Plan Cache, if we want to reference last cycle's plans or pick up one of the threads over here.
Plan Cache:
  • Adoptees: Akane & Tenten
    • Meet with their families, since this concerns them as well.
    • Offer to adopt them into the Gouketsu. Explain what that entails and all that.
  • Make contact with the Snakes.
    • Learn about Snake culture/predispositions from Pangolins, Toads, Jiraiya's notes...
    • Send Jiraiya's letter to Orochimaru to the Snakes (via Pangolin messengers).
      • Orochimaru could have faked his death; either way, he should have it.
      • Also, did he leave a will with you guys? He's been pardoned and we'd want his wishes to be carried out.
    • Consider the possibility of getting on their good side by selling them seals that keep them safe from Pangolin expansionism.
  • Acquire the Snake Scroll
    • Hazou takes lead, bringing Mari (manipulation) and Keiko (Intimidation).
    • Go directly to the Tower and take the Scroll.
      • We're Lord Goketsu and are acting on the direct orders of the Hokage, let no-one stand in our way.
        • We have been lawfully charged with Saving The World, and summon scrolls are invaluable resources that will clear numerous problems for Uplift.
          • We have a right to the Snake Scroll by the letter and spirit of Jiriaya's order, we only need to get that through to the bureaucrats holding it.
      • Brandish Orochimaru's pardon and will as applicable.
    • SAN check with Keiko: if you aren't trained at Summoning is it dangerous to sign the scroll or can you just not use it?
      • If it's safe, sign immediately.
    • Incidentally, it's quite possible there's no-one who'd be willing to teach Hiashi how to Summon in the first place.
  • Suggest trading to the Pangolins an OPSEC-sanitized list of seals to sell, as they've requested.
    • Rewards: While gold/valuables are nice, we could also ask for from conquered nations' jutsu (Condor Space-Time Jutsu?).
      • We'd also like to do something about their treatment of conquered nations. <Help>
  • Pangolin Gold Crisis solution ideas:
    • Selling to the Pangolins with the Toads as an intermediary.
    • Selling the seals from Goketsu to Keiko at full price with he re-selling to the Pangolins.
    • Designate the Pangolin Scroll as an official Goketsu clan treasure, such that all proceeds from the scroll are also Goketsu clan treasure.

Sometimes when we're making a plan we have a good idea that's just outside the temporal scope of the update, but we don't want to cut it from the plan because we might forget by the next cycle. This adds unnecessary words that could have been spent fleshing out the rest of the plan, and may outright cost XP in the worst cases.

This plan cache will hold these subsections so they don't fall into the void between planning cycles. Just ping me with the subsection and, unless it's wildly unreasonable, I'll edit it into the post. I'll keep them there for a while until they either make it into a winning plan, fall out of favour, or the context significantly changes. Depending on circumstances, they might end up in my Side Project Cache, or they might be dropped, and I'll make sure to be transparent about what I'm doing.

I'll do my best to quote this post after every update, so that planmakers can get an easy reminder about what we never quite got to last cycle.

Is stealing another clans' banner an accepted way to prevent them from voting? And what happens if they bring a banner, and then lose it between entering the room and throwing it into the middle?
It's almost certainly not, except I could totally buy that they have it as a law enshrined somewhere from the old days.

I'd be surprised if we could take advantage of such a thing, but I don't want some sneaky jonin pickpocketing us in the room and preventing us from voting via technicality.

EDIT: Ignore this, I completely misread the system. That'll teach me not to skim.

That went well. I'm glad he's both decent and self-aware. Too bad we didn't get to adoption. Though, I think having both Naruto and Lee in the clan might kill Keiko.

"Well, I've only had a few hours to look around and talk to people, and it's tricky because my face is pretty well known and I suck at disguise." He paused, frowning for a moment, then shook the momentary thought away.

On the topic of going bowling with our cousin, are Kurosawa-Kurosawa couples known to have a greater chance of producing Sharingan babies than couples with only one Kurosawa? If so, the logical conclusion is that Kurosawa-Uchiha couples would have an even greater chance to produce Sharingan babies.

