"Ooh, is that breakfast?" Mori asked, sweeping up Hazō's spoon and taking a mouthful of his porridge. "Mmm, bittersweet."

Sage preserve us.

"I don't need proper manners," Mori said off-handedly. "I'm family. I'm Keiko's sister. You two are Keiko's brothers. That makes me your big sister by the transitive property. If anything, you're the ones who should have invited me. What happened to our long-awaited family reunion?"

She is Noburi's big EDIT: sister, but she is Kagome's little sister.

She raised her middle finger. "As soon as the election's over, no matter who wins, I need you to call for a council vote on a topic of my choice, and I need you to lose."

...This is a very dangerous idea. It is something we will be willing to agree to once we know it... but who knows how thoroughly she will stack the deck to get to that point?

Mori nodded. "A seduction specialist acts independently," she said coolly, "because any form of exposure, any form of interference, results in certain death. To manipulate someone whose initial position is that of suspicion, and who of necessity possesses greater knowledge and power within the given environment, it is essential to maintain a perfect balance of thought, feeling, and action. External influence on any of those three elements, however well-intentioned, risks catastrophe.

Yeah. Anyone who wants a plan to go off correctly needs us far, far away.

"I'm staying with her," Kagome-sensei growled. "Not letting the likes of her out of my sight for a second."

Kagome. The only sane man.

"Seriously, Mari?" Noburi demanded. "Did you actually just go and say that out loud? What, did you decide taking a bath in fresh blood and then diving headfirst into the ocean while shouting blasphemies against the Hoshigaki ancestors would be playing it too safe?"

Do not taunt Murphy.

"We have failed in our duty to protect you. In return for your labour, we, the clans, are responsible for the safety and well-being of our subjects. Yet we have allowed so many of you to suffer and die because of a clan ninja's failure."

Ami, why are you fomenting revolution?

Today, as never before, I am proud to be an ally of the Gōketsu!"

AMI, WHY ARE YOU FOMENTING REVOLUTIONS AND BLAMING US?

Plan Cache (remember to check previous plans for unimplemented sections):
Plan Cache:
  • Discuss with the family:
    • Could inter-village adoption (Doigama, Kato...) be plausible?
  • Info-gathering:
    • Ask Kagome to summarize Akatsuki's book.
    • Investigate Leaf Yakuza (indirectly and non-confrontationally)
      • Task for Mari?
  • Politicking:
    • Schedule a wake to mourn Leaf's fallen heroes.
    • Inform Naruto about the vote.
    • Designate a Second.
      • Mari? Kagome?
  • Snakes:
    • Hazou: Learn their culture/predispositions from Summons and Jiraiya's notes.
    • Keiko: Message them via Pangolins.
      • Send Jiraiya's letter to Orochimaru along (in case he's alive).
      • Did Orochimaru leave them his will? Jiraiya wrote him a pardon, we'd want to carry out his wishes.

Rules of the Plan Cache:
  1. Get Support. The Plan Cache is for ideas that already have support of a sizeable chunk of the playerbase, not for ideas that someone wants to advocate later. For a benchmark, your idea should have enough support to be in one of the major plans of a cycle if there was room in the plan.
  2. Short-term. The Plan Cache is for ideas that we intend to implement in the next few updates, or more loosely within the same rough story arc. If you have an idea beyond that temporal scope, I have another post storing those ideas so ask me to put it there instead of cluttering up our short-term storage.
Sometimes when we're making a plan we have a good idea that's just outside the temporal scope of the update, but we don't want to cut it from the plan because we might forget by the next cycle. This adds unnecessary words that could have been spent fleshing out the rest of the plan, and may outright cost XP in the worst cases.

This plan cache will hold these subsections so they don't fall into the void between planning cycles. Just ping me with the subsection and, unless it's wildly unreasonable, I'll edit it into the post. I'll keep them there for a while until they either make it into a winning plan, fall out of favour, or the context significantly changes. Depending on circumstances, they might end up in my Side Project Cache, or they might be dropped, and I'll make sure to be transparent about what I'm doing.

I'll do my best to quote this post after every update, so that planmakers can get an easy reminder about what we never quite got to last cycle.
Also, current schedule:
Today (Jan 8) Tomorrow (Jan 9) Jan 10 Jan 11
Morning Ami/Civilians Ino Shino
Afternoon   Chouza Minami Minori
Evening Snake/Nakano Asuma Keiko
I recommend we focus this plan on the rest of today, including the free afternoon slot and the doubled up evening slot.

Great update Velorien!

Ami makes a good point. At some point we should check with Tsunade in person and confirm that we have her vote. Likely after all the initial batch of meetings (allies plans may shift things) but I think she wanted us to check back in after the hospital visit.

Can we delegate Akane and Noburi to helping the citizens as their major immediate project? Tsunade's trainee and the mednin will already be around and better able to work with outside help (and having the two friendly clan members, one of whom is the daughter of the civilian carpenter who helped set things up, shouldn't hurt).

This person is 9 pounds of nonsense in a five pound sack. There is no way we are pledging to not interfere as she sabotages our village, or to throw a vote we don't know the details of.

Like, she emits words the way squids emit ink, but this is a bridge too far. Us using a favor turned into us doing 2 favors?

Surely the spell will break

A curiosity, am i the only one that wants an actual discussion with her(Once this whole Hat thing is over)? Not "Hivemind tries to maximize Ami favor/power/Ect", just an honest to god conversation about her with, well, her? Saying "Fuck no" to her attempts to ignore dialogue?

I mean...Gai.

But as a serious answer, being a Jonin narratively does actually seem to align with the FATE mechanics of buying Stunts with Refresh - you're more and more locked in to a certain way of acting.

The way I see it is that chakra enhances and empowers attributes that are core to you. It makes you more of what you already are. On the flip side, this will cause you to gain some really sharply outlined personality traits: to me all the Jonin seem like some standard personas --Gai was the really crazy high energy fitness athlete, Hana is hardworking mama bear, Zabuza has the mercenary for hire schtick, and Ami is the memey shitposting game fanatic-- but with all of that taken up to 11.

Regardless...We'll have to test/keep an eye out on whether this is a CR thing that scales as you get more chakra. Could be nasty to have Hazou be Morezou and not prep for it, since that sort of thing is going to alter your judgement a lot.

I would love it, but it isn't going to happen. Ami's entire thing is to never be pinned down, and Jounin are incapable of breaking out of their rut.

As with the original Ami date, I would love to write that, but have no idea how you could manage to make it happen.
