Long ago, I lodged complaint about this. I think we would have been served better if we skipped the whole tournament stuff aside from Gōtesku's battles. But even then, I felt I have little stake in the outcome of the tournament.
But have you changed your stance on the Heist question since it was last brought up?

To be perfectly honest, the actual tournament fights probably took up only a tiny portion of the exams. Especially given that they were sometimes added alongside the rest of the plan or written when the QM didn't have enough spoons for the main plan (which would ordinarily result in a Lore Update), we really didn't lose much time watching everyone else's fights.

At a glance, what really seems to take up our time is:
  • The Events, which were each an arc unto themselves.
  • The month-long break before the tourney, where we spent time in Leaf doing distinctly non-tournament things like baking cookies with Hana and putting out social fires.
  • The very long irl break where we switched over to FtD.
  • Our unceasing ability to start up new subplots like contacting Ami.
  • General slice of life stuff.
None of those things are bad. AugJev needed to go, the exam Events needed to be covered thoroughly, slice of life is fun, etc. The chuunin exams have taken up a ton of time, and it's reasonable to be anxious to get back to Leaf where we can do proper research again and stuff, but don't pin this all on what's possibly the least culpable part of it.

Slice of life can be fun. When it's not drama that's on fire and also stabbing you.

PSA:

Thanks to help from @Solonarv, ScreamingInKagome is now available as Firefox and Firefox for Android addons: Screaming in Kagome – Get this Extension for Firefox (en-US)

If there are any issues, please let me know bug @Solonarv.
Great news! I couldn't get it to work from Chrome Store Foxified so I had to manually load it as a temp addon each time I restarted Firefox. Not all that much of a hassle, but I'm glad it's automatic now. Thanks!

Anyone else have anything the want to see in my plan? Voting closes tomorrow and the top two plans only have 4 and 3 votes, which isn't a great indication (and gives me youthsuit-related worries).

Let's give this a go

Wordcount: Under 221
[X] Action Plan: Flight Risk

  • As Keiko is leaving arena:
    • Let Noburi take point.
    • Actually congratulate her. She won the exams, that's huge!
    • Subtly tell her J needs her to stay around here to both talk and do post- tournament stuff; and that we got another letter from Ami.
    • If she summons Pandaa, have Hazou distract Pandaa by talking while Noburi tries to talk Keiko down. If she still manages to reverse- summons, just play it cool.
    • Tell J soon as he's free.
  • Once we get somewhere private:
    • Get her input both on what she wants with regards to us interacting with Ami, and what insight she has on Ami's character.
    • If she tries to say her opinion doesn't matter, tell her we do care about her thoughts, we want to hear them, and take it into account as much as we can.
    • Mention Jiraiya's thoughts and concerns on the subject.
    • We are open to talking about what's been happening, but willing to wait for now.
      • Both with us, and what happened with Shikamaru.
  • Verify Ami's story (if time permits).
    • Disguise: civilian.
    • Invent a backstory with Noburi. Ideas:
      • Writer interested in Mist's culinary history.
    • Visit a few restaurants. Inquire about their history, then ask about:
      • Connection between Byakuren's Cookbook and Experimental Cuisine.
      • Byakuren's Cookbook serving large groups of ninja.
    • Byakuren's Cookbook: name-drop Ami for regulars-only menu.
This is my first plan attempt, and I have a fair amount of time tonight to work on it, so tell me what you'd like on it and I'll put it together.

You mentioned adding Akimichi to the Ami investigation but I don't see that in the plan itself. Were you waiting for some other information before adding it in, or did I misunderstand what you meant?
Edited: We can ask him, though it's a bit short notice. Also, is he with Shikamaru now? Because otherwise getting info from Choji while avoiding Shikamaru may be difficult. (Unless we did already ask him and I had interpreted that right the first time).

Shikamaru already knows about Ami, and the notion that simply not asking Akimichi in front of him will keep him in the dark about anything is laughable.

Very cool. Thank you to yourself and @Solonarv

Also, first bug report: if I rate a post and then undo the rating then the SiK icon is no longer present.
As I understand it the script only runs when the page loads. If I'm typing up a post here and SV offers to show me new posts that cropped up while I was typing, those posts won't have the reaction available. It's not much of an issue for me, though, because if a post is SiK-worthy then I'm pretty okay reloading the page to do it.

Oh, also, to be clear, asking Akimichi to do the Q&A for us doesn't strictly require he know about Ami in particular. That segment of the investigation only involves asking about Byakuren's Cookbook and Experimental Cuisine and the things Ami said happened between them, and the name-dropping Ami part of the investigation can still be done by Hazou.