Operation Uchiha Harem is a go.

E: but seriously, it sounds like we need to swing more than one vote to be safe. Uchiha is both solidly Hyuga (according to Naruto) and eminently swingable (with the promise of having Hazo to help rebuild the clan population).

Naruto: man my Physique dropped down to zero from all the time I spent in a coma.

Hazou: Here's a jutsu that passively raises your Physique in proportion to your XP rate.

Naruto: is the swolest he's ever been in approximately three seconds.

Naruto either has poor deceit, so bad he got caught by the Team and beaten consistently by Hazo, or very high one. Personality says former, Jiraiya says latter.

I think Naruto will be good for Keiko; he's not as whipped as the boys and more bubbly than Akane, imagine that.

Getting stressed about Akane. I just want to see her live, or die, and deal with that rather than have it hanging over our head. Will vote for plan with Akane as priority.

[X] Action Plan: Let's Go Bowling
  • Catch up on Mari's activities:
    • Update her with information from Naruto.
    • Inform her we are still Acting Clan Head.
    • Request a situational assessment:
      • Who should we back for Hokage (likely Chouza/Asuma) and how should we go about this?
      • How should we best sabotage Hiashi?
    • Bring her with us to acquire the Snake scroll using what Jiraiya left us.
      • Use Orochimaru's pardon, Jiraiya's will, and all the socials.
    • Issue her further orders to further our current objectives.
  • Make contact with Sasuke:
    • Review history on Kurosawa Sharingan, focusing on following:
      • Rate of Sharingan occurrence
      • Rate of Sharingan transmission (do Sharingan Kurosawa have Sharingan babies?)
      • General power of Kurosawa Sharingan (limited to level 1/2?)
      • Sharingan activation conditions (extreme stress like Uchiha Sharingan?)
    • Meet Uchiha Sasuke.
      • Make introductions:
        • Who we are, Jiraiya's will, etc.
      • Evaluate Sasuke's personality and general objectives.
        • Bring up our role in the defeat of Akatsuki (including Itachi) if useful.
      • If Sasuke seems amenable, attempt to obtain his support in Hokage vote for our desired candidate (likely Chouza/Asuma).
        • Offer information on Kurosawa Sharingan and marriage alliance if necessary.
        • Offer Snake scroll if obtained and necessary.
  • Make contact with potential adoptees:
    • Tenten:
      • Keiko meets with her to discuss their relationship WRT her marriage to Shikamaru. Leave this up to her.
    • Akane:
      • Hazo and Noburi meet with her to update her on current events and discuss her goals for the future.

"Sufficiently good" is probably "Way better than Jiraiya ever was." in this context. Even when we went up to him with the Reverse Summon Naruto Rescue Plan, he pretty much just shrugged and went "Summoning scrolls be mysterious yo, it might not work that way."
Hey, there's a thought - does the name on a summoning scroll fade out when the summoner dies in this universe? And do we have any of Orochimaru's blood, anywhere in Leaf?

Sorry, been distracted recently (family personal life stuff, designing a final exam by committee[BY THE WAY FOLKS: if you think getting plans passed in thread is tough, you should see the epic level arguments that were had in that email chain. Politicking, compromises and arguing, Oh My!] office hours during said finals week, grading 150ish finals, annoying social responsibilities etc).

I can probably get those done later tonight :p

Lets get fliers of his litttle speech plastered all around the slums or something, maybe?

Would that actually swing opinion, though? Medieval peasants are not known for being particularly socially progressive, and probably come down on SUA's side on general principles re: foreigners, Jinchuuriki, and the like. Assuming they can read the flyers in the first place.

Clanless ninja are still a decent part of the population IIRC.

Its one more obstacle he might have to deal with.

