Compromise and do any training seals related to casino seals and then them? Would be more time-efficient.

Well I just think having a chakra detector seal Would be incredibly useful. Especially since Minami got killed because we thought a ninja was a civilian. I expect if we research the begginer seals we won't ever get around to the casino seals

We may also want to give Ino some seals. Because, uh, she's still got a favor hanging over our head for getting her relative to teach us Tears of Red.

Maybe give her something like 6 sets of Air Domes, 4 Purifiers, and 6 Tunneler's Friends?
By "this", you mean the briefing itself?
Correct. I also strongly suspect he'd want to brief us before we had an audience with any of the clan heads, whose clan members we know, that we haven't met yet (Inoichi, Choza).

There are two types of casino scroll; they generate light and sound respectively when someone moulds chakra in their vicinity. Hazō doesn't know how hard they would be to research
Casino seals work by reacting when chakra is moulded; I don't think it would detect passive chakra levels.

Hm. Actually, we should probably ask Jiraiya if he has research notes for the casino seals.

I mean, I strongly suspect Arikada was their author, and since we brought her in alive...

Please, please, pretty please with cherries on top, propose this to Jiraiya. I don't promise the outcome will be good but please please please propose it.

Whelp, that settles it. @Plan Makers: we're committed.

It does make sense that Leaf would be making as many Skywalkers as they could, because Skywalkers are useful and Leaf likes having useful things. I just don't like the Genin being brought up as evidence that every Leaf-nin has a pair by now or something ridiculous like that.

That is, however, their stated goal. Turning themselves into a 100% air-mobile force before anybody else makes a move is their best hope of averting another imminent world war.

True but it gets us in that tech tree. Where as the Nara seals are all just sound which we all ready have a bunch of seals in that branch
Good point...

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Would researching the Nara training seals (the tone-based ones) be likely to lower the TN of the Sound-based Casino seals appreciably, given that we already researched Alarm seals and Banshee seals?

  • Can we expect to take a similar amount of time to decode, convert, and produce our versions of the casino seals as we took for the storage and explosive seals?
You had help from Kagome on storage and explosive seals, which reduces TNs significantly (even more so than research notes), so it will likely take longer to reverse-engineer the casino scrolls. Barring more sealing failures, however, it should take an amount of time on roughly the same scale (weeks of concerted effort rather than months).

I know that we have a number of seals to learn and a number of ideas for future research, but we could also request some new types of seals from Jiraiya. I mean we could just ask about chakra detection/ sensor seals. But I guess we do have a big backlog.

@faflec , After the Arikada mission, we asked Jiraiya if technique hacking would be useful for us or not (the answer is probably yes), maybe we should ask Jiraiya if he thinks we should learn it now or wait. Maybe saving 55 xp for level 10 and invest them next update depending on his answer?

We also haven't asked Akane what her favor from Jiraiya was (or did I just miss this?).

Also, why not ask for further earth ninjutsus? Besides that our GM's get a headache or that the update is bloated.

Further, we have to talk with Jiraiya about the whole Pangolin Empire mess we caused and what the Toad's are thinking (preferably between Mari/Hazou/Jiraiya first to avoid putting Keiko in a difficult position). I mean he hasn't said anything up until now, so maybe they are happy with the results, but this needs to be cleared up.

A not so pressing issue is that I think the Pangolin need to be probably informed about Keiko's current situation as Jiraiya's daughter, yes they know that, but I don't think they understand the village system very much and that Keiko is:

a) The Hokages daughter (assuming he doesn't get removed in 2 months).
b) She could become the Lady Nara in the future.
c) Leaf is among the 5 most powerful villages on the Human Path.

Most Pangolin seem to know absoultely nothing about Humans (understandably) and are quite disrespectful towards her. The only Pangolin that really seem to respect her are Panda, Pankurashun and Pantsa (because he only told Pankurashun about Keiko being a missing nin later). My thought process is that once they learn how incredibly influential Keiko and her Clan can/will be on the Human Path makes them more inclined to work better with her/us.

It look like we're merely going through the motion of doing sealing research for the sake of sealing research, which to be fair, something we need to do from time to time.

Instead, I think we should identify the most fruitful area of research, sealing or not.

You're not wrong.

I think we need to examine short-term basic seals and mods, and evaluate which are unusually useful to us. As well as which mid-term projects we want to start working towards.

At the same time, I am not averse to the idea of researching a lot of minor seals, such that we have a trick up our sleeve for every occasion. Asking J for advice on useful seals to get seems wise.

Finally... the beginner seals. J gave us that book of cantrips for a reason, and I suspect that that reason is one part "having lots of really situational and useless seals you can make" to fifty parts "slightly lowering the TNs in a wide range of fields". As such, we should probably finish the textbook before doing more research.

The important thing about doing the begginer seals lowering the TN it is only useful if it lowers any seal that is difficult for us to research. If you have seals that will be useful and are in our reach they also lower the TN of any other seals. So casino seals which would have taken weeks at sealing 14 will also lower the TN of more seals than the begginer seals as well as give us a way to identify ninjas

Molding chakra is a poorly defined term but it' might be a way to check if Ninja are using henge. But it's a step into developing a generic chakra detector. Where as the begginer seals probably don't help with any projects we want to work on currently

I hope we can use them to create a trigger mechanism that allowes us to activate seals with handseals or just a thought (some jutsus can be triggered without them, therefore molding can happen without seals)

How do you propose a chakra radar would work, especially in the context of the chakra diffusion problem.

Maybe making a seal that recognizes other seals being activated? We could detect someone coming towards leaf using them.

Kagome thought it would be years of work, but probably doable at his level.

Now that we have a semi-stable position in Leaf, we might want to get Leaf's sealmasters working on researching lots of variants of seals in this field to lower the TNs of chakra-sense seals for the village's collective seal-academia.

'Appreciably' is kind of fluffy there.

Will they cut the difficulty in half? No. Will they reduce it more than one percent? Yes.

NB: I'm a Murikan, so for me 'spelled' is a past participle and 'spelt' is a type of wheat. If you're a Brit then you may feel free to mock the poor spelling of the colonials.
You're forgiven for this transgression if you accept that "burnt" is, and always shall be, superior to "burned".

On a serious note, I haven't heard all that much about what people think about the drive behind recent events, though admittedly I skim this thread at best. It doesn't seem all that likely to me any more that this is just a Jiraiya plot as many others previously suspected, but some things about the recent past just scream inconsistent. Something is up.

IMO, Kagome is basically the fortune-teller when it comes to weird entwined plots. You should just ask him his opinion; he probably has an opinion and I bet it's smarter than ours. A group or private conversation with him would be a good addition to an upcoming update.
