We're studying the internal mechanics of how implosion seals work (storage seal that releases air); Naruto probably wouldn't know the mechanics of its use during a casual glance in the middle of a pitched fight during which time he lost his grandfather figure, was mass-tortured, subsequently starved for months on end, and then lost his uncle/father figure right as he was rescued.

That's, uh, why Kagome's on the project. He actually canonically has the stuff on civil engineering. He would know. I think we can trust Hazou to sanity check it, but if he doesn't I'd still go ahead with it anyway; the only way it works is by commiting as hard as possible to doing something so unbelievable everyone just has to roll with it.
He has a book on civil engineering, not a degree in one. In which case, our plan seems to be directly go to Rice without doing some experimentation.
Errrr... is this a bad time to mention that I wasn't expecting anybody to take the whole Guerilla Civil Engineering thing any more seriously than anything else I say?

Since clans need those, he probably won't do this.
That sounds awesome. Ninja don't really make very good test subjects because of needing to go off on missions all the time and having concerns over opsec, but no one bothers with trying to help civilians. We'd be trying something that has only rarely been tried at all (helping people's psychological state instead of making it worse), with entirely new test subjects.
It might be difficult to get a Yamanaka to help, because of clan secrets. It's certainly worth a shot, but we may have to work around that. Either start on that idea someone had to integrate ourselves with ISC, or suggest it to Keiko/Shikamaru, so that they can negotiate for the Yamanaka to do it for them. Since the Yamanaka are much closer to the Nara, there's a higher chance of their request being accepted (plus they probably know a lot more of Yamanaka's clan secrets so there's less to spill).
I really want to study incorporating genjutsu into therapy, like Mari has done, but it's probably necessary to start with the Yamanaka stuff since that will directly yield information about people's psychology, which is a necessary base before we start poking around with actually providing stimuli.
