I dislike this team, mainly because noone in it has an Awareness skill greater than two. Awareness is probably THE most vital skill we need to survive the swarms little surprises. I personally think that making one of our teammates a tactical movement/awareness character with the already approved one second dangersense precog kekkai genkai would probably be the most useful in this swamp.

Fair enough, we could swap out Teammate B for Teammate C:

Bloodline (1 second precog danger sense)

Intelligence 1
Wits 2
Resolve 2
Strength 2
Dexterity 3
Stamina 2
Presence 2
Manipulation 1
Composure 2
Capacity 2
Control 2
Regeneration 1

Taijutsu (no special style) 2
Weapons (kunai and shuriken) 2
Intimidation 0
Resisting Intimidation 0
Seduction / Fast-Talk 0
Resisting Seduction / Fast-Talk 1
Sealcraft 0
Technique Modification/Development 0
Awareness 4
Tactical Movement 2
Stealth 2
Working with traps, locks, etc. 0
Medical Knowledge (poisons, antidotes, medicines, anatomy) 1
Medical Ninjutsu 0
Wall-climbing, Chakra Adhesion 1
Water-walking 1
Dispelling 1
Summoning (requires contract) 0
Transformation 1
Clone 1
Substitution 1
Element 2

At least one with information-gathering utility, ideally effective against danger and burst surprises, with some justification of why it didn't help others in the party survive the swamp (or maybe it did, the swamp is just that lethal?). And at least one that is powerful on its own, with synergy. I think we should do full builds, or at least earmark some Skills and the level we'd like them to have. Since these guys are "survivors" like us, I imagine it's okay to optimize them.

Hm, i am partial to the one second dangersense precog bloodline. If not that, something else might be useful... Hm, wasn't the Aburame clan mentioned as an example for acceptable Bloodline limits? And isn't there at least one knock-off Aburame clan around?

Having someone that has insects within his or her body to do the scouting for us might be useful.

I think you should maybe try upping that to five or ten seconds. See how much we can get away with.

But I also think maybe the reason the QMs didn't ask for a full build was because they didn't want to bother with the trouble of a full build..?

Yeah, the only issue I have with the 1sec precog is -

1) We don't know how fast "1 second" is in shinobi terms. Enough time to do something meaningful? Enough time to alert the whole team, and have them become alert? If it's not relevant to saving our skin, if it only keeps that teammate alive - well, the utility is pretty meh.

An Aburame knockoff would be much better in that regard, yeah. But the issue is, if we have a teammate whose danger sense is relevant in this swamp, we would have to answer "why didn't they use it to save the jounin while we were entering the swamp?" Ideally, the reason would be something like, "Sleep deprivation combined with stress and panic prevented them from using it to full effect and it won't be a problem in the future." Or, in the case of an Aburame knockoff, maybe "the sudden environmental change decimated my swarm and it's only now become feasible to send out scouts instead of using everything for breeding."

A fair bit too strong. Actual combat regeneration is insanely useful, too much so for them to be sent on a suicide mission.

Edit: re-growing limbs outside of combat on the other hand is much more reasonable. They'd need to first seal the wound so they're not bleeding out, then enter a coma-like regenerative trance that they can't wake up from till it's done. Then eat a lot of food to make up for the lost mass and chakra.
That seems fair. Having someone on the team who can afford to lose limbs would also be worth having. I'm game for a post-combat regeneration bloodline on our team, how about other people?

Given we are the junior Taj god, we are likely more swamp effective than many other chunin, so by picking swamp with a strong team, we protect our potential future support.

Given we are melee monster, a weapons + combat movement backup would be good (potential exotic element magnetism instead of a bloodline would be fun for current effectiveness and future fun). A minor pre-cog, clone, or puppet specialist would also be great for taking point on swamp runs (Lizard tail + clones = survivor mode).

[] Sukita Teira
- Controls all bugs within a radius measured by city blocks.
- Instinctive spatial understanding of bugs' positions.
- With practice, learns to use bug senses to augment her own.
- 1/1024 chance of evolving into Kepuri Teira. Gotta catch 'em all!

But seriously, a bloodline or clan technique involving bugs is very relevant in a swamp. Too bad we came from an archipelago region.

Hm. I am thinking a combination of a Scout and a flashy Mid Range fighter with decent Tactical Movement. So, a guy that lets mosquitos roost in his body and a dual element blood line user, because everyone goes for the one with the flashy and dangerous ninjutsu first. Should allow us to play our close combat card the best way possible.

Questions for the GMs

1. What is the mechanism whereby we gain XP? Is it correlated to actions we take, and if so, how?

2. How long does it take to justify a training period? A day, a few days, several weeks?

3. What are the notable capabilities among our party of 25, that would synergize with us? For example, do we have at least one competent sealmaker in the group, even if not jounin-level?

1. It will depend on many things, such as how difficult is the challenge the character overcomes, how innovative and effective the solution was, compared to alternatives, and so on. There is no easy formula for this, but, in general, life-or-death struggle against a superior opponent (or an equally intense social or technical challenge) will be more rewarding than sparring with your teammate. You'll get XP if you succeed or manage to survive to learn from your failure.

2. Depends on the skill and circumstances. Levelling taijutsu after you've been spending weeks in melee combat will be faster than levelling fast-talk. Be aware, that even though the XP is fungible, you may not always have the choice to train in any particular skill. If you're stuck in the mountains with noone to talk to, practicing fast-talk may be touch problematic.

Also, if you need me to answer something, summon me with @AugSphere. Otherwise I might miss your post.

We would be limited by the lack of experience. Canon P1 Kankuro, puppet master in a village known for the skill, could only control one or two puppets at a time.

Having a bloodlimit costs more but gives us significantly better short-term options by giving us a large number of puppet equivalents to control.

@XkaliburRage the max for skills depends on the attributes in a complicated formula listed here. Basically you look at a skill you want to level, apply modifications to the attributes you have based on the listing, and whatever smallest number you get is your max level.

How does the clone technique work in this setting? Does it pop if hit, or is it ethereal? If it's ethereal, I would suggest that one of our teammates have a few points in it, to create multiple copies to help us escape, or to confuse our enemies in a tiajutsu fight. Someone with a few points in that could be a real life saver.

One of our teammates definitely needs to have some social skills. Otherwise we're sort of fucked in any situation we need to talk our way out out of.

Puppet Performance: Skilful Achievement with a Human Body

Can we turn this into some kind of bloodline limit, limited to corpses only?
No dice, you're not from Suna.
@AugSphere Could we add a "Domesticate Animal" skill?

If so, maybe we should have a teammate with 4 ranks in it? Having pet Gators later down the line would be very nice.
You could try, but I suspect you would succeed less well than humans nowadays have at domesticating gators, that is to say not well. And you would be figuring it out from scratch while they have reams of data. I am also quite sure you would not survive the training process, and you'd probably need to breed gators for many, many generations until they were suitable.

I am unsure how the gators would react to one of their own being captured, since they are "disturbingly intelligent".
