so sorta new to this quest. anyway I was wondering how I should approach this quest. I cant seem to find the info on the system.

just wondering how I should aproach this thread. on chapter 5 and just wondering if I should avoid mechanics until a certain point like in forge of destiny.

anyway pls give me suggestions on how to read this quest as a newbie if ya can. how to get info on mechanics and xp
I'd suggest ignoring the mechanics until you're more caught up; the system's gone through several overhauls since the beginning of the quest.

The second post of the thread is chock full with info.
Here are a few options, if any interest you.
Can post your thoughts. Discuss with others. Mention what you want to do.
Can reading the plans and voting for which you want. If you want to vote for a plan press thread tools in the top right. Then press vote tally, click tally, and it'll show you the plans available. You can vote for as many as you want.
Can make a plan yourself

All academy students are chakra capable or they would not be academy students.
Clarification: You only get into the Academy if you have a chakra system capable of becoming a ninja, but first- and second-year Academy students don't have meaningful reserves or any ability to channel chakra. That's stuff you start learning in third year.

Welcome! Nice to have you. How did you find us?

@Halberdier and @roobee already mentioned this, but we shifted rules systems partway through the quest. I wouldn't worry about mechanics until you're caught up, but if you're interested then it's all linked in post #2. For quick reference:
Again, don't be overwhelmed: There's a lot there and you can participate in the quest just fine without ever once looking at it.

Voting is by approval, so vote for as many things as you like. Voting closes on Wednesdays at 12pm London time for @Velorien's updates and 9am New York time for mine. (NB: For me it's '9am although possibly a bit after if I'm late running the vote tally.') Updates come out on Thursdays (Velorien) and Sundays (me), but there's no specific time as to when.

Also, be sure to stop by the Discord and say hi.

Yeah, that was my implication there. Thanks for clarifying!

Hey everyone, not sure if this is on-topic or not, but my significant other bought me the game "Dragon Age: Origins" for 2019's Christmas. Well, because of personal stuff, college, and some more personal stuff, I've only just now gotten around to playing it and I have thoughts:
  1. Morrigan is such a liar and is adorable.
  2. The Fade reminds me of MfD's Out.
    1. Separate world, connected/accessible through minds and seals/spells
    2. Spiritual entities are eldritch and not fully understandable
    3. Humans can become infected by the beings living there
      1. though some are friendly!

Basically wanted to share my thoughts on the similarities between the "Fade" and the "Out." Thank you, goodbye, you may resume your previously scheduled discussions.

@MadScientist How does your plan deal with the fact that probably neither Hazō nor anyone else in our camp has ever seen a functioning aqueduct or sewer system?

To answer the mechanics part: The mechanics have changed a few times. The older ones are irrelevant now. Still I wouldn't bother worrying about the mechanics until you catch up or nearly do so, since they are a lesser part than actually knowing what the hell is going on, especially since the Hivemind has a lot of people already working to abuse the hell out of them.

By the way, @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail:

Here's a question which I realized is probably best to ask all of you: Is there such a thing as a person who, when trained, would not have enough chakra to be a ninja, but that would have enough chakra to activate seals? To put mechanics to it it'd be something like 2 CP per level of CR rather than 10 and quadruple cost on top of that.

I ask because, well... if the answer's yes, there's almost certainly an order of magnitude more people who can use seals than ninja, in addition to the potential-ninja who are dropped from the academy.

Hopefully this will break the logjam and let us move on: Yes, go do your experiments. You have my blessing. Build stuff! Tell people things! Behold, freedom of action is yours!

Honestly, I don't know what more you want. I'm not going to go through an aerodynamics textbook and put a checkmark next to the things Hazō knows. Hazō did some thinking, he talked to the 'experts' (there aren't really such people and the closest to such a thing are the guys working on your research team), and now you can do something with it.

Unless you have explicit implementation-level questions, I don't have anything further to say here.

PSA: This is the "EJ is telling us to just go build things" post I was referring to. If, like Kiba, you disagree with me that it frees us from requiring justifications for thinking up aqueducts, vote for a different plan. I don't want to sway voters with things they may not actually agree with.

That said, I think "You have my blessing. Build stuff! Tell people things! Behold, freedom of action is yours!" is pretty unambiguous.

I disagree with the interpretation. But if the interpretation is kosher, I am going to chalk it up to "You can do that?"

I am disappointed none of the plumbing related plans were titled "A Shitty Plan"
