[X] Action Plan: Deals and Discussions

Point of fact: Life expectancy in this world is probably around 20 or less for civilians. Hazo is already considered an adult, and those girls would be too. Remember: Deathworld. This isn't a clan selling 4 year olds off.

@faflec Missing a word in
  • Will there be from our Leaf allies/Mist?
Right now there is no verb and it is confusing.
Is that including the extremely high infant mortality rate? Because I know that life expectancy numbers get skewed misleadingly low from all the dead babies and these girls are 15-17 so they're already past that hurdle. I know this is a deathworld but I always heard that if you survived to adulthood you could expect to reach 50 or 60, so 20 would be downright shocking.

Furthermore they're urbanites in ninja clans and therefore likely to be cared for well above the average rural farmer and thus likely to reach the upper ends of life expectancy for civilians.

On the other hand, most of the players have been raised to strongly dislike even imagining underage people in sexual situations. There are also SV rules concerning this. For the good of everyone enjoying this quest, the QMs are making small sacrifices to simulationism in order to accomodate those things.

20 includes infant mortality. 40ish is the number excluding it.

I'm not disagreeing. I'm just noting this should not be surprising or horrifying in context.

Okay, in that case we are not expecting the Uchiha girls to die off in the next 3-5 years, and we in fact probably have decades before they start dying.
Having access to reliable food and mednins as a member of a clan is probably a huge lifespan boost. 60+ wouldn't surprise me.

Heck, since they're not fighting the average civilian clan member is probably longer lived than the average ninja by a lot.

Of course. I was saying that people are going to be considered adults young, and have adult responsibilities young. The idea of a "teenager" as thing is actually a rather modern concept.

Basically, nobles tend to consider kids adults at the same age peasant do.

That said, some things don't change. They're still mentally developing. Decision making abilities and the ability to resist manipulation and intimidation aren't all there yet compared to someone who's 20 or 30.

Sure but at the end of day that doesn't matter to their clan, the Uchiha just want them to make ninja babies so that they don't die off.

I have ti insist on a 3) make sure no clan head currently allied to us would hate us for this. For all we know Naruto could puke the moment he hears we even considered this. Repeat for Tsunade, ISC and Asuma. Can't risk breaking alliance with any of them for this.

Parents, plural, would be impossible in most cases. Gokētsu has too severe a lack of male ninja for that to be even remotely possible. Fathers will be a mix of Hazou and clanless ninja we hire for this, barring a major relaxation of international relations, meaning women will share the same father of their children.
On that note, I recommend barring Noburi from the breeding program. Giving Uchiha one bloodline is bad enough. If he ends up falling in love (or lust) with a harem member, he will first have to convince her to use her contract guaranteed agency to leave the breeding program.

We could just leave both initiation and leading of any sexual interactions up to the women. If any of them "never get around to" inviting ninja to their beds then we know they aren't actually consenting.

Noburi doesn't have a bloodline. It's a set of techniques to re-wire his chakra system.

I could see Hazou being one of the few people who does care, potentially.
Hazo isn't even 15, yet he has been a professional child soldier whose part of an elite warrior caste for the past 4 years, and is currently the leader of noble ninja clan that helps run the village (and therefore the entire country). I seriously doubt Hazo of all people wouldn't consider a person his age an adult.

@eaglejarl: Great update, especially Hazou's badass "Are you a member of Uplift or not?" speech.

Aargh, I don't really know what to do about the Uchiha offer, or dealing with Mari.

My models on what is going on in Mari's head have proven non-predictive, and I don't have alternative models.

I don't think any of us have an idea how to handle Mari.

The Uchiha offer has broken down into three camps: Those okay with it with some minor modifications (ie let Hazou see the kids), those who are worried about them getting IN, and those completely against.

What is this thought-plague style witchery. Is it some side effect of that seal? Did reality get retconned again?
Or is it just a formatting error.

Tragic formatting error caused by the editor grabbing the wrong unicode symbol for some reason. EJ will fix it when he checks up on it and has some free time.
