      • Goketsu Akane and her students are a week late returning from a standard mission.
      • You will be organizing a search party from the Goketsu estate and request their assistance.
      • Tower messenger additionally requests an audience with Naruto ASAP - you'll bring Shikamaru.
    • Get back to Goketsu now. Rally the clan.
    • Optimize all with Kei/Mari/Yuno.
    • Search party:
      • Defer to Shikamaru if Tower orders conflict with your goals.
      • Yuno, you're leading. We're here to enable you.
        • Your goal is to locate Akane if she's within the borders of Fire.
        • The full resources of the clan are at your disposal.
          • Anyone else who's here, please chip in whatever you can.
        • Assemble your team and leave. We want you gone within the hour.
        • Which trackers/sensory types do you want? Aburame, Hyuuga, Inuzaka?
        • Should we come? We have tracker Dogs but might be more valuable coordinating in Leaf.
        • Bring Noburi for medicine and chakra.
        • Set up Summon communication schedule, channels.
      • Get Skywalker/Skytower permission.
    • Mari, privately:
      • This is secondary to finding Akane.
      • A Hagoromo clerk missed the the overdue status of the mission, perhaps intentionally.
      • Vengeance is a secondary, but please act to preserve any evidence of their guilt or innocence.
    • Shikamaru, privately:
      • Tone: discussing EM proliferation without violating OPSEC.
      • Please confirm you're leveraging resources commensurate with the risk of Akane's potential capture.
    • Naruto:
      • Let Shikamaru lead the meeting.
        • Goat, Owl, and Panda can verify EM.
      • Request village resources - chiefly, any trackers/sensors that were recalcitrant.

Vote for this if you want an all-hands-on-deck approach wherein Hazo consults experts and respects their advice. Other topics of note include 'holy shit Orochimaru is going to capture and flense Auntie Ren and then probably figure out we lied to him, let's do something about that', 'Mari, I don't want the Hagoromo getting away with this if they were involved', 'oh, the KEI probably care about this', and more.

I agree it seems like it can be short, but it's also going to be a very time-limited update, so I'm not fussed about the single experience point.

Mentioned on discord but noburi could Summon the Toad Sages to accompany the group. Given the severity of the situation we can make it worth their while. Have Mari persuade them if necessary

Due to upkeep costs Noburi would probably need to stay behind to refill

Would they have the range? Or do Summons not have those limits?

Why are we sending a message to the KEI? I say this because while we are asking for their resources, we don't actually mention any resources they could offer us. I feel that this is just a "contact our allies" button instead of a "contact our allies" button.

Also, can we emphasize that we are sending messengers to "Naruto" over "the Tower"?

(Personal opinion says we should tell Naruto in-person and send clones everywhere else, but that's just me)

Finally, please please please have a message sent to Asuma. I know it's implied, but I feel we should state explicitly that we are sending a message via Seventh Path to Asuma, or through Neji/Minami.
 
@faflec it's 80 miles from Leaf, it's not close to the border. Less than half a day's travel is not anywhere close to the border. I was aware of your quote. It does not change anything.

The Swamp of Death is very much close to the border; it's the point where the NW river splits (right above "Grass" where the "Hidden Grass Village" label is).

Actually, @eaglejarl @Velorien @Paperclipped Could we confirm where Akane's mission was/where the Wakare Woods are? I have been under the impression that they're somewhere between the Swamp of Death and the border between Fire and Grass, but I wish to confirm.

Also, the idea of sending a clone to meet with Naruto is pretty funny, though I honestly don't have a strong opinion in any direction on that. And I agree, making sure to explicitly pass word to Asuma sooner rather than later is good.

Yeah that's inconsistent with the travel times we've been given. Tanzaku Gai is about 80 miles from Leaf so the Swamp is much farther than 4 hours travel. Either the travel times are wrong or the location is

They have manpower, they're owed favours, they can extract favours ('we'll give you a ticket if your jonin takes on this mission'), they have ties to Leaf, they have knowledge of the terrain and the chakra beasts, they have money...

They have an incentive to go look and we're aligned with them. Contrast this to not letting them know immediately that we found out that three of their genin are likely dead and inviting them to join the search party. If there was (say) an Aburame genin involved, would you think twice about sending a runner to Shino? This is a no brainer. They're less urgent than the Nara and Yamanaka, but still important.

I don't know how much chakra we have and I'd rather not exhaust it unless necessary. We might run the Koi pond dry for this, frankly. Sending a conventional runner to Naruto is going to get him the information at roughly the same time as everyone else, and we don't want to talk to him about this without Shikamaru present anyway as we aren't authorized to tell him about EM.

Naruto is probably the one person who can't get upset that sending a clone to meet with him was a sign of disrespect or whatever.

Huh. I did not consider the Genin-angle. This is fair; I would suggest we explicitly point them out as Akane's KEI students for clarity, and possibly enlist their aid for that reason. Maybe specify that we are looking for competent trackers/investigators?

Not making a clone for Naruto is fair, though I still argue that we should send a Hazou to talk to him. Partial on just sending a message to Ino, but that's got its own problems. Hm.

Minami is at the Chunin Exams, as well as Neji; they'll check in at the Conclave before Asuma and could get the word out to him faster than just waiting for him specifically.

We should have 300 chakra, enough to make 6 clones. I think the current proposal is to send one to Goketsu estate to tell Mari/Nobs, one to Nara to tell Kei/Shika, one to Yamanaka to tell Ino, one to the KEI, and have Hazou go to Naruto himself. That's 4 clones, should be fine. And we can just get Nobs to top us off. Less than 200 chakra is hardly a dent.

Here are three versions. One wordy, and one concise, depending on space requirements. And, well.

Conclave: Give him his drink, only polite. Follow Enma's lead, we know the plan. He has more power/credibility than us, so we ask questions/help direct conversation/offer a collaborating account as needed. Push to get Bosses/people with power together, soon. Don't try to command a boss summon, we're just here to help fix things.

My plan is already doing that - the message is that Goketsu Akane and her students (the KEI will know that they're KEI) have gone missing.

I will expend significant effort to ensure that our girlfriend does not find out that her girlfriend is probably dead in a letter carried by some genin she doesn't know.

The Yamanaka are a well-established clan with significant resources and their clan head has every reason to expend a nonzero sum of those resources to put together the best possible SAR team. Now is not the time to slight Ino, even if it wasn't moral horror to do anything less than let her know as personally as possible.

I'm currently sending Prime to Goketsu, and clones to Nara, Yamanaka, KEI, and Naruto. The chakra incurred by the two extra clones (I'd originally sent messengers to Naruto and KEI) is probably worth it, although if someone does the math (chakra in the pond, how much we might burn on the SAR effort) and tells me they disagree I'll cede to them.

IIRC we have 40 koi and therefore 4000 chakra from the pond to play with.