[X] Action Plan: The Best Timeline Beckons

@Roomba can you add in stuff from Halberdier's plan, so we actually have some general direction for how to get her to stay? I don't think your plan says anything about that, but I like what your plan says once we actually get to talk to her.
Sorry if you've already addressed this or something, I'm behind on reading the thread so I don't know what's been said.

The stuff I want added:
As Keiko is leaving arena:
  • Let Noburi take point.
  • Actually congratulate her. She won the exams, that's huge!
  • Subtly tell her J needs her to stay around here to both talk and do post- tournament stuff; and that we got another letter from Ami.
  • If she summons Pandaa, have Hazou distract Pandaa by talking while Noburi tries to talk Keiko down. If she still manages to reverse- summons, just play it cool.
  • Tell J soon as he's free.

Edit:
Oh good, caught up again. There were a lot fewer people saying stuff than I thought.

Well. I can't really vote for Roomba's plan, because there's very little detail as to how we keep Keiko from vamoosing, so...

[X] Action Plan: Flight Risk

Just a note. Currently, @Roomba 's plan is about to win. The one that was not optimised for wordcount and looks more like a declaration of intents, than a plan at the moment...

I'm going to assume good faith here (are you a non-native speaker by any chance?), but bear in mind that "lodge a complaint" is used when people think a service provider is letting them down, and are demanding that said provider do something about it. (In this light, "served better" is a really unfortunate choice of words.) It's sensitive language given that one of the most common sources of QM-player conflict (though one happily rare in this thread) is player entitlement, real or perceived.

A belief that most of the last 20% of the of the quest has been of little worth doesn't help much on that front. The tournament has been a font of unique opportunities. Some the players have taken advantage of, others they haven't, and others still seem to have been forgotten partway through. If you'd rather not attend a special gathering of shinobi from every corner of of the earth in your home village which you otherwise wouldn't be allowed to enter, then that's entirely your right, but I admit that I find it surprising.

Right, so I wanted to edit this yesterday, but ended up falling asleep early - it was a long day. I tried to go below 300 words, but in the end, I'd rather sacrifice the 1 XP to get my meaning across better. I also used the rest of the wordcount to expand on the Keiko section.

@faflec @Twinnstars @Sentient Tree @MMKII please review if you're still satisfied with your votes. I don't plan on making any further significant changes.

[X] Action Plan: The Best Timeline Beckons
Wordcount: 396
  1. Hazou's thoughts on Keiko
    • Even if Ami's intentions are good, Keiko deserves better than being manipulated like this.
    • However, agency and respect are two-way streets. Keiko needs to express her wants and needs better.
    • Suddenly shifting between extremes of "I have no value except as a tool" and "I will hurt you for intruding on things I value" is not healthy.
      • It's definitely not a good way to interact with people.
      • It's fine to disagree and argue with people without reaching either extreme.
      • Hazou is partially at fault for being afraid of offending Keiko. Having a big fight before meeting Ami would've been better than this.
    • And Keiko does have value! She just won the tournament! The whole family loves her! It's almost insulting that she insists on her own worthlessness in spite of this.
  2. Getting Keiko to come back
    • She's not angry at Noburi. Let him take point on this.
    • If he thinks he'll have better luck on his own, leave him to it.
    • Definitely do not do anything suggesting you'd physically stop her from going back to the Seventh Path.
    • Don't lean too heavily on Jiraiya's authority. It runs the risk of putting her into her "I am a tool that must obey" mindset.
  3. Planning for the next meeting with Ami
    • Insist on including Keiko, if she's present. Noburi is a given.
    • Hazou is fed up with Ami's games, and intends to push for some straight answers.
    • The goal is to find out if Ami is capable of respecting Hazou as a partner (in general, not just in the context of a possible marriage)
      • Either she acquiesces and drops the games, or she doesn't, and that will be a negative answer in itself.
      • She can lie, but it would have to be a lie that holds up long-term.
    • Hazou is concerned that she may be in serious trouble, some of her actions seem quite desperate. In that case, he's willing to go to significant lengths to help Ami, for Keiko's sake.
    • Nonetheless, he has two necessary conditions for this help:
      • Some honesty from Ami
      • A declaration of intent in regards to Keiko. Hazou won't work with her if she intends to continue to pull hurtful bullshit like the marriage proposal without any regard for Keiko's feelings.
    • Get Keiko's permission to discuss her with Ami. Be clear that you won't if she doesn't give it.
