Fleshing this out a bit more in a rough draft suggestion sorta way:

  • Idea: Keiko advocates a Pangolin-Snake-Toad alliance conditional on the Snakes backing a Gouketsu Summoner.
    • Coupled with existing allies, the resulting alliance would be nigh-unstoppable, especially with support from our seals being sold (possibly also to the Toads/Snakes).
    • Bonus: Inroads with the Snakes/Toads as a result of gaining those scrolls would give us more avenues to pressure them into changing the treatment of their captive territories.

      • Send Jiraiya's letter to Orochimaru. (Orochimaru could've survived/faked his death.)
      • Ask whether Orochimaru left them a will. Jiraiya wrote a pardon for him and we want his wishes carried out.
    • Idea: Keiko advocates a Pangolin-Snake-Toad alliance conditional on the Snakes backing a Gouketsu Summoner.
      • The alliance, with preexisting allies, would be unstoppable, especially with our seals.

Things have been moving pretty fast, so maybe it's worth coordinating? Divide up the pages since last chapter (or second to last if you're feeling adventurous) and each do part of it.

Well here's my question: What do we know about the Snakes and Toads, both on a political level and social level? Would our plan to secure the Snake scroll be likely to work? Would the Toads (and Pangolin for that matter) be willing to go along with them?

It came as a shock to me that Jiraiya missed Itachi with Samehada. All was made clear in the next chapter though.

He wasn't aiming for Itachi! He was aiming for our agency all along!! Critical hit, J-man. :lol

I'm still super sour about the battle results being randomized, honestly. It killed so many great plot threads and characters, while letting useless ones live !
Still, the QMs seem to have put a lot of work into it and the writing was excellent, so I shan't bitch about it.

I'm still hoping for Orochimaru to be alive though. And I expect Pain to have survived somehow, that cheesy fucker.

Poor J-man though. He was an orphan whose team was basically his family, but then his team went to hell and he was killed by his old apprentice.

Pangolin armor jutsu VS Rasengan. Can it protect us from one hit ?

Probably not. And we can't beat shadow clones anyway, let alone the rasengan. Still, tanking a rasengan with our face would be awesome for the shock value alone, if we could somehow figure out a way to do it...
