Actually you know what I'll make my own.

[X] Action Plan: Beyond Our Pay Grade
  • Grab Keiko ASAP for plan-optimization. This isn't playing around with politics, this is Kagome's life on a mission.
    • Meet wherever's convenient for her if she's not willing to traipse out to the Goketsu camp. Maximum OPSEC on discussions here.
  • Discuss with her and whomever of Uplift is available and appropriate (don't break OPSEC unless it is, but Keiko and Mari and Kagome should probably be in on the discussion at the least) the following:
  • Plan 1: Drop explosives from above, attached to rocks or clones to taste
    • Pros: Nearly guaranteed to work. Very fast results, little recon needed. KISS.
Cons: Guarantees that people know someone didn't want that bridge there. It's obvious who. Still, no evidence.
  • Plan 2: Aburame-bug bound delivery of explosive munitions (pre-filled implosion seals that they can bite through to boom it.)
    • Pros: Nearly guaranteed to work; perhaps better results than above. Significantly less likely to be obvious Konoha was involved, especially in combination with plan snippets. Can transition into the above if bug delivery is spotted.
Cons: Dependent on Aburame capacities and Kagome going along with it; requires more trust.
  • Plan 3: Personal delivery of explosive munitions/personal excavation of rock
    • Pros: Very effective at making sure there's not going to be a bridge there at any point in the future. Can use Pangolin (with Keiko's permission, as part of the mission, keeping her supplied with chakra for the duration) or Earth Clones.
    • Cons: Easy to spot by sensory techniques, higher risk to personnel than other plans.
  • Plan snippets (may be added to any of the above to taste):
    • Drive chakra beasts into the ravine to take the fall for the destruction.
    • Use technique or seal to create earthquakes either light or heavy, to stop sensory techniques or destroy the bridge.
    • All plans best done in black of night.
  • Requisitions:
    • Flash seal or technique (for egress)
    • Earthquake seal or technique
    • Permission for skywalkers
    • Chakra Beast corpses/locations to plant at site
  • Team Suggestion:
    • Akane, Kagome, Stealth Spec Aburame (in addition to Snake and Hawk)
  • Present the above to Asuma: allow him to decide which to use.
No telescope?!

Stupid question, but have we considered just asking Grass not to make the deal?

Like, they know that the deal on the table is a permanent trade for what is officially a temporary lease, Leaf has excellent reputation with regards to respecting small neighbors (River), Leaf is the only Great Power to officially ally with not one but two other Great Powers in the history of ever, plus it recently has oodles and oodles more arable land than it can practically exploit than ever before.

What if we suggested just... giving them the same deal as Rock is offering, but better in every way? No need to Kagome any bridges at all?

Oh dear Zeus and Hades, I don't know who I even am anymore...

We'll need a very fast diplomat that talk very fast.

A Thought Occurs:

The Aburame are very much attached to their symbiotic, quasi-sapient insectoid partners. If we blow up a few in the process of getting rid of the bridge, we may need to consider what would be just and adequate compensation. Their bugs are like the Inuzuka's canines. We might want to reconsider any plan that has us asking the Aburame to send their bugs on a suicide mission. Remember, their bugs are more like Ender's Game Formics --along with some sort of mental/command link to their hives --rather than just a well-trained ant colony.

Mari made peace with the Inuzuka by honoring the death of their symbiotic, quasi-sapient partners. Probably not the best idea to ask the Aburame to willingly kill of their partners. As rational as the Aburame clan might be, it'd still be a very, very dickish thing to do that would likely serve to taint our clan's reputation among the established ninja clans.

And while this miiiight be able to be handwaved under "Mari can handle it," we're trying to give our resident PR rep some much needed R&R, yeah? To keep her relatively sane and level headed? To help her stitch herself back together?

...

Shit. @Cariyaga Maybe just putting this out there as a possible Con should be enough for others in the clan (not necessarily Mari) to chime in with their thoughts.

Rock 'owns' this land already; giving it to Grass would mean breaking the agreement with Rock and may lead to them declaring war.

Guys, please stop trying to come up with a way around the mission. I guarantee you Asuma has better understanding of the politics at play than we do.

I meant trying to rent more of Leaf's land. Not the land Leaf is already renting out. Clarified in the plan

We should also ask if the mission is to be achieved at all costs (ex: even if we must kill Grass and Rock ninja and get captured), and if not when we should abandon the mission

I am not trying to. I am focusing on the strategic geopolitical goal that he wanted accomplished. That means looking at all the options rather just focusing on executing the mission objective.

Edit:

I just figured out an intermediate idea on the road to skyslider: Parachutes.

Why?

Previously, I was thinking of parachutes as only safety device. I came to realize that they save on skywalker logistics.

If you climb up into the sky, you must also come down. By using the parachute, you save skywalker usage on the coming down portion.

[X] Action Plan: Beyond Our Pay Grade

@Cariyaga ,
The Motoyoshi would animate the rubble and make it realign itself into an approximation of walls

Maybe add some small thing:
  • Ask if a Motoyoshi ninja would be useful to deliver explosives stealthily
Assuming they can move stuff around at longer distances. Perhaps that would be valuable in a Aburame+Motoyoshi combination.

Dropping a big rock should in theory just be a matter of some geometric calculations which shouldn't be that hard.

It's unfortunate MEW generated in the air only lasts 30 seconds or so. If it lasted longer we could simply have Hazou (with Noburi assistance) spend his Chakra making a large enough block to take out a large portion of the canyon, even if we miss.

And that ninja don't know what Tungsten is. Ah the damage you could do with a simple rod.

Zoom Seal:

This seal applies an upgraded version (which does not rely on grinding forces) of the Macerator V2's velocity effect (along the inwards pointing normal vector to the seal's front side) to the object its placed on once activated. The object travels at [ Sealmaster's Effective Sealing] meters per second, for about three seconds.

Stunt[20 XP]: Hey There, Let's Go Bowling!

Roll Taijutsu (if in combat) or Deceit (out of combat, if one has Sleight of Hand) versus an appropriate defending stat to place a Zoom seal on the body of a target, and activate it. This costs a supplemental and a standard action, at least (if one has a seal palmed already).

If successful, the target goes flying off into the distance or careening towards a stationary object or a valid secondary target.

If there is a valid secondary target (such as a ninja, chakra beast, or summon animal), have them roll an appropriate stat(s) vs the Zoom seal's velocity as a TN. Should they fail, the two collide, dealing floor( [Velocity]/10 ) stress.

*is sad we aren't researching cool and clever ways to punch the daylights out of people*

:(
