Hidan still needs to eat/drink/breathe as far as I know even if suffocation and starvation would be significantly slowed for him, and trapping him at all is pretty close to our wincon against him. Sasori has organic components (brain+chakra system iirc) in a life support system somewhere in his main puppet body. Unless he's defied medical science (possible), his last organic bits' life support needs should include oxygen. Not as much as a full-sized human being, but not too much less, either, since the brain is pretty resource-intensive as far as the human body's total needs go. Similarly to Hidan, being able to trap Konan entirely in one place is a pretty nice setup for spamming MARS at her or whatever the plan is. Forcing Kisame to reverse summon and stay on the Seventh Path for a week or so is pretty nice if we need to do something like kill his partner or fuck with whatever he was doing on the Human Path at the time. If he doesn't reverse summon, he might be able to break out but I doubt he oneshots runic force dome, we can still laser him.

Itachi is the only one where I think he probably could escape entirely, true, with his esoteric techs and whatever he got from Conjura. Every other Akatsuki member is at least inconvenienced by being trapped in a specific area, whether or not they would suffocate quickly.

The sentiment was posed in the discord server, but I'll say it here too. I sympathize with the QMs and some players finding this arc tedious, but I also think prioritizing the simulation means we have to do it. Rationally it doesn't make sense to interrupt the research grindset with combat/intrigue/drama, unless you're forced to, which we kind of are due to the stagnation mechanics. The only way out is through.

However I don't think there's any reason to write the current arc in the way it's been written, with snippets of Hazo et al in the minutes between all the researching going on. Would it be more QM-spoons-friendly if we just got the sealing notes at the end, and the rest of the update was snippets of other things going on in the EN, or interludes, or something else? The majority of our current plans are just Hazo doing research, or doing something that lets us do more research. There isn't much reason for us to follow his POV when it's essentially static.

He seemed awestruck at getting his actual body back after Pain revived him, so it's unclear that he's going to fully-Mannequin himself again.

Once you're at that level of power and have a group like Akatsuki acting as a deterrent to attacking you….

Well, you have much less incentive to sacrifice your quality of life for another jump in strength.

    • Distribute earmuffs with Banshee Slayers to the pack we're running with each day.
      • Prepare MARS chains for various combat situations.
      • Other seal loadout???
    • If the pack happens to be safely camped in Dog for the night, attend SC training in Toad. Otherwise stay with the pack.
    • Use skywalkers and a telescope to detect roving bands of Leopards. Be prepared to chase them off.

Can we do the following?
  • Send some orders back to Mari to have the clan begin purchasing several small buildings or plots of land around the city. Spin it as some economics wumbo jumbo, but make it inconspicuous.
  • Tell Naruto we can probably defend Leaf from aerial bombardment with a new rune design and are still working on other gamechangers. Advise him to begin reinforcing the ground beneath Leaf immediately.

I'm not sure why we're spending an SSA track on CATEARS, since the last time we did so we didn't use SSA but were able to get 3/4 of the way done in 2 cycles. I'd recommend we walk away from CATEARS as an SSA track and replace it with something else, like ... I dunno, Army of One seals? Telescope Rune? Force Dome Rune? Something else we're interested in doing, at the least, and which translates well into future research.

Suggestions:
  • It will save time if we have a contract with a Dog who can get over to the Leopard border: this way Cannai isn't ferrying us places at our convenience.
  • We should want to safely remain with the pack the whole time, we want to maintain that group cohesion and the loss of a fighter, even in Dog territory, could be bad for us if they get ambushed.
  • "Be prepared to chase them off."? I think "Be prepared to fight them."; they are the ones aggressing on us.

We went from halfway to 3/4 of the way in two cycles. SSA track will hopefully finish it up in a single cycle.

Reasonable suggestions. I'll implement 1/3 for sure and leave 2 up for discussion.

We would be sacrificing FOOM for a while, how do people feel about that?

Whoops, my mistake; we went from zero to 3/4 in about 24 days and 4 cycles (0 to 33% in 7 days/1 cycle; 33% to 50% in another 7 days/1 cycle; 50% to 75% in 10 days/2 cycles). I'd estimate we could finish it in 10 days, non-SSA, but it makes more sense to do SSA I suppose.

Naruto doesn't have to tell him why, or that he's communicating that information to Hazou. And from another angle, Sasuke is probably interesting in discovering the Sharingan's weaknesses and how to avoid them.

(And it's not like we're asking Sasuke, anyway. We're asking Naruto to. If he can't do it, oh well.)
