How would you even keep the jokers out? No vote privileges without first passing a test? Black list anyone who votes without giving reasoning?

That said, if you want to write a second Marked for Death all power too you. I can always read more, just don't expect to keep the trolls at bay forever.
 
@eaglejarl @Velorien You technically never called for an action plan vote for this voting round and the last story update still says that @Velorien is going to "carry the torch from here". Meaning, our winning action plan vote is actually null and you should just continue with the plan we voted in for Chapter 84.

Just factor in the jutsu vote and take that as the decision we made this round.


In addition to our plan makers for this round (@OliWhail and @Dictator4Hire) the biggest casualty of this round is the spirit of youth.

I'm not sure if we are going to be able to use it for fun anymore after it lead to all these negative emotions. Which is sad, since I really like Hazou being youthful. :(

As part of a gambit to cheer up Akane, Hazou acquiring a "youthsuit" would be adorable.

But as a plan in and of itself it indicates that something abruptly broke in Hazou's brain. Perhaps understandable, given the circumstances, but mentally weak ninja don't survive.
 
I am most annoyed for the same reason that (assumedly, apologies if I'm wrong) OliWhail is: He, as a grad student, spent something like 3-4 hours last night working on a plan that someone put up a meme vote for without referencing the previously thought-out plans (either of them!) in the slightest that won because no one bothered to learn from literally two weeks ago.

Well, you can't blame me for trying.

I saw the joke votes but assumed that experienced voters would cancel them before the deadline. It's not like we haven't had close calls before.

I really hate it when we make plans that don't make actual decisions, but this one does take the cake.

Personally, I'm fine with plans that don't make decision (as long as there's, you know, SOME thought put into them) -- not every update can bring us to a point of decision.
 
I really just wanted Oliwhail to add what I thought would be a fun little scene to his plan. I thought if enough people voted for Radvic's plan then he would see that people wanted it, and would make the edit.

And then it went too far. And I thought to try to stop it, but stayed my hand for fear of what people would think of me for it.

The joking comments I made in disoriented shock probably just made things much worse.

I can understand why people might think I was trolling. But really, what's more likely? That someone as demonstrably overinvested in this quest as I am decided to ruin everything for shits and giggles, or that I made several bad judgement calls consecutively without malice?

Fair enough, it's suboptimal but we'll deal.

Though we seem to be fine with meta-plans that just say "do plan X but for Y", which is probably the best way to do that.

If the original plan edits Y in, just change your plan to say "just do plan X" or something. Allowing stuff like that to happen easily is part of the point of approval voting after all.

Reaffirming old decisions is fine, I'm talking more about leaving big decisions to NPCs or putting them off for later because we don't have enough information. (HINT: We will never have enough information.)


I wouldn't worry too much about the results of this vote. We have a solid team who have plenty of experience in dealing with lunatics. Konoha also has the best medical facilities in the world and an actual clan that specializes in mental health. I'm sure Hazou will get all the care he needs.

And I know that you know, since you've been here since the start of the quest? And I know that you know you could have pushed a last-minute vote, since that's literally what you did?

Okay, everyone please take a breath. We have an amazing quest and an amazing community. Don't let it fall apart because a joke accidentally went too far.

Honestly, this isn't the worst thing that could have happened, and it's not the worst time for it to happen. You're not in the middle of a fight with Orochimaru or making a deal with Pantsaa. You're in the middle of Konoha, the nice village. You have Jiraiya's protection so it's unlikely you're going to get dead unless you do something astronomically stupid. @Velorien and I are a little bit evil and I'm a little bit of a troll (joke style troll, not "piss you off to be a jackass" style) but we aren't mean. You'll probably come through the next update fine -- will things happen that you aren't thrilled about? Yes, probably. Will it kill Hazou or spoil the entire quest? Probably not.

Again, please take a breath and forgive each other.

That occured to me about two minutes after the deadline was called.

I deserve your anger. My mistakes might have cost us a lot. But they were mistakes. If I was the sort to ruin the quest for fun, I wouldn't be curating lists, or writing omakes, or involving myself so heavily in discussions.

I wouldn't spend so much of my time trying to make this a more enjoyable experience for everyone involved if that wasn't a thing I cared about.
 
Guys, we are not witch hunting people. Stop roasting @MadScientist over a fire over what he's already stated multiple times to be something he regrets. Stop reducing the thread to sane people and trolls. I'm really upset over what happened, and I am doing my best to stop it, but quit it with the personal attacks. All of us like this quest, and we've clearly demonstrated that almost every single person here wants Oli's plan to be put into effect. I don't think anyone here is literally trying to ruin it.

As a reminder to people who haven't yet, please throw support for this.

Since we seem to have plenty of people in the thread currently (and I don't recognize all the names), maybe I should point out that we don't make stupid decisions like this all the time.

If you are interested helping us in making better decisions, may I refer you towards the voting guide in my signature. It contains tidbits of information and guidance that are useful for old and new participants alike.

I'm not angry, trust me. Frustrated, yes. But frustration can be channeled into a "How do we fix this? How do we make it so we do things better next time?"

If I were angry, I wouldn't be talking with you, since I would have left and found something more fun to do.
