Can't argue with results, my friend
To clarify, you would add a line not just asking her to veto our plan if it's stupid, but also asking for additional insight on how to make it better/whether it is even a problem? I don't know how I could reasonably disagree with that.I'd kind of like slightly greater emphasis on getting Mari's impressions of what's going on between them, and whether bringing this up to her is a good idea at all. On the other hand, Kei does think well of us, but... she may be inclined to think us biased in favor of Akane. Which we are, to be fair.![]()
I do think there are a number of advantages to being in a town/city, but the big downside to me is that we can't research PMYF unless we're out in the wilderness.I updated my plan. It looks like I messed up the indents and the talk to Keiko about Akane section, but it still seems readable. It's probably too late for people to vote for this even if they do prefer it, but I'd still appreciate any thoughts.
E: One final nitpick would be that I think including the "this depends on Hazou knowing what's up wrt/ Kei and Akane" disclaimer was reasonable, and that it may be good to be explicit about the offer of a list being meant as a friendly jest

I wonder how much XP singlehandedly killing Yagura would get us.OMAKE: SPEEDRUNNING STRATS
"Hazou..." Noburi started, then trailed off.
"Uh. Yeah?"
"This may be a silly question, but..."
"Go on."
"Why are you running against a wall at ninja speed, with your head pressing against it? That looks really painful, and as the group medic I feel obliged to inform you that you're probably giving yourself brain-damage."
And then in a much quieter voice:
"Although that would explain a lot."
"Um. Can this wait? I'm up to seventeen QPU's East and I really need to get it up to eighteen before I ca- Here we go!"
And then Hazou vanished.
Noburi took off his barrel and squinted at it.
"I hereby precommit to never letting my barrel break. Because if it does I will have to make a new one and clearly working with seals makes people crazy and apparently the universe is all too happy to humour crazy people."

Yagura's last thoughts were filled with burning rage and roughly translated from the split second of shock and semi-formed concepts as "A traitor has learned Hiraishin!".
[x] Report Plan: Promises to Keep
If we meet up with Jiraiya before/instead of obfuscating the location we were in when we got the sealing scroll, then our goal is to keep our promise to Takahashi by not actually telling Jiraiya about the village, while telling him enough of what's going on that he knows that if he does decide to investigate, he should not actually make contact with anyone. All while not lying to him about anything.
If we meet up with his agent(s) instead of Jiraiya, they don't need any details on anything. We should just report that we're going to be here for a few weeks, then take a look at where to go in the Elemental Nations after that. That way if Jiraiya decides its worth his time to come meet with us, he knows where to find us.
Either way, get gossip about the current state of affairs in the Elemental Nations. If it's Jiraiya, we can explicitly ask about Iron. Anyone else might not already know that we were involved in shenanigans up there recently, so just stick with generic gossip in that case.
- Report to Jiraiya in person:
- We got the Pangolin contract.
- We've promised not to talk about how. Breaking that promise or even the appearance that it has been broken would be a poor repayment to our promisee.
- If Jiraiya asks, we can promise him truthfully that we are confident nothing we're not telling him will be a threat to the Leaf.
- Also, not related to the contract, but we were in Rain and detected chakra in the rain there.
- Report to an agent of Jiraiya's:
- Tell them we'll be here for a few weeks, then we're going to move on.
- If they ask us explicitly about the summoning contract, then Jiraiya trusts them enough to mention it at all, so tell them yes we have it. Not what it is, though.
- Mention the magic rain in Rain.
@Sleeps Furiously
I approve of most of your Report Plan, but there are a few things I would like added before I vote for it.
1) Super minor, but maybe "swore" is a better word for it than "promised". It doesn't automatically imply that there was someone we made a promise to, just that an oath was made, and that could theoretically be taken on our own. Also, mention that this may change in the future.
2) I would like to promise Jiraiya before he makes any push that we are very confident that it won't bring harm to Konoha or anyone else in the meantime.
3) Add that him forcing us to tell him will not only require all of us to break an oath, but it will carry additional negative consequences independent of our own actions (so it's not like we'll carry out a vendetta or anything). These consequences might end up being major, particularly in terms of opportunity cost.

I haven't jumped on this, since most people seem to be more interested in the telling about the bodies plan, but I have now gotten it updated. I still left out telling Jiraiya about the dead Leaf nin. Mari, of course, makes the final decision on these things, but this is the plan where Hazou's suggestion is not to say anything about them.Hey, will you look at my suggested changes?
And maybe make a note for Inoue to be in charge of what to tell Jiraiya about the dead Leaf nin.

I am a bit worried...no. I am significantly worried that our experiments would result in people, specifically ninjas, noticing our hot air balloon and investigating it. It's much easier to notice an out-of place object in the sky than on the ground due to the lack of cover/out-of-placeness. If we could find a mountain range able to cover our experiments I'd be all for it, but until then we're limited to small-scale experiments which don't necessarily transition to our-world's hot air balloons.I'd like for our next plan (though we aren't there yet) to cover doing some basic experimentation with using its heat to generate propulsion with a miniature model of a hot air balloon, just so Akane doesn't think we've forgotten about that.
I think you're mistaking what I mean. I meant smallscale experimentation. Like the kind of stuff you could do in a building with a piece of cloth an arm's distance in length.I am a bit worried...no. If nothing else, I'm sure there's some sealing shenanigans we can pull to keep the air inside the balloon. The hardest part would be finding a cloth of light enough weight and a manufacturing process to reduce the amount of stitches to reduce the loss of trapped air. At present, I don't think the technological level of the Elemental nations are ready to build hot air balloons. We could how ever build a lot of smaller paper balloons, heat the air within them and have them float up into the air without having to have a candle within them. If we get skilled enough we could switch with the balloons if we are skilled enough with our substitution. Just have figure out a way of increasing the mass of the balloons while still lifting into the air and enough to switch with our bodies.
Late response, but wifi has been down.Infiltrating Mist would be insanely hard and would be exponentially harder to reach the highest office in the country without once being discovered.
