Noburi knows the deal. Both with Akatsuki and with Orochimaru. He is also utterly terrified of Orochimaru and wants to run for the damn hills at the thought of standing next to him while Orochimaru carves Hazō open. Still, he cares about Hazō enough to force those fears down and make himself walk to what he knows is going to be one of the most traumatic experiences of his life. When he got there, he sublimated his fears into aggression -- not a good move but pretty common for frightened teenage boys, even ones who aren't murderchildren trained to use violence as a valid coping mechanism.
Clarification: Does this mean Noburi's statements towards Orochimaru were not scripted? As in, he wasn't supposed to be acting that way, or went too far from what was planned?

As my high school science teacher friend once told me: when one student misses a question, it's on the student. When the whole class misses the question, it's on the person who wrote the question.
As a middle school teacher, it's usually on the person who wrote the question but sometimes you're really stuck with the bottom of the barrel because you have another class that did it just fine. Speaking of, is MfD mirrored on AO3 or maybe FFN? Maybe they read better over there- (/jk)

(Incidentally: remember when Kei got pissy with Hazō during the Isan mission because she asked you for ideas, you didn't have any good ones, so you offered some half-baked ones in hopes that batting them back and forth could polish them into something useful, and you assumed that she would interpret them charitably and understand that this is what you were doing? Yes, SV, you are Kei.)

Remind me what the point of us getting as much chakra as we could was?
Being able to summon Cannai, mostly. And also to do more rune infusions without Nobiri's help.
More evidence that Tsunade disabled our bloodline in the aftermath of imprinting the Great Seal

@eaglejarl did Hazou take an Iron Nerve imprint of this seal?
It was a Five Seal Barrier. The tent is specially made. (Not sure whether this was visible to Hazō but I'm in revelation mode so let's roll with it.)

Hazō did not expect him to do that, no.

"I guess I'll just have to learn biosealing so that I can undo whatever he does."

Kagome-sensei, who had been silent throughout the debate, facepalmed and walked off.

Mari rubbed her face tiredly.

@eaglejarl, a polite request for clarification.

Kagome saved the Arikada bioseals, way back when, because he knew Hazou was going to want to do something insane like learn biosealing, and he wanted some vetted-bioseals for Hazou to learn from.

Here, Kagome walks away when Hazou mentions learning bioseals.

Is Kagome's reaction due to the "learning biosealing" part, or the "I can quickly learn to dismantle Orochimaru-the-sannin's bioseal?"

I suspect the latter, but still wish to check for confirmation, given the general state of confusion regarding this last update.

Use SC to prepare Force Claws and RRBs for summons and allies who don't have comparable buffs

Any combatant worth their salt already has a buffstack, and RRB / Force Claws aren't part of it. Plus RRB takes extra bonus stunts, and doesn't stack with Skywalkers, and makes one very valuable to Konan.

Force Claws would provide Weapon:4, but the top-level combatants all have equivalent or better abilities already. Tsunade has Strength of a Thousand + weaponized explosive Chakra Scalpels, Naruto has Rasengan, Oro's version of weaponized chakra scalpel might only be Weapon:3, so Force Claws might be some improvement, but he's hardly a melee fighter.

Plus, Konan unexpectedly activating Force Claws on us would score a bunch of friendly kills, as the activate in pockets or on the hands of people who haven't cast their buffs yet.

And they're part of Uplift's long-term kit,and they get significantly weaker if people know we have them, sharing them widely might not be worth it.
Offering a set to Oro to pass off as his own probably doesn't help, but might, and is mostly Opsec-safe.
Cannai is a magical battledog bigger than houses, so IDK how much 3-inch blades will add to his combat style, but it's worth offering. If he says yes, FC-OPSEC is blown, and we might as well give them to every random summon not likely to gut themselves by accident.

"Less than you think," Hazou said. "I should return to my team soon so we can discuss, but I need to share one thing with you before I go, that you should know in case I end up incapacitated in the fight. Have you seen the message I sent you in Arachnid?"

"No."

"I see. In short, I've identified a major source of stress on the Great Seal, and possibly the reason for its original degradation."

Orochimaru blinked. "That seems rather important."

"It is. Let me explain. Basically, the Great Seal is projecting a massive spacetime effect across the entire Seventh Path…"
@eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped Low-priority question, but how did Orochimaru react to this revelation?

Intended Duration: 1(?) day
  • Tonight
    • Chew Noburi out
      • What the FUCK was that back there? Are you TRYING to piss off Orochimaru? Next time you feel inclined to speak to him instead DO NOT.
      • When we get back to the rest of the team, you WILL explain what you said to Mari and Kei, and they can finish chewing you out.
    • Grind as much runic veterancy as chakra allows before sleeping. Prioritize anything that can be done in ~4 hours. Force Domes and Ninja-Radar.
  • Tomorrow
    • Cannai
      • (Recovery permitting) attempt to Summon Cannai.
        • Use, at most, Mild overcharge.
      • If successful, have him meet the team while Noburi clears the Mild Consequence.
        • Then Reverse Summon with him to visit Dogs that might agree to fight in the Riftwar.
      • If recovery doesn't permit the attempt or the Summoning fails, visit Cannai via puppy.
      • Demeanor: Respectful, be aware that they might not respect a Summoner not in the mold of Kakashi. Emphasize the importance of the fight, and accept if they can't be spared at the front for even a few hours.
    • After returning from the Seventh Path continue grinding runic veterancy.
      • Prioritize working on one RER 2.0 if enough time remains in the day to begin shaping. Invoke/Reroll/Timeladder as 'pilot preference.
      • Otherwise, keep working on Ninja Radar and Force Dome, grind veterancy until Hazou feels good about a double-timeladdered infusion or chakra runs out.
      • If we run out of chakra, send Noburi to get some from Orochimaru's test subjects. With a Hazou SC to do the talking.
      • Test how much earth Force Dome's chakra pillar can pierce.

Can we also test if Earth Clones can operate Runes effectively? The answer is probably no, but it's worth testing, just in case. We could save a mountain of chakra that way.
