We need to get him to improve his social skills. He still rolled sub-100 for Diplomacy and gave away the other end of Akane's name. Get the feeling if he were less trigger-happy he'd be fine.

On the bright side, Kouta actually was stupid enough to do this on his own, without encouragement from anti-US elders. Unless the goal of this was to discredit Gasai...

I'm not sure what we can do to socialize him any more than we already are...

I haven't even read the update. And I'm rolling on the floor laughing my ass off. He managed to roll this on at least two D100s is damn impressive.
Do dice roll according to whats most in character?

Kagome is notorious for critically failing diplomacy rolls. I mean, the first time we spoke with him, he rolled a 1.

Anyone have any ideas what to do next? I mean, we agreed to not to stick our noses into village politics so that's out. Do we just sit on our hands till someone tries to do something evil to us...again?

Hunt local equivalent of chakra voles? If we abide by Takahashi's rules, our options are kinda limited...
There is research to be done, finishing storage seals at least should be okay. Maybe Noburi can get friendship levels high enough that medics here agree to share knowledge so he can level up his Med skill (that last roll was really close)
But I'm not sure how we can actively earn XP here, so it looks like we're going back to low gains or a timeskip kind of update.

P. sure he has 1 die in Dip. He rolled a 1(one) last time it came up. Unless hanging out with us improved it? That's a nice though :3

Sorry, I have that effect on dice. I played a guest villain in a few TRPGs and my rolls work something like how a villain would be in a tv show. The start of the session I will be rolling really well, then as the time goes on and we shift into the end phase of the session all my rolls turn to really bad for me.

Or do people still want to run away? It's not like much has changed in that department since the last time we had a vote?
Kouta mess was diffused and Mari vetted Takahashi, so I'm tentatively fine with staying a bit longer. Still expecting some kind of trouble, but I recognise that would still be true even if we did up and leave.

I don't know if this is a good time to bring it up, but how would y'all feel about giving Hazou 2-3 more dice in Wep?
No plans to turn him into a sniper but it should help with tag delivery against mobs, untill we can place seals by touch. Also good for misdirection, what with making enemies think we're RDD. We can do (sorta) like the Jounin Mari fought in the Iron forest (without the dieing part. Hopefully.)
And cheap, comparatively.

With our taijutsu as high as it is, it might be worth asking Kagome how he stuck that explosive seal to us a while ago; he's clearly good at that if he could double team Hazou and Akane.

Every time he slapped a tag on someone it was done from stealth (complete with stealth rolls) so I'm not sure how Taijutsu factors in?
But yes, asking him how he makes the tags *stay* is a good idea. Should add it to the list of questions to ask Kagome during downtime.

Though by "placing seals with touch" I meant without paper, like Minato could slap Hiraishin mark on whatever. Which is impossible according to Kagome but we know better :V

As to how THAT could work... It'd probably require an immense amount of research, and imprinting your chakra strictly in the shape of the seal. Would require large amounts of chakra control, too...

e: If we really want to do that, I'd suggest getting up to at least Sealing 15 first, and asking Kagome for what the absolute simplest seal he knows of is for use with learning the basics of it.

Omake: The Chunin Exam Arc In 500 Words Or Less
Also, I know its not going to happen for variety but I wish we could participate in the chunin exams.

Omake: Exam Time!

"What." said Hazou.

"I thought you'd relish the chance to be chunin."

"Chunin-level." Noburi corrected.

"Which we already are." Kei pointed out.

"So you'll have no problem proving it!"

"Sensei, Why are we actually doing this?" Hazou asked.

Mari slumped. "The hokage wants all Leaf genin teams to compete as a show of force after that almost-war with Mist. Apparently you count. Jiraiya insisted."

"Oh that's just wonderful..." Noburi muttered.

"And of course, we don't want to upset him, so..."

"Yeah. Okay." Hazou replied. "Well, looks like we're going to Leaf!"

-SCENE CHANGE-

"LEE SENPAI!"

"Akane chan?!"

