@faflec minor typo in Step 4. Bullet point 3

"If we cannot we then" -> "If we cannot we proceed anyway".

Suggestions @faflec: Kei/Noburi should interact with the party and make false contacts before talking to Akane. There should be more attention to OPSEC there.

e: Anyone else have OPSEC suggestions?

Done.

Done, could you check to make sure that my edit works? The outer bullet was already part of the plan, I just added a sub-bullet with your suggestion.
  • Be very careful about this and make absolutely sure nobody ends up taking note of Akane. Her safety in this plan depends on her evading attention while traversing the mansion.
    • Keiko and Noburi could interact some more and make some false contacts along the way, to preserve OPSEC.

[X] Most Troublesome
  • Escape via tunneling jutsu, using henge to reapply our disguise before surfacing.
  • Walk slowly and quietly to the nearest available breakroom, making no indication of acknowledging anyone, while pouting and muttering loudly about our acting career being over and how we'll have to go back to leaf as a disgrace.
  • Lock the door and wait until the event is over. Go ahead and start writing ballots, on the off chance they are accepted. (Burn FP as necessary so that we have writing materials. Store these ballots in storage seals for later use.)
  • For ballots, guess that everyone is a ninja, except the 20-30 people we most suspect to be civilians (obviously don't list unhenged proctors). Do not enter any information for Noburi or Keiko's personas.
    • Write down full details for the ninja we observed out of henge.
    • Write down that we guess all ninja are from the most represented village among teams (other than leaf), unless we have some hunch otherwise for the ones we think are most likely ninja.
    • Guess randomly team affiliation and name as well, unless we have a strong hunch otherwise (was it Shin who approached us to join the clique?). If we only know a few names, use only the teams they're on for guessing. Ensure these are logically consistent to the best of our ability. (No guessing Rock Lee is from Sand for example.)
    • Use our best guess as to secret identity for each ninja if we have any idea, otherwise, guess randomly.
  • Reflect on how badly we screwed up, how easily we could have died, and resolve to never again prepare a static resting location without considering what Kagome-sensei would say.

Please emphasize: The "most represented village" should not include Leaf.

Hm. @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Are we allowed to guess that every ninja is our secret identity's counterpart? Would that be a viable strategy?

No worries friend, there will be enough time for a dice roll victory after the next updaterino

[X] Meta: Feed Henge to a Grue

Whether it's replaced with a simple illusion power or flat-out removed, I'm on board.

Alright, here's a distinct thing you guys should be able to answwer. @eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail If you wish to make sweat-loss-popping analagous with cutting out a piece of clothes -popping, then how much cloth can be removed from a henge before it pops? That volume of sweat to do the same should be what's necessary to separate from the body (by any means) in order for the henge to pop.

e: Which, to be clear, would likely take far less long than it would to pass out from sweat loss.

Please emphasize: The "most represented village" should not include Leaf.

HDK.

Seems like everything's ok on the plan front. I'm thankful that the new thing is winning and I'm not put into the unenviable position of having to potentially integrate edits from an alternative plan at the last minute.

A quick Google search gives me this (from https://www.healthline.com/health/extreme-temperature-safety#extreme-heat-temperatures):

"The relative humidity in your environment can affect the temperature you actually feel, which is called the "apparent temperature." Some example scenarios include:
  • If the air temperature reads 85˚F (29˚C), but there's zero humidity, the temperature will actually feel like it's 78˚F (26 ˚C).
  • If the air temperature reads 85˚F (29˚C), with 80 percent humidity, it will actually feel like 97˚F (36˚C).
High environmental temperatures can be dangerous to your body. In the range of 90˚ and 105˚F (32˚ and 40˚C), you can experience heat cramps and exhaustion. Between 105˚ and 130˚F (40˚ and 54˚C), heat exhaustion is more likely. You should limit your activities at this range. An environmental temperature over 130˚F (54˚C) often leads to heatstroke."

Lower down, it also mentions abrupt temperature changes as a risk factor.

*twich* This is coming in a wee bit late.

Guys. Did nobody else Google things in the several days this was being disucssed? Someone came up with the 45 degrees Celcius number from somewhere. (I vaguely remember it was said to come from an activity minded QM, but don't hold me to that)

Let's hope that Noburi, Keiko, or even Akane know enough to adjust the temperature to safe levels. @faflec, if you're online you might want to change it to maybe... 35 degrees? (95 degrees Fahrenheit - should still be enough to induce sweating) Or just specify hot enough to cause sweating without danger.

