I'd like to explicitly make the offer to Tsunade. Having her on board will clear all the legal and political problems that might spring up. Plus letting her know that she will be getting around 7 million ryo for every KM we clear should make her happy with us. Happy S-rankers are always nice to have around
Offer a portion of the actual sale prices. It cannot be assumed that the land will sell for what it's theoretically worth, unfortunately.

The researching of laws was part of your previously winning plan, and I'm being lazy by copying it in. The rest of the clan being on-board...I thought we already did that part in a previous plan?

Anyway, we already discussed spending the Ami favor with the clan previously, and I don't see Hazou being dumb about it. The rest...ugh. We've posted that contingency so many fuckin' times, I stg. I'd prefer to not, unless more people voice in favor of adding it.
  • I don't think Hazou had time to research any laws today, nor meet with Asuma/Naruto. It's also not clear that he discussed the larger idea with Keiko.
  • We discussed on what to spend it, but we didn't really confirm that we want to. I'd suggest at least adding "if encounter Ami, spend the favour as discussed".

This is because EagleJarl doesn't want to write Ami and Velorien doesn't have spoons to write anything except interludes. @OliWhail, you up for it?

I have ti insist on a 3) make sure no clan head currently allied to us would hate us for this. For all we know Naruto could puke the moment he hears we even considered this. Repeat for Tsunade, ISC and Asuma. Can't risk breaking alliance with any of them for this.

Yeah that's fair. It doesn't seem like it'd be that abnormal for this setting, but it costs us nothing to check in.

Note for EVERYONE involved:
This might be a sensitive topic for Ino, whose view of Hazo I have not yet figured out to any level of confidence. @faflec your thoughts on adding a special "be particularly aware of Foot-In-Mouth Disease when talking about this to Ino" line?

This doesn't really sound like something we should be discussing outside the clan about, or asking Ino about specifically. Maybe Tsunade at most and definitely Naruto, but ideally we want this as as under the radar as possible. Not because I think it will be frowned upon, but because it's clan business. Plus going to Ino with this sounds really awkward and cringy.

The fact that Mari got them to wait till 18 is the most depressingly unsimulationist thing about this. I'm pretty sure SV wouldn't even allow it if it wasn't for that provision.
Strictly speaking it's not a matter of Mari bargaining for giving Hazou time to hit 18 as much as it is Mari bargaining for giving the Goketsu enough time to firmly settle into our position in Konoha and deal with any major problems before starting up this major program:
Again, that all starts three years from now, when you turn eighteen. I figured that would give us enough time to get all our affairs in order so we weren't dealing with an aggravation of pregnancies while we're still struggling to get established.
The fact that we're waiting until Hazou turns 18 is pretty convenient for us because it means we don't have to deal with the extra squick and potential SV-side problems of Hazou being a minor when this all starts, but I'm not going to question it because it still does make sense in-universe and I'm not inclined to pressure the QMs to have the deal start in one year instead of three, because it really is convenient that we don't have to deal with that.

Agreed. Maybe not everyone, but someone. Shikamaru, maybe. He could tell us what others would think. I'd love his take on if there was a way to get the Uchiha onboard the coalition without this.

If it comes to it, Ino could ensure the girls are actually onboard and not being pressured.

On the topic of land sales, something about the economics is bugging me. If the population really is gradually declining, why would there be any demand for new farmland? Presumably the existing farmers have maintained as much old farmland as they can farm and let the rest go fallow, right?

I guess there's bound to be a degree of economic churn, some small amount of demand, but I'm not sure there'll be a lot.

@faflec Could you please include making sure that Naruto would be even remotely okay with inheriting such a clan?

As in:
  • We can't sign the Uchiha deal if Naruto vetoes or if any standing alliances could break over it.
@eaglejarl Does Hazou have any way of doing an informed guess regarding if any of the clan heads allied to us (including future potential allies like Sarutobi, Minami and Hagoromo) would see this as a deal breaker on moral grounds? Does Mari?

I am asking because we really don't know the social mores when it comes to Leaf clan ninjas and their views on sexual reproduction. Even when it comes to the Nara (who are probably far from the norm) it could well be that "have multiple babies because your clan head signed a contract" is a step too far.

@faflec
Maybe add a line to the Uchiha-deal discussion, talking/asking about how the Kurosawa/Mist in general will react to this.
Because I can imagine it ranging anywhere from resigned indifference to assassinating Hazou.

I thought the point was to do a morality check, in which case our closest allies would be a reasonable checker. Unless you're arguing that Naruto+Tsunade alone would be sufficient for a morality check?

Hmmmmm....at this point I'm starting to think we need a clan meeting to continue the land-clearing discussion. I dunno, I'll think on it.

Edit: Added the favor, forgot to say that.

Um, we're not meeting Ino in my plan, so I...don't think this is needed right now? In the future, yes.

Added.

[X] Action Plan: Deals and Discussions
Timeline: Immediately after Chapter 271.
  • Discuss the Hagoromo & Uchiha deals with Mari.
    • Uchiha deal:
      • Will there be from our Leaf allies/Mist?
      • We want visitation rights for the kids, have an out for the girls if they no longer want to do this, and are concerned about losing IN to the Uchiha. How willing are the Uchiha to budge on this, and what will it cost us?
    • Otherwise, the deals are acceptable. Let's make sure we all keep things quiet so Hiashi doesn't spring a counteroffer on us.
  • Fill Akane in on land-clearing, as per our note.
    • Include discussion on finding buyers; ways to improve the land, such as irrigation; as well as possible profits, like from chakra monster parts and lumber.
    • Ask her to offer Tsunade ~25% profit if she'll help with legal/political problems.
  • Check in on the refugees tomorrow. Make a show of friendliness and empathy.
    • Under the guise of helping them recover, learn more about them. Consider adopting/minionizing those with useful occupations or political connections.
  • Check the casualty list for people we know, like Honoka.
  • Invite Team Nakano (and Jinno) over for lunch.
    • Ask them to bring over some honeyed apples for Kagome; he'd love them.
    • Continue discussion of funding till-n-fills they take.
    • Carefully offer to put them 'on retainer': We'd pay them in seals, jutsu, teaching, etc.; they'd supply manpower for running errands, talking to people, or other stuff when we need it.
    • Let Kagome bring up Sealing teaching; he'd be their teacher, after all.
  • Afternoon clan meeting (high-security room):
    • Discuss working with the Yakuza.
      • We could sell them ice/salt, or promise assistance against their rivals.
      • Should we work with Leaf's xor Mist's Yakuza?
  • Continue scribing Skywalkers in our spare time.
  • Contingency: if encounter Ami, spend the favour as discussed.

Point of fact: Life expectancy in this world is probably around 20 or less for civilians. Hazo is already considered an adult, and those girls would be too. Remember: Deathworld. This isn't a clan selling 4 year olds off.

  • Will there be from our Leaf allies/Mist?
Right now there is no verb and it is confusing.
