Just few Q:

1) Are we storing bottles with chakra water in storage seals? Is it even possible? It would be useful to have some when Nob is outta reach.
2) how long chakra water works after noburi fill the bottle?
3) what happens when we boil chakra water? Can we make concentrate (like energy gel)? When need of repetetive chakra reffils you dont need to burp after gallons of water and piss every three minutes... On stealth mission it could be very dangerous.
Thx for answers

  1. No, and it is not.
  2. It depends on the container, but it leaks from most bottles in 2-6 hours.
  3. Unknown, probably causes the water to lose containment and the chakra to dissipate.

On another note, shouldn't Noburi have more fate points by now? It's been over a month and he's still at 2.

Maybe he used them all up while talking to Keiko?

And yes, this is now how I imagine FP rerolls to happen canonically:

I prefer a mixture of short, medium, and long term goals, and not all focused on gaining long-term powers. We still have a camp to run, and shelters to construct, since we're apparently still living in tents.
Done.
Do we really think that they have time? Asuma needs to run the whole village via Naruto and Shikamaru already and Keiko is doing helpful Nara things. Maybe just send him to help ? Give Naruto/Asuma + whoever chakra? Or just have him help Shikamaru and send Mari only after Asuma and Choza? Don't want to overwork her.
We're not asking them to make time (though I'll clarify it to be sure); the idea is for us to make ourselves useful for Asuma/Keiko (in a previous section), which frees them up to have time which they can use for us.
Five words form this simple sentence, but it is nonetheless a dangerous one in multiple ways.

Where do we begin?
Made changes so that it's clear Hazou is working on theory/learning what Jiraiya's seal notes entail and Kagome is working on the actual seal infusing/drawing stuff. Please note I haven't stated what seals we should be working on. I honestly don't know at this point what people want (hint hint: tell me).
Right, this is a combination of my previous plan (which wasn't implemented AFAIK), and some other things we could do based on new information. Also, @Cariyaga, I really hope this version satisfies your "give Chouza hugs" urge.

[X] Action Plan: Something Old, Something New
Word Count: 298

Get the clan's approval first.
  • Everyone: Iwa's actions are weird. They didn't attack immediately, and are uncharacteristically treating civilians well.
    • Is Akatsuki involved? Maybe they obliterated Iwa, and they're trying to ingratiate themselves to Leaf.
    • Are they trying to subvert the population? How effective would that be?
  • Work on improving living conditions. Cut down nearby trees and build cabins, get hay...
    • We've done this before. Rince & repeat from before.
  • Spend most of our time helping (and comforting) the current leadership (Asuma, Shikamaru, Chouza). Make ourselves indispensible to them.
    • Mari, what can we do to help lighten the burden of their tasks? Especially Asuma/Shikamaru, they must be at the end of their ropes.
    • Chouza's probably beside himself with survivor's guilt; he's one of the few surviving Clan Heads. Hazou still may be compromised, but someone else can surely check up on him.
    • Possible suggestions for the top brass to implement:
      • Investigate the relief party's story.
        • Send (airborne) scouts to the border, check what forces are amassing.
        • Verify their story. Where's the lumber merchant they were escorting?
      • Contact Suna. They might have been hit too.
      • Use Skywalkers en masse as a show of strength.
      • Leverage Ami, either by demonstrating Mist's already helping or by present a strong Leaf-Mist alliance to deter an attack.
      • Instate Asuma as Hokage, demonstrating Leaf's still unified and capable of fighting back.
      • Reveal Orochimaru's survival, as an invasion would pit him against Iwa.
  • In our spare time, try to improve our personal power.
    • Hazou, Kagome: Sealing.
      • Hazou: Organize, copy (in IN), and pick out seals that'll be useful in the short-medium term.
      • Kagome: Complete seal research.
    • Noburi: IFF Asuma/Keiko have the time, start Summoning training.
    • Mari: Work with the MC to speed up approval of ONE of our proposals, whichever she thinks is best.

@faflec would you mind adding something about the jutsu/technique exchange in the suggestion to the top brass?
I would caution against this until we've refined the idea more and know that the Pangolins will let us share PCJ. For this idea to succeed we'll want to make it look good before we start talking about how we want clans to give up secret techniques.

Though, maybe we could prime them for the idea in some way without outright revealing it.

That actually works better. We just want to get them thinking about it. Maybe say something about how we wanted to see if we could get any level of but in before we did in depth research into the proposal
What if we start with just the KEI, and our contribution is some kind of seal? Are macerators a trump card? Maybe Youthenizers?

@faflec my two cents on your plan: skip the Skywalker demo, and purpose doing summoning training with Neji and the dog summoner (who could be Akane).

Rationale: Either Rock knows about the seals and that we still have them, or they don't. If they know, us wasting seals and personpower for posturing seems ill-advised. If they don't know we have them, or how they work, or think we don't have any more (maybe they thought Jiraiya made them?), then we'd be revealing tactical info for nothing.

