    • Use Earth Clones to dig up the highly concentrated gold-dirt mixture and store it in baskets.
      • Bring extra shovels, baskets, and storage seals. Draw down the Seal Bank if necessary.

In retrospect, I wrote the conversation I'd been thinking about before, and should have cast that aside to talk about the current situation with pain, rift, x-risk, and afterlives. That was a mistake.

I'll consider this a fortunately non-fatal learning experience.

What are the current state of the Goketsu finances? We were in a tight spot immediately post-election, and then got an infusion of cash from Oro while he was refilling from Noburi for a solid ~week or so.

I ask because I want to figure out if we need to squeeze a mission to our gold mine in before we start researching.

Well, I guess I get points for calling this?

This kinda sucks. Having options is good, but this is a waste. Mind you, we kinda knew that the Tsunade offer might be coming, so asking the toad sages when we did was a bit silly (yes, I'm aware I adopted a plan that kept that request, I know). But we wanted TH for Hazou, and didn't want to delay that, and not taking a chance in case we might get a payoff later would have been also silly and a bad incentive structure. But, it is what it is. So, what now?

Ma and Pa are probably better teachers that Tsunade. She's very short tempered, and they've taught lots of people, inclusive Jiraiya. Tsunade won't be around leaf for more than a few months, whereas a few months to the toads is almost nothing. The toads are Noburi's summon clan, which means them turning on him actively loses a source of power for him. Tsunade finds Noburi's bloodline useful, so she'd probably recruit for a surgery if it was beneficial, or else she's so petty that it wouldn't be worth it anyway.

Honestly, the biggest thing I think Tsunade provides is specialized healing XP, and maybe cool ways to use vampiric dew for medical procedures, which is neat. But on the flip side, toads likely give wide range of combat training, can also help with technique modifications, will likely tutor for longer, and impressing them goes a long way to getting them as combat summons, which would be a massive buff to Noburi's combat power. Plus, if Noburi backs out, it'll likely screw Hazou as well, which is a downside we don't really see on the other side.

Like, a medic turning down Tsunade seems wild. But if she starts by telling us it isn't an apprenticeship, and getting grumpy at us for being so talented that everyone's raving about us? I'm sorry, but we've got options. And it frees Tsunade up in a way that's more beneficial to leaf than the comparative of having the toads free.

Pretty easy choice, imho.

Edit: to be fair, Tsunade's thing is for a few months, and the toads are for a few weeks provisionally, with potential to extend it. Which means higher floor with Tsunade, training wise. Still worse ceiling, and potential to no longer be a summoner if we scorn them though.

Movable seal

A derivative of the Force Wall, this variant is meant to be worn on the outside of the hand, forming a curved gauntlet, can be used to enhance the user's taijutsu by having impossibly sharp, invisible blades extend a decent distance from the user's fists.

Ideally:
  • Provide a significant bonus to hit, since the blades are invisible and can extend a significant distance from the user's fist.
  • Provide a bonus to WR of taijutsu by way of the impossibly sharp blades
  • Can't cast jutsu that take both hands while they're active. (Ie. jutsu that aren't Substitution-like)
  • Take a Supplemental action to de/activate
Could require a stunt to use, representing the requisite training not to cut your own arms off by accident.

The use of them could also be turned into an upgrade to Roki that provides an additional bonus over the base style. As it is easier to faint about your intentions when you have invisible knives.

Also, called Oro deciding Noburi not taking the modification isn't his problem. Shame though.

We really need to get Tsunade that money soon. Welching on her would be bad, even if Noburi wasn't turning her down. I don't think we have time to strip a gold or iron mine, but maybe we should make time. Screwing over the Hyuga wouldn't be terrible, but whatever we do, we should do it soon. We need our word to mean something, especially if it is to help fund medical projects.

I also think Naruto's take on the seal clan stuff is fairly fair. Though, we did give away Jiraiya's stuff, and he kept it (or sold it to win power). But the third and seventh decisions were each funky, and the final outcome isn't something we want as standard practice for others, I think.

Though, we'll get on finishing that jinchuriki seal once we have TH. Which we're paying for ourselves. Just saying Naruto.

If nothing else, if it ever gets to that point, Hazou charging a fortune to teach TH, runecrafting, or sealing with shadow clones is an easy way to get back money I guess? Though we would need to invest in sealing that isn't a stunt or lootboxes more first I guess. Same with TH. Until then, WMD/versatile researcher montage go?
 
Will vote for plans that explain why we recommend Noburi go with the toads; and either quickly generate some cash, or else head in the direction of that magic spring in Sand. Cool adventures, power ups, that good XP, and not being destitute, yay!

... hey, any chance we can stage a summoning ritual for Ami just before we leave? Last time, it was so effective the mere possibility that it would be voted-in summoned her! And then we'd be immediately out of Leaf, safe from any consequences!

It'd need some revisions, given Shiori and Akane's unfortunate fates...
 
Orochimaru made the biosealing version of the Haber process. Except instead of a catalyst to process nitrogen it's intelligence to process chakra

Pretty easy to make time for it, imo. Just head out to the gold mine as our first destination after leaving, and spend a day sucking up all the gold and ferrying it back to Leaf through 7Path. Then just resume normal operations.

As I understand it, our M.O. is primarily to research as we go. Find a secluded spot, do a research cycle, then move to the next spot during our SSA days. I wouldn't be surprised if visiting the mine took approximately zero time away from our research if we timed it right.

I'd like to lean a little harder on the Toad sage scales. Point out that it's a few months of not-apprenticeship with Tsunade vs years of training with the sages.
Emphasise TH training as potentially critical to Necromancy.
At the end, explicitly say that we recommend Toad Sages.
 
Sadly we no longer have a plan to end all chakra beasts without first solving resurrection, but thankfully resurrection remains on the table.
 
Noburi should 1000% play hard to get. Tsunade is going to fume at being a medics second choice, especially if and when he still spends all the time he can at the hospital.