[X] Action Plan: Speaking of Unity

Word count: 399
  • Adoption:
    • If others agree, immediately make offers, contingent on Naruto's future approval, to:
      • Akane (meet her together).
      • Tenten (send only Keiko).
    • Discuss Lee:
      • He's talented, and adrift after Gai's death.
      • His personality could be mitigated to minimize friction (soundproofing, house rules...).
    • Maybe consider inter-village adoption (Doigama, Kato...)?
  • Family matters:
    • Mari:
      • Update her.
      • What's she been doing lately?
    • Kagome:
      • Give him Jiraiya's sealing notes (beforehand: remove evidence of your OPSEC blunder).
      • Is he willing to teach adoptees sealling?
    • Noburi: Schedule an appointment with Kabuto to check bloodline interactions with SC/Summoning.
      • Consider investigating him on adoption.
      • Yes, the Toad Scroll should be Noburi's.
    • Keiko:
      • Possible solutions for Skytower-deal concerns:
        • Selling seals using Toad intermediaries.
        • Transfer the Scroll's direct ownership to the Gouketsu.
      • Offer Pangolins a list of seals (OPSEC-sanitized!), for:
        • Valuables.
        • Jutsu, especially conquered nations' (Condors' Space-Time Ninjutsu).
        • Improved treatment of conquered nations.
      • Where are the Hyena/Leopard scrolls?
      • Do you want Ami to attend the wedding? If yes, Hazou offers to:
        • Meet with Shikamaru (urgent).
          • Be sympathetic, but skip condolences.
          • (Concerned tone) Did you ensure Ami can attend Keiko's wedding? She'll be displeased if you didn't.
          • Suggest postponing just the ceremony to give her time.
          • We'll take care of the rest...for twelve hours.
        • Send Ami an encrypted message (NB: Ask clan's assistance):
          • Update her on the wedding.
          • She could escort merchants (the ones we befriended?) to Leaf with friends, and scout ahead.
          • She totally owes us another favor.
  • Gather information on Akatsuki:
    • Visit the Tower, grab their profiles.
    • Kagome: Summarize their book.
  • The Snake Scroll.
    • Learn Snake culture/predispositions from Summons and Jiraiya's notes.
    • Message Snakes via Pangolins.
      • Send Jiraiya's letter to Orochimaru. (He could've survived + faked his death.)
      • Ask whether Orochimaru left them his will. Jiraiya wrote him a pardon and we'd want to carry out his wishes.
    • Idea for Keiko: A Pangolin-Snake-Toad alliance conditional on Snakes backing a Gouketsu Summoner.
      • Would Pangolins/Toads be amenable? Preexisting allies and our seals would make the alliance unstoppable.
      • Bonus: Snake/Toad inroads give us additional avenues to pressure Pangolins into changing conquered clans' treatment.
    • Ask Keiko/Mari the (probably low) feasibility of demanding and taking the Snake Scroll from the Tower. Are they willing to accompany us?
      • Reasoning: We're the Godaime's clan; represent a significant fraction of Leaf's military strength; demanding from ANBU personally loyal to Jiraiya.
      • Follow-up: Publicly establish Hazou and Noburi as new Summoners, with summons' acknowledgment.
Adhoc vote count started by faflec on May 12, 2019 at 6:40 PM, finished with 38 posts and 10 votes.

Point of information: according to the rules, you can't purchase the summoning stunt until you've signed a contract.

This means that Hazou can sign the scroll right now and learn how to summon later.

If the Trump campaign taught me anything, it's that if you spend your efforts getting everyone talking about how bad a candidate is... they're still getting more publicity.

Also, the clanless ninja are frankly irrelevant to this vote, so pissing them off is unlikely to hinder him in a significant fashion any time soon. It would come down to how the ninja in clans feel about it, and the default response to being told you're important and special is generally positive.

Sure, I'll concede that its likely not going to be anywhere near the top of our playbook, but its a move in the playbook.

After we have like 3 dozen ways to fuck up Hiashi's day we can get rid of the crappier ones.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail

According to the timeline, we talked to Tsunade on January 2nd, and then talked to Naruto the next day.

I thought immediately after Mari left, we talked to Tsunade.

If the timeline is accurate, can we backfill the two days with activities?

[] Action plan: Stealing the Snake

A vote for Snek Scroll is a vote for Snek Uncle (RIP in tortellini snek uncle :( )
