PS: Should we only count votes for people who voted this round or no?
I think we should have the numbers speak for themselves.
Right now, if you consider this a vote changing period, Sticky Finish has 5 and Sticky Finish + tell Inoue has 6
(I've just learned my lesson about voting early and not editing. My vote at the top of this page wasn't counted)

You're listed under Sticky Finish above. Should you have been on something else?

No. I voted for the plan since i overlooked that telling Inoue was taken out of it at first, and then stuck with it since it seemed to be the only plan that did a little of what i wanted anyways, namely searching for more info on the Hunter and the merchants before moving on.

Since now Sticky Finish is locked in and we have been told to vote on whether to tell Inoue about our Sealing or not i would prefer to tell her.

Didn't we have a voting system where you could vote for multiple plans, but in the end the plan with the most votes won?

Okay, good. The bot results were a bit of a mess. Among other things, several people had votes that were typos of other plans. I straightened it out manually and was worried I'd misplaced you.

@Twofold snuck telling Inoue about blank making out of the plan, we only caught it a few hours ago.

It was honestly not my intention to sneak anything in or out. I thought I had been vocal enough about my opinions that it would be self evident that the sealing thing would not be in the plan. Maybe this is a good lesson for everyone to read the plans they vote for really carefully and not get swept up by the inertia of other people voting.

With @Chronic and @MadScientist changing their votes it's obvious even without counting that the majority wants to reveal the sealing. So we should go with that.

That being said, the current confusion is totally my fault. My apologies for that, I'll take better care next time.

EDIT: The plan also does NOT involve buying weapons from the Caravan. In case someone missed that.

I don't think anyone is accusing you of doing anything nefarious. You were very upfront about the fact that the plan was getting edited and you kept the plan revisions so people could see what was changing. Fog of war and all that.

Also, double post.

I just went back and read through the "Sticky Finish" plan. It boils down to "gather some information; if we find nothing of interest about the Black Hunter of the caravan, go to a new village". It doesn't say what to do if you DO find anything interesting.

I don't know how to resolve this, or even what to ask for as an extended vote. Suggestions?

I need to talk with the other GMs to find out what (if any) interesting information might be available, but I figured I'd point out the issue now.

I think in that case we should have another vote-point. I mean, we don't know what we will find yet, and we will only be able to make an optimal decision about what to do with the new information once we have it.

Well, we can't/shouldn't make plans for that when we don't know what we'll find. I'd say the intent behind that plan is "if we can't find any information about these subjects, move on to a new village. If we do find something (like finding out stuff on Caravan or Black Hunter), the next update will cover that and ask us when a major decision comes up about what we should do about it."

As a point of information, the thought 50ish pages ago was that, if we could get a Katana, Mori should learn that in the quick draw style, often known as iaijutsu. As it is a fast weapon, that leaves the hands open for throwing or ninjutsu most of the time.

However, a decent Katana is not a farming/mining village item.

A fencing type weapon makes more sense for us and out bloodline.

Like people have said, it's pretty hard to act on information before we get it. I guess we could have listed possible options of what we might find out and then different contingencies for all of them. But honestly I would feel better if we voted again if we actually find out something major.

What? You want to soil our beautiful and romantic fists with crude steel? Where is your appreciation of the springtime of our youth?! :D

Actually I've been thinking about a taijutsu style we could develop for ourselves in the future but I've yet to actually type it out. I think something like that would be more interesting for us than a weapon.

Their hollywood hype aside, katanas are actually not great weapons.

Sharp? Yes.

Able to punch through body armour? A western longsword does much better.

Durable? Again the longsword comes out on top.

But a longsword is still not a good weapon.

As far as melee weapons go, nothing really beats a spear. Historically speaking, swords were mostly used as last resort side-arms for if a soldier lost their spear/pike/glaive/whatever-sharp-thing-on-a-long-stick-variant.

And for good reason.

Spears have long reach. Swords don't.

If you're fighting someone that you can reasonably expect to have roughly the same athletic ability as you, then you want to be able to stab them from further away than they can stab you. Hence you put your stabby-thing on a longer stick than them.

One useful idea I've seen is to carry a stick as a non-suspicious generic walking stick, and to have a blade with a hollowed cylindrical handle in your pocket that you can jam on the end of the stick to turn it into a spear at a moments notice.

(The person who came up with this idea, a youtuber historian called Lindybeige, also suggested attaching a slingshot to the other end that you could disguise by covering with a bit of cloth wrapped around it, but that wouldn't really be useful unless we run out of shuriken.)
