I mean, honestly. We kinda need chakra capacity. :p
Hm. That reminds me: do you think Noburi could act as a booster between tournament matches? As in, he can top Leaf tournament fighters before/after their match so that they can go back to fighting at 100%?

Or is the tournament going to be a several-day affair wherein all contestants get the chance to refresh?

Try to avoid being anywhere alone except break rooms; stay within earshot of teammates.

I'm not sure even break rooms are safe. If someone tries to mug us in one we'll likely want backup. Someone did try to get us alone in one to ambush us that one time, after all.

Something something matchmaking service? (Idea - Spread a rumor about the service. With ninja identities already exposed, people might be more willing to take up this offer. In a break room, a member of Team Uplift will ask "who are you looking for" and direct people together, under a guarantee that the info won't leave your team. Net potential gain is 45 points for parties matched with this, and 10 points for each match for every member of Team Uplift.)

Alright, since nobody's bothered to try to come up with a better write up for this...

Start a matchmaking service of some kind. With ninja identities already exposed, people might be more willing to take up this offer. A member of Team Uplift will ask "who are you looking for", though not their own role (which can likely be sussed out anyways), and direct people together, under a guarantee that the info won't leave your team. Net potential gain is 45 points for parties matched with this, and 10 points for each match for every member of Team Uplift. Consider using break rooms for the information exchanges.

Likely not. At that point we're in direct competition with him, and he needs to preserve chakra for his own use.

Re Sealing Research:

I suggested on discord that we might want to research a dazzling light seal since it seems like a useful but easy project. Light-emission is known to be a very easy thing for seals to do, and sensory weapons are fun.

I was thinking more of chakra transfer, as in members of SuperTeam Leaf that didn't make it to the tournament (e.g., Team Guy) could give chakra to Noburi to refill him. Though you make a point about the competition, maybe make it so it only applies if against non-Leaf fighters?

Well, whether or not that's available will depend on whether non-contestants can interact with contestants. If we can access people who can give transfers, then it's possible.

Though, I will note that I expect teams that Leaf didn't make it to the tournament won't be here at the time, at least for the most part.

Alright, modified it, thanks. How about we do this with people that catch us out on trying to get their intel -- we can be like "Good, you're sharp -- say, have you found your secret partner? If not, I'm offering a service to help find them. "

Put them through mood whiplash to distract them from immediate retaliation against us.

I'd leave that kind of minutia to the characters.

Eh, just figure out how the casino seals work. They're supposed to be flashbangs, right? Just pop them and go underground to avoid the "flash", and make sure to have Banshee Slayers on to avoid the "bang".

Hm, that is true.

Personally I want to go down casino seals and LBF so we could get long range activations. Trap the arena the night before and just obliterate everyone

I see you're getting started on the Anti-Batman Anti-Shikamaru weaponry early.
bUT OUR RESIDENT WOOBIE :(
We can spend our time making him a "Belt of Everywhere Explosion" or something fitting. Kagome sensei would rather we Constant Vigilance and kick ass.
He would probably punch us in the face for wasting the most valuable of prep time anyway.

If Jiraiya stays in Mist then Gai (as one of his honor guards) would probably stay with him. We need that sweet sweet punching XP.

We might need to spend some more XP on chakra unfortunately. Our current pool sn't optimized for tournament style combat.

We will need to eventually bite the bullet to get it to an (appreciable for an elite ninja) size anyway. I'm not thinking much for now, maybe like a handful of levels to keep it competitive, if we can budget it in.

Re: Sealing research, I had a number of ideas that I think fall somewhere on the tech tree on the way to Kagome's seals (Implosion for one has similar mechanics to a lot of what I'm thinking) that I think would be heavily useful in the tournament. I will do a write up post once we are mopping up Event 5.

What do the casino seals do exactly? I keep seeing them mentioned, but I don't remember what they do.
To my knowledge, casino seals create a light/sound on use of chakra in the vicinity. NOT a flashbang, these seals were used in a casino with civilians.

I caught myself before putting that in because I remember the lack of telescopes being such a fucking meme in this quest. :)
I maintain my position that we should absolutely get a telescope. It would significantly increase our capabilities if we had one. I'd settle for binoculars, except that I don't think those were invented as early as telescopes.

Out of curiosity, what's stopping Hazou from claiming that everyone's secret role is his counterpart's? If both himself and his counterpart, knowing that they don't know their counterpart's identity, do this, would they end up with the +30, even though it's blatantly obvious they didn't actually identify their counterpart?

I assume that trivial ways of gaming the wording of the rules will be met with scornful laughter and harsh point penalties.

I mean, they didn't account for the possibility of other seals with the same function in the Second Event, even though they knew that one of their major potential enemies was a friggin' sealmaster...

From the way that one went it sorta implied to me that seals were kinda an OOCP for these people

At least until you get to the upper echelons , hopefully .

I suspect sealmasters mostly stay at home producing seals rather than have a gadgetter and armorer who actually operate in the field and the creativity to use them to achieve results.

I've been trying for 2 years to get us to research them

We barely have time to do any research and Hazō is beret of beginner seals and basic seal training of a normal Leaf sealmaster as well.

@Cariyaga

  1. Continue the event, enacting various plots and schemes. Check these with Keiko and Noburi, and STL if they judge it necessary.
    • Try to avoid being anywhere alone except break rooms; stay within earshot of teammates.
    • Write down lists detailing relevant information of the teams you want sabotaged prepared. Only release this through Bonku if someone else does something similar, otherwise it'll be a race to to the bottom that benefits the low-scoring teams.
      • Alternately, we could start rumors through Bonku of high-scorers being ninja.
    • Use sweat to determine who's a ninja and who isn't.
      • The genin probably don't have much experience with alcohol, additionally.
    • Chat up the drunk ninja -- those that aren't seemingly-violent -- and make good on not being drunk to get intel from them: names, village, team name, and secret IDs, both theirs and that they know of.
    • Start a matchmaking service of some kind. With ninja identities already exposed, people might be more willing to take up this offer. A member of Team Uplift will ask "who are you looking for", though not their own role (which can likely be sussed out anyways), and direct people together, under a guarantee that the info won't leave your team. • Pretend to be disguised proctors looking for the perpetrators, convince drunken ninja to give half-words, secret identities, and other event-related personal details.

This section is pretty wide ranging. I don't think we have time to do all of them. Possibly make it clear that we are doing the ones that Team Uplift thinks are best?
