(Also I want to state that I'm not calling for a different ruling or making any requests that I expect to be acknowledged, just making an attempt to refine epistemics of the discussion here.)
Personally, I've found this entire incident extremely frustrating. I would really appreciate it if we could let go of further objections and philosophical discussion -- especially if it is not purposeful, since no requests are being made -- and instead focus on moving forward without further debate aside from "how do we use tipserators and what else do we do?"

Wait! @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Is there dirt under the wooden porch at the front of the mansion that we were standing on before? Stairs leading up to it, etc.? Could we pop up under there with HLAM for a near-guaranteed hideaway to activate the tipserator from?

e: Alternatively, could we use an FP for that as a declaration?

That works fine for safety, but breaks opsec on Misterators. Granted, this may not be a huge problem. If the result isn't a massacre, letting everyone know it was us a month later (during the tournament) would be acceptable, in my view.

Can we get more time? We spent Monday operating under the assumption of a different scenario.

Do you really think it'll make any difference? We just need to decide how to use the Tipserators, and maybe some kind of followup. We can ask @Velorien to end the update afterwards, so we still have a few hours left in the event for @eaglejarl's update on Saturday.

[X] Action Plan: Hazou's 12

Goals: Start a chain reaction to get more teams disqualified
Means:
  1. Give Shikamaru a banshee seal
    • Tell him if he sees an opportunity to cause some more chaos safely to take it
    • Talk about how we have a chance to have an all Leaf tournament
    • Let him know that we trust him
  2. Use the Tipserator to get a bunch of ninja drunk. Don't get caught.
    • Hazou will use Hiding Like a Mole to move under the porch near where the people are gathered, toward the back so he doesn't get caught, followed by using the tipserator
    • Do not release Hiding Like a Mole: Instead, immediately sink back underground the moment the tipserator goes off.
    • Have Hazō use a dark glove to make his hand less visible
    • Also conceal Our face
  • Return to Super Team Leaf.
    • Go back underground, returning to the marquee. Check using tap codes with Keiko or Noburi from underground to be sure nobody's around.
    • Find out the results of the operation.
    • Express a general willingness to work together with the other teams to maximize point gain for STL. The better Leaf does in general, the more powerful Leaf appears.

Hm. Use beneath the porch to check locations (rather than wasting chakra on Living Roots), then proceed to do it your way?

Find out the results of the operation.

How are we going to do that from so the STL location though? We shouldn't rely on Hinata so much, IMO.

I think if we are stuck in this situation any longer we as a thread will go insane.

Here here
[X] Action Plan: Life is Marked for Death

Goals: Get the majority of the people here drunk without getting caught. Reduce the non-Leaf high ranking teams point scores. Get lots of points for Team Uplift.

Means:
  1. Use the Tipserator to get a bunch of ninja drunk. Don't get caught.
    • Hazou will use Hiding Like a Mole to get near where the crowd of herded ninjas and civilians should be, using the Tunneler's Friend to breath and Living Roots to detect for positioning. He'll raise his hand with the tipserator ever so slightly above ground in a spot near where the herd should be, and the release in a wide area dispersal.
      • Try to get some of Noburi's (or Keiko's) chakra to avoid chakra overdraw.
    • To assist with timing, request that Hinata use her Byakugan to let you know the optimal time to move (when the crowd is gathering). Be willing to trade a few seals for this if needed.
    • To assist with positioning, ask Keiko and Shikamaru where they think the best general 'side' of the crowd would be (mansion side, gate side, or one of the other wides).
  2. Return to Super Team Leaf.
    • Go back underground, returning to the marquee. Check from a discreet location to ensure there's no proctors or witnesses to your emergence outside of the team.
    • Find out the results of the operation.
    • Suggest that the teams cooperate to lower the scores of high scoring non-Leaf teams by sharing information. Targets of particular interest are Team Downfall, Team Mugiwara, Team Gensō, and any other team that other members of STL want dealt with. If possible, have accounted for this when using the tipserator, and try to get them in the blast radius.
    • Express a general willingness to work together with the other teams to maximize point gain for STL. The better Leaf does in general, the more powerful Leaf appears.
  3. Discuss the below plots/schemes.
    • Write down lists detailing relevant information of the teams you want sabotaged. Have Bonku distribute them and post them up in public places.
    • Observe who is sweating and who isn't. Those who aren't are ninja.
    • Something something matchmaking service? (Idea - Spread a rumor about the service. With ninja identities already exposed, people might be more willing to take up this offer. In a break room, a member of Team Uplift will ask "who are you looking for" and direct people together, under a guarantee that the info won't leave your team. Net potential gain is 45 points for parties matched with this, and 10 points for each match for every member of Team Uplift.)
    • <Fill in more ideas here>
  • Undid the shrinking since we're not getting bonus XP for shorter plans here.
  • Altered section 3 to be a discussion, not "us actually doing the thing".
  • Added suggestion to use Living Roots.

