We should talk to Kagome how we were *not* killed in MIst and that Aunt Ren is kinda, sorta our ally.
She's our nominal ally, in that our two nations have temporarily agreed not to kill each other and may agree to attempt to kill other people to prevent the other from being killed in the future.

This does not change the fact that I would kill Ren with zero hesitation if it brought us say, 10% closer to our goals in a nonlethal manner.

Or if she decides to become Slightly Less Evil Yagura, and for that merely on principle.

Hm. It's possible that we could use the Kurosawa's ability to mass produce seals as a bludgeon against Mist -- and Ren in particular -- to keep them from siding against us. Of course, I wouldn't bet against them spiting us anyways.

Also, did anything ever come of the printing press seals idea?
Haven't gotten to it yet. It may or may not have just slipped our minds, I'm not too sure, but it's one of those things that waiting a month on wouldn't actually be much of a problem. It's a long-term project with long-term payouts, if it's more convenient to start after the tourney, better to do it then.

How it will start is pretty simple. A series of conversations with any or all of Kagome, Jiraiya, and Shikaku. Kagome to get theoretical viability, Jiraiya for the same and general approval/thoughts, and Shikaku because we'd be using Nara printing presses for all of this.

To be honest, I would be very surprised if the Nara weren't working on this as we speak.

The latter, though it's less 'expect' and more 'would find unsurprising'.
To be honest, I kind of expect that this is why they pursued printing presses to start. It's apparently been long enough since they were made for it to be not-secret (it's public knowledge that they exist, and the phrase gives away how it works), and while it's an easy way to make money, I doubt that's the only reason they'd pursue that technology.

Now, on the other hand, it's quite possible that they judged it to be too risky to develop a new sealing style specifically for the printing press, or that they decided the printing press they had to start wasn't precise enough, but I do, at least, expect them to have thought about it.

Automating the production of supernatural devices that are destructive when they work properly and existential threats if the printing press develops a slight bit of wear or slightly slips a gear.

I see no way in which this could go wrong.

Hey, @Velorien! You know how the players have been more scared of you than me lately? I call dibs on the "first production run from the seal printing press" scene!

Yikes. And I thought I was a bad person.

JK. :p

When's the last time a national leader was assassinated though? '63?

If we assume that Ninja Deathworld is an order of magnitude more death-ful on every measure (that is how this works, trust me - I have a theoretical degree in statistics), then they should have a head of state be assassinated (in all of the EN) approximately once every five years or so.

We're probably due for another, I think.

Thats probably why the Kage are usually "I can kill five of you, so what?" Level badass.

Except Ren

Somehow I don't think you can just 'ten times as deathful' compare our world and the EN when leaders in our world are squishy talky types and people have long range instadeath no jutsu, and leaders in the Elemental Nations are the next best thing to walking natural disasters.

That said, Ren is more of a squishy talky type than usual.

There are people with long range instant death justu. Snipers.
