Yeah, hence "kind of". I'm just not sure how much there is to say besides "Don't piss off any more Sannin" and their suggestions for Hazou's social protocol going forward. Like, I can see why AARs are useful in general, but this was a situation with a single key failure point.

What sorts of things can you imagine the team saying that would be useful?

Because it wasn't just that one thing silly.

There were the whole Kabuto situation in which the team got tricked or didn't drive the bargain as hard, or being being too paranoid and not paranoid enough(there's only so many paranoia to go around, as our attention spans are not unlimited).

Hazo mouthed off a little too much each time, and so on.

@eaglejarl, @Velorien, @OliWhail : I an genuinely peeved that you aren't even giving us limited information on relative skill. Stuff that it makes no sense for Hazou not to have a vague idea of.

I want something like "You can expect most (genin|chunin|jounin) to have <min> to <max> level in their main combat skills" or broad XP ranges.

Not having a broad idea of relative skill level is really unreasonable.

Because I'd rather me and @Kiba have two different plans and shamelessly steal off each other than have a single plan...

[X] Action Plan: Not Actually Free Time

Things-I-need-help-on in Orange.

Goals:
  • Survive.
  • Do what the team says.
  • Do our After-Action Report.
  • Help out the team.
  • Help ourselves.
Methods:
  • Do what the team says.
    • This takes priority over everything. Because punishment.
    • STAY FUCKING CALM. DO NOT BITCH. DO NOT WHINE. DO NOT COMPLAIN. DO NOT MUTTER UNDER YOUR BREATH.
  • Do our After-Action Report.
    • During our free time, make a report covering...everything that happened since we fled Hot Springs.
      • Specifically, this covers our first meeting with Jiraiya, our stakeout and capture of Arikada, and the time we spent in Konoha.
      • Do this by ourselves. Don't pester the others.
      • Our mistakes:
        • OPSEC mistakes:
          • Entire team sans Inoue got caught by ninja patrol in Sarubetsu.
          • Bloodline secrets revealed by hyper-intelligent "doctor" in Sarubetsu.
          • Hazou & Noburi not noticing Kabuto's manipulations at first.
          • Hazou freaked out in the library and gave away Iron Nerve secrets.
        • Social mistakes:
          • Interrupting our mission report to Sarutobi.
          • Yelling/assaulting Asuma.
          • Disrespecting/fucking up with Jiraiya.
        • Getting manipulated:
          • Sarutobi and his "grandfather" face.
          • Kabuto manipulating us in the first and last meeting.
          • Jiraiya having us socialize with our peers to make "friends" (social ties for further control).
          • Nara and his interest in our methods.
          • Ino flirting with us.
          • Lee "flirting" with us and seeming less intelligent than he actually is.
          • Jutsu trainers controlling us by making us afraid of her weird persona.
          • Auntie and her "calm down" attitude.
          • The "showing off" of Konoha and the "wow Konoha is super-awesome/rich/cultured" attitude it conveys.
          • In the end, Hazou vowed to make it back to Leaf to Akane, like the benefits of Leaf were the end goal and not just another way for Jiraiya to exert control over us.
            • Meaning Hazou took what was fed to him hook, line, and sinker.
    • When Inoue-sensei says, convene with the team and give our individual report.
      • Hazou doesn't decide when the team combines their notes. Inoue-sensei does.
  • Help out the team.
    • Noburi: Medical training with Hashimoto.
      • Discuss the possibility that Hashimoto was compromised by our movements.
        • Maybe we should stake out Hashimoto's general location (less house, more neighbourhood) to see if anyone else is watching the place.
          • Maybe ask Mari to do this, since the post-nerf means it'll be difficult for us to check the town without being caught.
        • Develop ways to bring Noburi over without arousing suspicion.
          • Bringing Noburi: Go with Inoue-sensei. When dropping off Noburi, Inoue-sensei make a clone (Henge'd into Noburi's disguise) to make it seem like we were just passing through. Inoue-sensei + clone leaves.
          • Moving the Barrel: Cover in tarp/larger object, put it as part of a larger group of items (e.g., supply of materials?)...??
      • Ask Noburi what would be the best way to get Hashimoto's favor, and offer to help with that:
        • Just normal cash
        • Macerator seals
        • Information
    • Keiko: Pangolins.
      • Ask Keiko what would be the best way to get the approval of Panchipaama and other potential Pangolin allies, and offer to help with that:
        • Ants
        • Spices
        • Works of art
        • Exotic weapons (Panchipaama liked this)
    • Kagome: Seal research.
      • Offer to make a seal research facility up to his specifications (talk to the team with this).
      • Offer to make use of our bloodline to help make seals.
      • Offer to discuss the reward seals.
      • Offer to discuss Kagome's seals-that-he-never-got-around-to-doing.
    • Inoue: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO PUT ONTO THIS HELP PLEASE
  • Help ourselves.
    • This is to be done as time permits. If the team has other plans we follow said plans over training. We're the servants here.
    • Train our skills.
      • Ask Inoue-sensei for help improving our political/social intelligence.
      • Find time to do personal training when not being a servant/doing chores.
    • Stock up on resources/interesting fauna when possible.

