"I suppose I did just ask the same question of you," Minami's mother said distantly. "I wonder, though, how much there is I can tell you. Nikkō and I wasted the last of the time we had together. She defied me and started dating that Nara boy, and after that we never spoke. You knew her better than I did, at the end—or did you think I invited you here merely to apportion blame?"
Anyone else see somewhat of a parallel between Minami and our mother?

So. I don't know about anyone else, but I've resolved that Nikkou will be one of the first that we resurrect. (After, say, the first four hokages, Kushina, and Hazou's dad)

In a quest so simulationist, where who lives and who dies is a function of math more than narrative, I always find myself impressed when the events turn out so compelling anyways. Minami's death is the kind of plot arc that would not look out of place in a carefully crafted narrativist fiction, and the repercussions and reactions to it have been widespread, deep, and very potent. The fact that all of this stems from a simulationist sequence of events only lends it more power from the sense of reality behind it. Bravo.

On another note...
We had been planning to name her Minori, in accordance with tradition

Eh, I'm pragmatic. Of course we'll resurrect those people eventually, but we cannot afford to wait on the others. :p

Speaking of people who weren't confirmed dead, are we ever going to get around to doing something nice for Emiya the younger?

I was thinking we invite her and the mayor to Mari's and Jiraiya's wedding, with some of the rice ninja. If they aren't incompetent they already figured out that Goketsu was the team that showed up in their town. At least the mayor must have figured it out by now.

Also Emi the younger could be searching for a job:

"People are saying that Emi the Elder is due to marry Urushibara the tanner, who will then take ownership of the inn and kick her sister out. Neither Emi has commented. Oh, and an abandoned house on the west side is said to be haunted, and people who go there tend to disappear."

Also...
"Karen has asked me to tell you that you may go home for the day. If you are still amenable, she is prepared to have afternoon tea with you again on another occasion."

Minami Karen X Hazou

Minami Karen X Hazou

I kind of don't want to have the following conversation...

HAZOU: Welcome! To the woooorld of tomoroooow!

NIKKO: Whu.

HAZOU: Surprise! You're alive! Also it's been two years. Necromancy went way faster than expected.

NIKKO: Uh.

HAZOU: Also I'm in a poly relationship that includes your mother.

NIKKO: (murders HAZOU)

NOBURI: Sage damnit, fifth time this week... (activates a resurrection seal)

HAZOU: Bleh...

NOBURI: Just because you can come back to life now doesn't mean you should keep goading people into killing you.

HAZOU: Actually, I was being serious.

NOBURI: Okay, what the fuck.

HAZOU: I was also being serious all those other times.

NOBURI: ...

HAZOU: I think I've just been really lucky that no one killed me before we finished the necromancy research.

IN HAZOU'S MIND: Orochimaru was surprisingly reasonable when we told him we were asking for his notes on resurrection tech because we wanted to help. I mean, sure, he tried murdering us and vivisecting us, but he only tried once, which counts as a win in my book. Admittedly, our explosive contingency, thanks to Kagome, might have helped with convincing him we were more useful to him alive than dead, but either way, it worked! It counts! Also, we kinda had to hijack his plan to install himself as God Emperor, but I think it worked out pretty well.

Now where were we?

Oh right, Minami!

HAZOU: Also I'm in a poly relationship with your mother.

My shipping posts seem to inspire you. How about Kagome X Tsunade next?

Screams in Jiraya at this blatant pointless distribution of information to the whole wide world