"Akane chan!" she chirped, nodding, and then pointed at her teacher, "Hazou sensei!"

"Hazou sensei." Hazou replied, also nodding, "Lee san?"

"YOSH!"/"YOSH!"/"YOSH!"

"...kill me." Tenten said in a small voice.

"No." Neji said.

Then, after a beat: "Then who'd kill me?"

-SCENE CHANGE-

"BECAUSE I'M NARUTO UZUMAKI, FUTURE HOKAGE! AND I'LL NEVER GIVE UP! BELIEVE IT!"

Ibiki gave Naruto a long measuring look. "Actually, you and your team still fail because you got zero points on the last nine questions."

The hall was filled with laughter.

-SCENE CHANGE-

"Why is an S-ranked missing nin setting up a hat shop in this forest?"

"I don't know, just don't make eye-contact."

-SCENE CHANGE-

"Huh."

"Yeah."

"For an absolute defence, that sand lasted for way shorter than I was expecting."

"Well I suppose that settles that. There's no problem you can't solve with enough explosive seals."

Kagome thumped Hazou on the back. "So. Proud." He wiped away a tear.

I was thinking about making a plan but I have zero inspiration on what we should actually do.

Asking for backup is not running away.

Traiden, you have been going on about this backup thing for awhile now. What sort of backup are you expecting and how is it going to actually help us?

Don't forget that if we reveal the existence of this village we can't take it back and it definitely constitutes as a hostile action towards the village.

NGL, for a sec I thought this was from the same AU as Mari-stealing-the-boat one (forgot the name, sorry)
..I might be a bit disappointed it wasn't, but it's still good :D

I wonder how much we'd have to do for Jiraiya for it to be worth it to him to arrange for us to be able to travel through Fire (or Konoha) with relative freedom. Because I mean, honestly? I kind of want to see Lee.

Wait, no, once we're allowed to leave we should hunt/gather/fish and stockpile food in storage scrolls (which we should finish researching during our house arrest) so when we're forced to bunker down in our besieged fort we'll have something to eat.

Also also oh, to be the fly on the wall while Kouta explained his actions to his Granny ^^

Well at this point it would be information on how to actually be a good diplomat, also more of the goodwill of a person in high command of a nation by being responsible ninja and reporting things to our boss. Mechanically I would like for us to get bonus to rolls or even a hint from the QMs for doing the sane option. Also was not most of the thread frothing at the mouth to enact a reprisal for harming Akane, why should I care about the isolationist village's isolation?

It is said a lot in Fanon that S rank is the ticket to do whatever the hell you want and only another S class can say no.
It's more or less canon for MfD :V

Latest vote had us abstain from diplomacy. If we decide to try our hand at it again, I suspect by the time tips on Diplomacy make their way to us we'll figure out plenty of stuff on our own.
We can be responsible ninja by doing well the missions we're assigned and not conquering the world in-between them.
According to last tally most of the thread was for staying in the village, with second-most popular opinion being 'run away', not exactly "frothing at the mouth for a reprisal"
re isolated village, your choices are your own, of course, but personally I'd like them useful, neutral or dead, in that order. Keeping them isolated helps with all three, at least for now.

Advice on how to diplomance: "Don't. We'll send someone over."

Goodwill from high command: "Good job, have some pocket change while we rob this village blind."

If you wan't to deal with anyone inside the isolationist village diplomatically, first step is to make sure they don't absolutely detest you. If we blow their cover intentionally neither Yoshida or Takahashi is going to work with us. But lets suppose we do it sneaky like and the village doesn't even notice we got some help. If we don't reveal the village we still have the option to use them as a personal resource, instead of just giving them to Leaf for chump change.

We might decide to tell Jiraya about this village later, maybe even with the village's blessing, but I would like us to get our hands on the summoning scroll and see how things fall out before we make that decision. Telling Jiraya closes more options for us than it opens.

I reserve the right to say "I told you so" when Jirayia tells us that he would have let Kieko have a chance to be judged by the summon scroll animal if we had just contacted him first about this village.