Actually, that's our bad: we'd talked about info that was meant to go into the info post.

As best I can recall, chūnin is going to be at least in the low 40s in their primary skills, and a jōnin at least the low 50s. Expect this post and/or the bigger one to be updated with more official stuff tomorrow when I wake up and go comb the QM chat log.

@faflec @Kiba Please add asking Kagome about his sealing research ideas (assuming we're far enough away from other people for him to feel okay with that). God I need to know what sort of explosions that guy has in mind.

Oh god?!?

WHAT THE FUCKING HELLFIRE

Funny note: A Chunin post-rework is on par with Jiraiya pre-rework in straight Taijutsu.

@Cariyaga I already did. Phrased it in a way so that we'd be offering to help them, not straight-up asking them for said research.

RIP

First off, we need to improve team relationships.

Hazo's alienated everyone with his terrible but panicked decision, and everyone on the tem is going to roast our collective eldritch hivemind ass.

Remember how ignoring that fucked us up BADLY in Hotsprings? We killed one of Jiraiya's assistants and had his sister swear an oath of vengeance against us, let an insane bioseal mistress continue her experiments, and caused massive collateral damage.

Even if everything looks good, it isn't good. Remember all of those other chapters?

Yeah, PTSD does not get helpfully worked with if your leader keeps fucking up social situations.

Second, we're doing chores.

However, we're REALLY good with chores as Hazo, so in-between doing them we can refine our technique.

Hell, maybe we should just ask for chores that require us to learn social skills (for instance, serving dinner) and have Hazo learn how to actively improvise and handle the unpredictable nature of thinking beings, his weakpoint.

Also, research guns and learn how to apply silence and no bright light seals that won't fall off from sheer recoil, because guns being very easy to see and use is a weakness.

Use that as an opportunity to talk to Kagome about seals and recoil.

Finally, let's go improve Noburi's healing skills. We have perfect muscle memory, we can identify nerves and how they work unconsciously, so Noburi can use our subconscious knowledge to improve.

Finally, we need to go find an ACTUAL psychologist for the team. I seriously believe that Team Uplift could be drinking Kool-Aid tomorrow morning without Akane. We need someone, anyone on the team who can tell Inoue that what she's doing with Kei is making her depression worse, not better.

Wait, then shouldn't Inoue have deception checks of ~2000? Or is she getting buffed?

Holy shit.
Does that mean even after a year of constant life threatening missions we're less than halfway to chūnin? What is the typical age of a chūnin, then?

Hazou would know that a typical ninja takes 5-6 years to hit chūnin (if they live that long). The team is, as EJ said, fairly talented, and has been doing a lot more missions than most ninja, so they are still growing fast. Just not "genin to jōnin in nine months" fast.

You can see why we had to rebalance :p
oh bloody ballsacs

yup we need to go straight to sealing research and invent bullshit die modifiers that let us punch in the S-class range

either that or do massive timeskips to gain more XP

@eaglejarl @Velorien There's more places where our skill level was noted (Mist ANBU telling mummy, Inoue-sensei's internal musings when spying on Joutarou). Are those gonna be changed too?

Ok, so we might want to hyper specialize. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what that would mean, but it's pretty clear we're desperately far behind in... well... everything. So we want to get good one attribute at a time. The way I see it, we also need to run far, far away from Leaf and any hunter-nin because we are now incredibly squishy.

Sooooooo we're statistically speaking still absolute trash. Got it.

The ANBU thing yes, because that was mine so I can go edit it.

it's pretty clear we're desprately far behind in... well... everything
Not far behind loads of other genin! Pretty far ahead of them, actually.

Do we even know that we CAN do sealing research post-rebalance?!