For summoner training: it's a lot easier to justify someone like Keiko, who's needed elsewhere, taking the time to train someone in summoning if she's actually training 2/3 people instead, much better tradeoff. We could also use that argument to push for a summoner for the dog scroll to be picked (which I'd suggest Akane over Hazou right now), which is the most we'll be able to say in that selection process.

I don't think valuable seals are worth more to people relative to jutsu, as most people aren't sealmasters. Granted, if we're doing this with clans that's another matter entirely, assuming they have some sealmaster tradition. But for just the KEI, we'd need to agree to continually supply people and/or teach people how to make the seals themselves. Which makes things a bit harder.

Sure, alright. I'll keep Asuma as a possible trainer in case he actually is available, but I'll make sure to have group summoning.

Also, Akane's not the Dog Summoner. No idea where this's coming from.

I know Akane isn't the dog summoner. I'm saying, if they don't have anyone especially in mind, we propose her.

They probably aren't thinking about that, given that a lot of people just died. Again.

Seriously, it's the second massive disaster in Leaf this year. That we know of.

EDIT: Cut some words for consistency and to keep Akane from feeling left out.

Akane is still left out?

Hivemind and Character Improvement Initiative: A list of proposals for implementing anti-frustration features and better performance by both hivemind and MC according to a naked mole rat.

Hazo:
* Greater autonomy. Hazo will be able to develop and do things on his own without needing the hivemind help. This benefit us by smoothing over "bumpy" parts of social and political interaction, while the hivemind focus on strategic direction. This required changes to gameplay that may never be implemented.
* Better politician: He should be able to react and understand the political environment better. Solution: Accompany Mari on business.

Hivemind:
* Character analysis incentive: Good analysis let us place into the context of target characters we may need to interact with. To make the hivemind do this consistently, 1 XP for such effort every update may motivate such effort.
* Character analysis: We need to do them.
* Short, usable, constantly updated checklists. We need to start using them more.
* Early planning: Getting more plans out and early let us focus on improving them instead of panicking.
* More plans: Diversity prevents us from pigeonholing into one plan.
* Veto vote: Use in case of emergency. A veto vote have extra weighted consideration, like three times the normal weight of a vote. Can only be used every five-ten updates or so.
Updated why I want a character analysis incentive.

@faflec, something we might want to put in (along the lines of jutsu potluck) is a sort of offhand statement like "we should look for anything we can do to increase the military capability of Leaf *as a whole*" and just leave it at that, just to plant the idea so we don't look crazy in two chapters.

Either way, I like the plan, it looks good. My only other concern is that it seems like a lot of scenes.

[X] Action Plan: Something Old, Something New

Anyway my opinion is simply that if the QMs thinks the plan is stupid (From Hazo's perspective) they should say so.

Also, the discord links appear to have expired. Help?

They determined from Hazo's perspective, it's something he didn't think it stupid. He had lower than average social skills because of all our stupid social planning, so there's no way to get around that.

The /r/rational discord (and other rationalist or rationalist-adjacent discords) is in lockdown for a few weeks because of a recent event in the wider world that might lead to people trying to troll the server or, much worse, dig through its logs to cast disrepute on its members. It's an unlikely 'might', in the end, but the moderators have chosen not to risk it for the time being, so until the incident blows over only invites that come from mods will work.

I can go ask a mod for an invite to the server and PM it to you, if you want. We're not closing the gates so much as making sure people with malicious intent don't get in.

I am not the most patient of persons today, so forgive me any shortness, but really:

Do you have something to do other than bitch and moan at everyone in a very negative fashion or otherwise loudly and continuously signal disgruntlement?

It's not productive, its certainly not advancing things along a direction you'd like to move along, and its probably not endearing anyone to your point of view. At best, it's merely annoying.

At worst, its quite unpleasant to see "The OP, eaglejarl, replied with 3.2k words to the thread Marked for Death: A Rational Naruto Quest." followed by "What a waste of a chapter." or "A huge waste of time."

So, would you quit your bitching already? Geez.
Kiba, after some thought and evaluation of the applicability of your comments and how I might factor them into the next chapter, I have this to say:

Cut it out.

I am sick of your pissy moaning. Your plans don't lose because the universe is out to get you, because the other players are stupid, or whatever else you're telling yourself. They lose because you want things that other players do not want, and you have consistently failed to convince those players to join your side. In particular, a sizable number of other people clearly aren't interested in politics and would prefer to do something that actually makes a more tangible/immediate difference in the world -- which also fits better into Hazō's / the players' expertise. You disagree with the choices and priorities of the players and the NPCs. We get it.

Seriously. You're a long-time player and I have really enjoyed most of your participation for the last four years, but your "contributions" these days are mostly just bitching. Find something constructive to do, find more prosocial ways of sharing your disagreements, or get out of my quest.

SV does have a block function. I set it up a while ago and it let me actually enjoy the thread again.