Then again, people shouldn't be extremely active here. The civvies aren't doing a lot of exercise, and any ninja moving around can probably take it given their physical conditioning.

EDIT - found the relevant quote:

So, I talked to Jackercracks, a fitness and exercise expert, and he claims that setting the temperature to 45°C should be sufficient to force sweating and people to evacuate in general (though not at a super fast speed that'd cause injuries) without causing increased risk of heart conditions, etc. Conveniently it's much cheaper on chakra that way too.

e: Does somebody want to write up this as a plan?

So, from a former QM I believe? Regardless, we consulted an expert here apparently.

@faflec - we may want to have Hinata use her bullshit eyes to make sure there's nobody asleep in the mansion or whatever, to ensure total evacuation.

Random thought: You know, the only reason I wasn't pushing for lv. 40 EM from when it was first invented was that it was suicide to centralize power on us when we were so vulnerable. I'm now pretty sure that's defunct reasoning, since
  1. Skywalkers
  2. Hokage
So... who's with me? ¾ serious here.

JASHIN HAVE MERCY FOR MY LAST MINUTE EDITS AHHHHHH
Right, added "Hazou Henges" and removed "The Second Level Game" from @Roomba's plan. Also added a way to contact Hinata without talking (have paper under clothing/Henge, which only a Byakugan user could see). Edit: More changes, this is now invalid.

[X] Action Plan: The Pressure Cooker SIC

This plan will ideally take us until the Elemental Mastery gambit described either bears fruit or fails. We'd like the update to end at that point in order to separately plan how we want to capitalize on what we have wrought.

1. Escape the tunnel
Hazou moves to the collapsed tunnel exit and uses the tunneling technique to create a new one, aiming to emerge at the original entrance point. Before exiting to the surface, Hazou will Henge into his cover identity. Conceal the new entrance afterwards, if it can be done quickly and quietly.

