after that won't matter much.
You guys have fire-log macerators for a similar purpose

What makes you think Ren wasn't the one who threw the explosion, hmmm?

Do the front doors open outwards or inwards? Does Hazo know if they are locked at the moment?

We still have ninja wire, LBF's, directional explosives and goo bombs (10 Kagome and 2 Jiraiya) according to this post, right? (Incidentally what is the difference between the two goo bombs?)

The Chunin thing to do is to focus on the mission above all else. The Obito thing to do is to help out while still escaping.

Hazou currently has 35CP. If we use Earth Clone (15CP) and give it enough chakra to Henge (8CP) we can get the doors open while still preserving our identity. We can then get with the crowd and try to sneak through a side door/window which can get us to SuperTeam Leaf; alternatively, we can overdraw 10CP (Moderate Consequence) to use HLaM and escape from underground.

I personally would still prefer for us to just GTFO; there's no way in hell the proctors are dumb enough to let a stampede kill someone. But if we are insistent on helping out then these are some ideas.

The problem I'm seeing with that is that it may take too long to do all of these things.

I think we may very well have to unfuck this situation somehow before we make the getaway or there could be dire consequences.

I will point out that while the crowd will try to move to the door, several will not. Some ninja will move in a different direction not to get their henges popped, but everyone is now blind, drunk, and confused. Many won't have their sense of direction about them.

You know, if our goal was to stop the drunkenness one thing we could do is drop a training explosive before we left. Since we know (via QM) that they won't reach us until the next round we can drop the bomb (and have it detonate nearly immediately) right before we leave the Zone (and avoid being in the blast radius).

Unfortunately, the bomb would probably freak people out more and might cause even more chaos.

I will also point out that if the proctors try to disqualify every village whose genin are merely present due to a death will cause a political shitstorm, since that's basically all the villages. I find it rather unlikely they would, since that would effectively end the exams.

I thought you said we were playing the Big Bad, not the protagonist.

Unless the protagonist is the Big Bad?

I'm saying:
  • Hazou is the Big Bad.
  • Noburi, Kei, etc. are the Dark Lieutenants.
  • There is an as of yet unknown MC who will be prophecised to end our reign of optimality.
  • Inoki is the MC's foil.
  • The MC doesn't take us seriously as a threat at first.
  • Inoki does take us seriously because he knows we killed Joutarou.
  • The fact the MC doesn't take us seriously makes Inoki hate him.
  • The MC sees Inoki hating him and thinks Inoki's a prick, until he learns the reason why Inoki hates him (revealed in a dramatic moment in the season 1 finale).

It's Akane, isn't it. Akane is the MC.

@OliWhail @eaglejarl @Velorien

If we were to use FP for an open window with a human sized potted plant in view, what would the border between our zone and the interior of the mansion be, as far as the substitution jutsu is concerned?
