It may be worth remembering that Perfect Hydration is a technique designed specifically to work with the Vampiric Dew. In other words, it is a Wakahisa clan secret, not something you can find in a Leaf library.

Who's to say they want to uproot their entire lives and move somewhere for someone they knew when they were 4 years old? The only benefit is that they might be slightly safer in Leaf, but there could be other people they can't/won't leave behind

If it's any consolation, I don't fucking get it, either. It's not fun, it's not cute. It's actively cruel to Kei and Snowflake, expressing a severe lack of compassion regarding their feelings about Hazou. Further, it actively rubs Mari's entanglement with Ami in Kei's face without any degree of subtlety or empathy.

Also, Hazou should be painfully oblivious to most of these anyways. It doesn't make sense unless the Out is pouring shipping information into his head, which may result in him being Caldera'd...

And we can't even say it's a cold callousness born out of sacrificing Kei and Snowflake's feelings upon the alter of utility. Because there's no grand purpose, no endgoal. Why are we doing this? Why are we including the chart, unedited, as a gift? For the lulz. If it were to tease Kei, there'd be a movement to cut out the Mari and Hazou parts. But there's not. The chart is only amusing from a player's meta-perspective, and becomes as cold and cruel as the Heartbreaker when introduced into the narrative.

While our selfish incentive will be to not get roped into 3-6 months of Summoning Training, if doing so helps the village, then we should probably do so. If our injury situation changes, I assume that it's fine if the Summoning teacher changes mid-teaching.

On the other hand, if Hazou is most useful scribing seals and making crazy plans, then Asuma will probably tell us that. He already said that he values our ability to come up with good ideas:

I understand wanting to "Be Useful," but actually enunciating the reason why we would be the right choice goes beyond that. I highly reccomend you simply switch to:
  • Kagome is currenly reviewing Summoner Training materials
    • When can official training begin?
    • Can Noburi or I help?
This way, we're still clearly willing to handle the training if and only if that is what Asuma already decided. Having it as written runs the risk of convincing him that we're a better canidate than someone else he had already decided on, which we absolutely do not want to happen. Additionally, between playing coy with "we don't know it's going to be Kagome" and actively trying to convince him to assign the work to us, this segment comes off more like we're trying to seem like we're being helpful than like we're actually being helpful.


@faflec, I changed my wording from "Can we help?" to "Can Noburi or I help?" You're right that he's probably a better canidate for this than we are.

I see no problem with punting the code line to a later update. The OPSEC training, on the other hand, definitely needs to happen now. A large portion of this thread is already willing to include them in our TOP SECRET projects and secrets like Sage Mode despite them not having any clan OPSEC training. That is, in my opinion, a terrible idea and a disaster waiting to happen. Fortuantely, we passed the vote to exclude them by a small margin, but it was a scarily close thing for how bad it could have been. We should really get them trained as fast as possible.

Putting aside the TOP SECRET projects, we can't even teach them the Pangolin jutsu until they're trained in proper OPSEC. Kei spelled out in explicit detail what would happen to her if those jutsu leaked when we brought the Naruto Ghost Scales idea up. Those jutsu would go a long way towards helping them surivive the war and making them feel included and we have to hold them back until they get OPSEC training.

And if none of that convinced you, consider this; Mari unequivically has the best OPSEC skills and the most experience of all the Gōketsu. She is, without question, the ideal person to teach them. She's also about to be deployed to the front lines by Asuma. We might be able to convince him to give her a week of recuperation first, but that's not a sure thing at all. We should definitely have them start OPSEC training before she leaves, which means it really needs to happen this update.

Hm...in a shoebox somewhere I probably still have a lovely collection of rejection letters from Asimov's, so let's steal their rates. [goes and checks their rates] Nope, that's too high for something that isn't being professionally published.

Let's say 1 cent per word up to 5000 words and 5 cents per word thereafter. (EDIT: In case it's unclear, that is up to the maximum you specify and anything I do beyond that is free.)

Let me know the subject, desired ending (if you have one), and the maximum length and we're good to go.

In my defense the whole point of the joke was that it was a terrible idea and odviously metagaming, i never expected it to get more votes.
 
Does anyone have any feedback on the revamped version of the plan? It's not wordcount optimized yet because I won't be proposing it until we have healed from our Severe Consequences.

I am a little unsure how detailed I can or should be on how to research 3D sealing. On the one hand, saying "theorize how to do 3D seals" is pretty useless and put's a lot of the work on y'all, but on the other sealing is pure technobabble and is thus too abstracted for me to outline any actual experiments. I tried to strike a middle ground here by leaving most of specifics up to Hazōpilot while still suggesting useful avenues of exploration and resources that might be helpful. Let me know if things need to be less (or, in theory, more) specific.

[ ] Future Plan: Investigating the Great Seal

Acquiring More Information
  • Request permission from Asuma to look for DRAGONWAR-related information in Sand
    • Having him pressure the Kazekage into assisting would be enormously helpful.
    • Probe Sand Sealmasters for information on 3D Sealing and other esoteric sealing disiplines
    • Probe loremasters (including at least one from the Yodomi) for information on:
      • The Sage and his companions
      • The Dragons and other powerful entities sealed by the Sage
  • Have Noburi ask the Toads about Dragons and the Sage's companions
  • Have Kagome and Kei investigate how Isan developed an entire sealing tradition from studying a single seal.
    • Do you have any insights how we should reverse-engineer 3D sealing from just the Great Seal?
    • Are there any major weaknesses in Isanese sealing that come from this? How might we avoid similar problems with our 3D sealing?
  • Ask Isolde how he originally defeated the Dragons

  • Probe Mist Sealmasters and loremasters (including Tama)
  • With Asuma's permission, talk to Aunt Ren and a Kurosawa Sealmaster about the Great Seal and the Dragons.
    • Explain how the Iron Nerve recorded details about the z-dimension.
    • Ask about Iron Nerve (worth a shot)
      • Is everything that gets recorded important?
      • How does it know what to record?
      • How can it record aspects about the Great Seal that I never saw?
      • Is there anything else I should know that would help me prevent the imminent destruction of Seventh and then Human Path?
Researching 3D Sealing
  • Research how the build material affects 3D seals
    • Try to identify the Great Seal's material.
      • Consult with expert metallurgists and geologists
    • Research what materials are capable of conducting chakra
      • Ask Asuma for a full briefing on what the Tower knows about chakra metal
    • Try making basic 2D seals with a chakra conductor that is not ink-based.
      • Investigate whether this has been done before
      • Attempt to recreate a 2D seal using earthshaping. Experiment with the shape of the "channel" (cylindrical, flat plane, etc.).
  • Research how adding a third dimension affects sealing
    • After theorizing from knowledge of 2D seals, try making theory from working backwards from the Great Seal
      • Draw on insights from Leaf Sealmasters and Iron Nerve
      • Use Isanese insights
    • Use Earthshaping to try creating extremely basic 3D seals
    • Focus experimentation on learning about 3D Sealing itself (leave investigating the mechanics of the Great Seal for later)

If we attempt to make a Golem I'd like for Hazou to Earthshape: Communicate with the core while it is created.