2. Discuss the plan with our teammates
  • Find a secluded spot away from the tunnel entrance.
  • Check Hazou's equipment for signs of tampering. This includes if anything's been stolen AND if anything's been added to Hazou's equipment.
  • Hazou relates what happened to him and hears what Noburi and Keiko have been up to.
    • He strongly suspects he was followed when he went to dig the tunnel, and consequently, that his assailant knew his identity at the time.
    • Given that the assailant was a Wakahisa, obvious suspects are either Team Downfall or a rogue proctor.
    • In any case, Hazou believes that our enemies stepped up their cheating, and that conventional strategies will no longer result in a good score for this event.
    • After hearing Noburi's story, Hazou expresses surprise that Hinata didn't warn Noburi about the trap, which she should've been able to see with her Byakugan.
  • He explains his plan (found under points 3 and 4), and asks for feedback from his teammates.
    • Hazou himself is compromised and will be watched the moment he makes a public appearance. Keiko and Noburi's identities might be as well, so they should exercise great caution.
    • Because of this, Hazou himself will provide a distraction, while they execute the real plan.
    • The plan hinges on Akane's help and breaks opsec on Elemental Mastery. Hazou isn't happy about it, but it's the safest idea he has under the circumstances.
  • Noburi and Hazou are low on chakra, and we might need to support Akane later. If there's an opportunity to ambush a candidate safely in the maze and drain them a bit, go for it. If not, there will be more opportunities later.
  • Update should end if Keiko deems the idea unworkable or too reckless.
3. The Elemental Mastery Gambit
  • The basic idea is to use Elemental Mastery to increase the temperature in most of the event area to uncomfortable levels, derailing the party and herding participants into a single area. Capitalize afterwards.
    • The purpose is to disrupt the event, derail any ongoing plans, and pressure both other candidates and proctors into bad decisions.
    • Increasing the ambient temperature will let us distinguish ninja from civilian via observing their sweat dissipate after leaving their chakra body.
    • Hazou is open to ideas on how to capitalize effectively - Noburi was always good at this kind of thing.
      • We could exacerbate the situation by getting everyone drunk via booze misterators (see Preparation: Spanner in the Works).
  • Find Akane and ask her for help.
    • Agree on a signal in case she refuses, in which case the update should end.
    • Easiest way would be to use Bonku, but Hazou leaves this (and most of the plan's execution) up to Noburi and Keiko's judgement.
    • Be very careful about this and make absolutely sure nobody ends up taking note of Akane. Her safety in this plan depends on her evading attention while traversing the mansion.
      • Keiko and Noburi could make some false contacts along the way, to preserve OPSEC.
    • We want her to place EM zones along the perimeter of the grounds, and then within the mansion itself, with the intent of driving all the party participants into an exposed, open area.
    • The target temperature should be enough to make people sweat without being dangerous (35-45 degrees Celsius?).
    • There's no rush - Akane should take great care not to give herself away, prioritizing that over speed. Nobody should see her cut handseals for EM, and she should always cast it from a distance.
    • Once the participants have gathered in the designated zone, place EM there as well, but at a lower temperature, encouraging them to stay, but still causing them to sweat.
    • If we get Hinata she could use her bullshit eyes to make sure there's nobody asleep in the mansion or whatever, to ensure total evacuation. Doesn't have to happen, just a thought.
    • Decide on an out of the way safe-zone, where we can direct allies, and which we'll cool with ice from our storage scrolls. Perhaps a remote break room?
  • Notify our allies of the safe zone.
    • Ideally, this should be the whole SuperTeam, or however many of them Keiko and Noburi can find.
    • This can happen concurrently with Akane setting up the EM zones.
    • Only tell them that the location will be safe if they need it, without specifying what the threat is.
      • If Team Asuma want in, explain the plan to them, but request some chakra for Noburi as a buy-in.
    • Hazou can suggest writing a message and hiding it under their clothes/Henge, which only Hinata could see.
  • Wait until the plan bears fruit. Our team get ready to unleash more chaos on the congregated partygoers.
  • Contingency: Henge breaking via sweat
    • Hazou suspects this might happen. He suggests we find a break room overlooking a cooler area so we can spot Henge breaks from far away.
4. Preparation: The Spanner in the Works
  • Once everyone is congregated due to Step 3 above, we plan on using Misterators to disperse a diluted alcoholic mist into the air for people to breathe and become intoxicated.
  • The point of this is to sabotage any further plans in the works and to make everyone else easier to manipulate.
  • Obviously if we can find members of SuperTeam leaf as in Step 3 we will try not to target them as best as we can. If we cannot we then proceed anyway.
  • Noburi will use his medical knowledge to calculate an extremely safe (but still effective) concentration to use.
  • Before (or even during) the distraction in Step 5, Noburi/Keiko can go to the kitchen to acquire the necessary amount of water and sake. If needed, spend a fate point to declare that there is a sufficient volume of sake available., unguarded by chefs. "There sure is a lot of sake around here unaccompanied."
    • We may not need to steal it if it's being sold. Have real money ready.
  • Noburi tests the sake to make sure there are no extra elements added to it, then calculates the concentration.
  • Noburi and Hazou mix the solution and prepare the Misterators.
5. The Distraction (doesn't need to happen on-screen)
  • Hazou's identity is almost surely compromised, and disseminated to an unknown number of parties. However, whoever knocked him out expect him to stay knocked out, and will surely be distracted if he suddenly becomes publicly active. This should run concurrently with our preparations in Steps 3 and 4.
  • Hazou adjusts his persona to appear a bit drunk and more gregarious and outgoing for this.
  • He goes out of his way to talk to a lot of people and move around with apparent purpose.
  • The Fake Sneeze Gas threat
    • Hazou uses Sleight of Hand to plant harmless training seals in various locations. Spend FP on him having them, if necessary.
    • He also occasionally leaves a meaningless "coded" message in spots that seem like they'd be good for dead drops.
    • In conversations, he offers in confidence that he overheard some people in the maze talking about unleashing a gas in the mansion that is supposed to cause rapid and violent sneezing. Aren't ninja just weird sometimes?
  • He tries to keep an eye out for anyone specifically following him throughout.

Ok, that should do it.

Anyways, I did think of something humorous...

- On the day of the fourth event, Leaf revealed its technique that could cause those within an area under henge to sweat enough to pop their disguises.
- Mist's planning department is in a panic to figure out how to counteract this, shifting their schedules for the next few days to deal with this new possible threat.
- A couple days later, the Henge jutsu suddenly stops working due to a sealing failure that resulted in the jutsu being devoured by the Out.
- Mist's planning department is suddenly conflicted, as one crisis has been averted only to be replaced by another one.
- Shikaku learns of this order of events. He concludes that somehow Hazou knew the sealing failure would happen, and that he revealed a trump card that would be rendered useless so as to waste the time of Mist's planning department. His delusional evaluation of Chessmaster Hazou reaches new heights.
