Technique proposal:

Earth Release: Dust Storm Technique

The user kicks up a cloud of dust that obscures the vision of others, while providing the user with enhanced situational awareness by letting them sense where the dust is (and by extension, where it isn't because there's something or someone in the way).

Would certainly be significantly more useful than Living Roots with skywalkers, that's for sure. Maybe bonus to stealth and awareness?

e: I find it ironic that I came up with a medical ninjutsu technique that might have saved Minami right before she died.

@eaglejarl @Velorien @OliWhail Hypothetical scenario regarding combat mechanics: If we engage in combat with an enemy, but then manage to break LOS through a jutsu or seal (e.g., Misterators), can we then roll a Stealth vs. Awareness die to force an Ambush round, as though combat was stopped and restarted?

I think what would happen in that case is that first they'd try an action to reacquire LOS, and then would get an high Awareness bonus for knowing you're coming, but it might be possible.

It might just end up being a "winning more" move, so to speak.

I'd imagine it would be possible if you completely escaped from there awareness. So hiding like a mole, flash bangs + henge into new objects, active camouflage. Stuff like that

If you stack debuffs like flashbangs you really shouldn't need to reenter Stealth, but part of the reason why your opponent gets a bonus at all is that your opponent knows there's someone there. Much easier to catch the little clues when you're actively searching for someone you know is there.

No. If somebody attacks you and then you lose sight of them, you're not going to be surprised when they immediately attack you again. If you want another ambush round, you have to disengage for long enough that the enemy thinks you're not coming back. (Reminder: death world survivors tend to be paranoid.)

We should do more exploration of Kagome's clusterbomb design when we get the chance; it could potentially increase the effective range of explosives from Medium to Long Range, and it would also be incredibly potent in combination with Goo Bombs.

e:

Electric Barrier Technique

A seal inspired by Air Dome, but intended for offensive use instead of defensive. Single-seal variant that creates a moderate barrier (slightly less durable than Air Dome), but electrically charged, and lasts only a brief instant. When in melee combat, it may be activated as part of an attack or in response to one (assuming one has a Minor Action prepared [this bit may be cut out if desired]): If the opposition would have won a class B or below (or class A? Not sure), they instead take a (usually) nonlethal jolt of electricity that inflicts an A class injury to them.

Cool, so what would it do, besides give a way for Noburi to mist drain? Would it give Awareness malus die for everyone caught in the AOE (for Initiative Rounds)?

Hm.

Could also make an Electrified Goo Bomb that deals a A-class or B-class (chosen at time of creation) wound per round to anyone caught in the goo.

Have we considered using Air Domes on our palm boxes? Like, if an enemy tries to stab us with their sword we could raise our hands, activate the seals, and then back off as they slice at an Air Dome.

Yeah we have but we need to come up with mechanics for it.

I'd suggest that it takes one quick action from the current round and one quick action from the next round. If you have already used both your quick action it will use both quick actions next round

Possibly. Another idea might be taking Skywalker seals and putting them all over our body for point defense - say, jonin goes for the throat with a kunai, we blow open all the tenketsu there and activate the skywalker seal, we don't get stabbed with kunai.

(lightning users will go straight through that, along with maybe wind users, but we're less fucked this way)

Ordinary ninja such as yourself can only emit chakra from hands and feet. As a general rule seals can only be activated with the fingers.

Then we put the seals on a collar, add a very short motion detector and an LBF seal to activate it, maybe hidden in the buttons.
definitely am not aiming to wear a tux into battle and make it a reasonable decision
