My mid to long term goals
  • Grab all 4 scrolls
  • Take control of a yakuza factions
  • Become clan heir of the Kurosawa
  • Enact the accords

My short term goals:

  • Survive the next three days
  • Avoid pissing Asuma off too much
  • Oops now he hates us too that sucks.

"I agree," I said. "But I'm talking about players. Players get dragged into isekais all the time."

"Ah," Earl nodded with perfect understanding. "Is that a problem, though? If they turn up and challenge us, that just means an opportunity for punching. And I wouldn't mind some nice punching to take my mind off losing the best thing that ever happened to me."

"Sure," I said, "But think about it. What if they have powers like ours? I don't want to fight Flufflec with his total omniscience, which is inevitably what he'd get, never mind Babayaga or MadArtist, who—"

Muer'ci? Is that you?

Merci? Is that you?

Long term goals:

1. Explore a new continent!
2. Develop industries and expertise!
3. Make sure that we can actually controll what we "conquered".
  • I am allergic to anything that requires us to rule over extra people, extra territory, extra bureaucracy, and extra organizations.
  • Personal power gain or upskilling the folks that work for us is more of my thing. Depth over width.
4. Do the uplift thing.

He finally revealed that he's from Cloud, the ninja village for the Land of Lightning.

-and yet, he's always struggling when he says it. Almost as if it were some sort of deeply conditioned response...

Nah. The worst liar in the world being that way because he was Skinner-boxed from childhood to be unable to leak one single immensely important secret would be some sort of dramatic narrative twist.

My goals are:
  • (short-term: <3 months) Start up SC FOOM.
    • Sub-goals: Get Shadow Clones for the rest of the clan. Steal Wakahisa's koi. Build a basement. Release disinformation. Conduct bottom-up Uplift (low-taxes experimental village, IQ testing).
  • (short-term: <3 months) Ameliorate the problem of enpersoned S-rank threats.
    • Sub-goal: Develop user-excluding implosion seals. Set up a dead-man's switch. Put "essie" into widespread circulation.
  • (middle-term: <2 years) Solve the problem of Ami.
  • (middle-term: <2 years) Get an upper hand over the Nara. Get an associate in at least one other clan of the Five.
  • (long-term: >5 years) Get at the world's secrets, ripping it apart or uplifting it in the process, whichever is more convenient.

No, I totally believe that he was born and spent some part of his childhood in Cloud. Where was the "school" that took him afterwards is an entirely different matter.

Are you looking to understand her more or to strip her of her resources and take over her organizations?
Yes. Whatever makes it so she isn't a Damocles' Sword hanging over our heads. If we could get credible information about her goals and they turn out agreeable, or if we could change them to be agreeable, that'll suffice. If her motives aren't agreeable, or too difficult to get at, constraining her ability to affect the world would be the way to go, by scheming or by murder.

The solutions from the second set seem palpably more feasible in that timeframe, at the moment.

Ami has to disappear.

It is the only way we can get Keiko to unironically call Hazou ❤Onii-chan❤. Get rid off the competition and all that.

Probably the best thing we could do to limit Ami is try to reduced Utakata's loyalty to her and her faction. Without an essie backing her she is much more vulnerable to attacks to limit her political and social power bases.

Give me a good reason as to why would I want to spend time fighting Ami in any politically significant way? Otherwise, I will vote no.
