Update on Team Aomori:
They currently know only that the team are "untrustworthy foreign VIPs, no, sorry, that's a tautology", not that you are missing nin in Jiraiya's employ. Please plan any final words or messages accordingly.

Actually, the first priority is getting far away from Fire and making sure that no Leaf splinter groups or third parties follow us.

Not really sure what would be a good route for us to take though and where.
We could go into Ame?

Last I checked nobody goes in there and comes back so it should be perfect for us to go to, and not be followed.

Literally the very first decision the hivemind made during chargen. "Let's be running from Mist into Fire."

But that was less about "Hey canon was this, so it must be so here too" and more "Hey we are still in Character Build mode, meaning our decisions are pretty safe and all options are equally valid".

I guess that is meta-gaming, but it doesn't sound like the same kind of meta-gaming that has us being suspicious about Kabuto.

Is there actually anything we want to say to anyone? I guess leaving a few words might be worth it to keep up the few social connections we managed to make.

Then again this is Hazou, meaning we should probably shut up now and let our teammates take care of that.

Oh, all options were equally valid - hence the fact that you were able to go from Mist into Fire. But it wouldn't have been a rational world if all options were equivalent.

If you'd come to this quest without any metaknowledge, your first move would have been to ask "how are these countries/villages different from each other?" and base your choices on that.

Inoue-sensei can't see how you could have avoided having to leave Leaf in a hurry. If Hazō had understood exactly what he'd done wrong, he'd probably have retained a lot more of Jiraiya's trust and goodwill, but she doesn't know if it would have been enough to prevent the punishment they received.

Augh. That'll teach me to focus on the worst-case. Should have included some kinda conditional thing about the politics angle :(

WRT sealing research, I think we should level up Hazo basic ninja skills and then his sealing skill before starting on the project to research all the seals Jiraiya given to us.

Then we'll decide what to research next.

With the great rebalancing, ninjas are stronger than ever, and we lost Akane, so we need to be extra vigilant.

Yeah, same.

On that note: I think that Hazou should ask for politics and social skills (beyond "how to lie" or "how to convince people of things") training from Mari.

I'm pretty sure we could research the seals J gave us with little issue, with his research notes, but after that, yeah.

No, that was a good move. Better go for the safe option instead of vying for points in a situation like this. We got lucky since Jiraya was fully in charge of everything that was happening.

Yeah, the dragon has our princess and is using her for blackmail. Not fun. :(

Your seals are way too ambitious. Where would we even begin?

We should be thinking of immediate things we can research from our new seals and at some point ask Kagome if he knows anything about the difficulty of creating larger storage seals. If it's linear, exponential or if there's no clear scale. Really we should probably just come up with a list of questions to ask Kagome and rank them by priority and likelihood that he'll overreact.

I don't think Hazou is that much worse at these things than the rest of the team. Unfortunately, despite Waka being the nominal "Diplomancer" of the the younger generation of this team, Hazou's the one who ends up having all the important conversations and hence all the important screw-ups. Perhaps we should work on that.

That said, I'd be interested in finding out which stat we need to level to avoid another Library Incident.

Romance has been nothing but a source of trouble in this quest, and I can't think of a single positive thing to have come of it. Ask Inoue to teach us a Get-Over-It no Jutsu, and we can revisit the matter once we're scary enough that people are too afraid to use our attachments against us.

We threatened a guy who holds her life in his hands. If she's not buried by the time we hear from Jiraiya I'll be amazed.
???

If Kabuto's smart, he'll know that a) Hazou has no credible path to actually hurting him, or convincing others to be suspicious of him, b) he has *immense* leverage over Hazou and the team in the form of Akane + their political debt, c) that all goes out the window (and he takes a political hit) if Akane dies.

I get that it's useful to worry about worst cases, but this doesn't seem like a plausible one. IMO, Keeping Akane alive as a bargaining chip for more bloodline info from us is by far the more valuable move to K, and K (leaf higher-up, high deception, always affable) seems very unlikely to be guided by emotion over expected value.

We should definitely do all those things, but they're not mutually exclusive with me adding every high-level seal idea that I think is kinda neat to the tech tree.