I don't know what utility "discussing plans" may have in this context since we're just sort of throwing shit at the wall and hoping Keiko or Noburi have an opinion on it (which at this point, is tantamount to asking EJ or Vel to throw us a bone for the sake of getting this over with). The sweat thing is certainly a good idea, but shouldn't we have been doing this already? It was one of the points of the EM gambit. I like the matchmaking idea but I wasn't aware that multiple people could fit in a break room at once (how does that work?).

I think we can come up with 2-3 things by tonight that are tangible.

I highly doubt Shikamaru won't see through this obvious ploy in 1). This doesn't seem like a useful deviation from the other plan.

Last time we ended up doing the thing (tipserator) and I don't want a repeat. This time I want to make sure we know our options and coordinate with SuperTeam Leaf.

Also because if we actually do the things @Velorien will have, like, a ton of scenes. This way he has like 2, or 3 if he wants to split up the SuperTeam Leaf conversation.

@Velorien

Could we get an answer on this, please? Thanks! :)
There is dirt beneath the porch which would suit your needs. However, note that this is a medieval Japanese porch rather than a modern American one, and is thus exposed apart from the support pillars, somewhat like this.

Wait what!?

Is there a retcon? What happened? The thread jumped like 20 pages and now we're talking about not using the tipserators?

I am confused.

Write down lists detailing relevant information of the teams you want sabotaged. Have Bonku distribute them and post them up in public places.

I don't think lists is going to work after all. Instead, maybe Shikamaru or others from STL would let us buy into their information? The argument of Leaf looking strong was already mentioned but we could maybe sweeten the deal by providing more seals to ensure their success in the next event.
And while this is technically OOC knowledge, it isn't much of a stretch to assume that the next event will involve combat again so our help via seals and possibly allying with them (if possible through event rules) could be a strong argument to strengthen the alliance further so we all make it to the tournament.

If we actually do the thing we'll have three-four scenes:

  • Hazou leaves superteam Leaf (can be rather small if necessary)
  • Hazou activates tipserator
  • Clusterfuck happens
  • Hazou returns to superteam Leaf.

Wouldn't hanging out under the stairs be sufficient cover?

It was ruled that Tipserators, like Misterators, do not (fully) block LoS so the explosion that caused the stampede never happened. We still have to use the Tipserator for the next plan but chronogically we are at the point where we are just about to leave and drop it.

Sure. You just won't have LOS to the crowd from behind them, which is a thing I assumed you wanted.

Ah I see, I was unsure about the intent.

I don't see why we can't apply the part in Faflec/Enjous plan regarding the HLaM jutsu (possibly in conjunction with Living Roots) to do mostly the same as in that plan but with the addition that we do it underneath the cover of the porch (and aiming at the crowd) instead of directly in the crowdThis way we are not at risk of someone merely looking down and outing us.

I am confident that Hazou can time this accurately enough to be effective.

Edit: He may not have the best vantage point by doing this from this spot, actually.

...

Are we sure that Akane understands the situation correctly? Remember, this is the girl who was bemused when we got worried about her reaction to finding out that Mari killed a Leaf patrol. That really doesn't mesh with the way she's acting right now. From our perspective:
  1. Our team specifically doing well is the most important thing for Leaf's international politics that the genin can affect right now (barring clever things). If we do well then Jiraiya has more leverage, which means Leaf gets better deals. Our mission is to own the exams in as publically decisive a manner as we can.
  2. The secondary objective of our mission is to get the other Leaf teams to do as well as possible, since this also improves Jiraiya's position in negotiations.
  3. The exams are not a fair contest. We literally do not care about playing by the rules in the slightest. The exams are not an opportunity to show off our skills in an honest manner and get promoted. They are an opportunity to tilt the scales of global politics in Jiraiya's favour.
I think Akane either hasn't internalised this, or was never briefed in the first place, because right now she seems to think of the exams as a chance to show off our skills and earn a promotion.

Is akane cleared for any of that?

She probably doesn't but I am not sure how much we are at liberty to tell the other Leaf teams. This is also the reason why I haven't suggested using Naruto's name as form of emotional manipulation for the STL: The better we do - and our clan specifically - the more likely it is we can get Naruto back, who is presumably their friend even in MfD (and could potentially still be Hinata's crush).

E: Maybe we can take Akane aside later and tell her it is very important our clan does well but we are not allowed to tell her why - yet (how did we all collectively forget to ask Jiraiya if we could tell STL?). Chances are she will be able to guess part of it and we might be able to fill her in later.
