The "and also fuck you" can remain implied.
Eh, if he really wants, we can say it out loud. I'm willing to do that for him.

So did I. Wasn't the most recent previous math suggesting that even a single implosion seal would have a kill radius in the tens of kilometers...?
Probably. I'm moving today and tomorrow so won't be checking the math before Sunday, but I did use a different model in the math you just quoted (as opposed to the model I used for implosion seal damage). Guven the unphysicality of the situation and the approximations in the kinetic theory of gases, depending on what model one uses one might get orders of magnitude different results (physics works the way it does for a reason). Also, the whole "it's, like, 18 meter radius" is about 4 orders of magnitude weaker than "it's, like, 0.5 meter radius."

He turned to Akane. "Ishihara, your parents can be told that you're in the field for a few weeks. You are not to tell them anything else about this situation. Understood?"

I don't think Hazou should tell him about being Leaf nin either. Personally, I think Hazou's should defer to Akane on whether he should continue to honor that promise, given that the "not talk to Akane at all" portion is pretty well shot at this point.

I don't understand why Hazou wouldn't tell him about being Leaf nin?

Akane was just ordered not to tell her parents anything about the situation other than that she'll be in the field. I interpret that order as being that they have that one thing they're allowed to know, and not someone else, say Hazou, can tell them some of the other things about the situation. Also, I interpret Team Uplift being leaf nin as part of the situation.

Fair. So we'd need to ask after that now.

Also, please don't upset Akane by being smug and abrasive at her dad.

Edit: although tbh I really want to drop by and greet him with "So.... Turns out that if you don't make enough bad decisions to reach quota they kick you out of being a missing nin." *taps headband*

Pretty sure that if Hazō's mental abilities is heritable, it would be OP as hell too.

Nah that's just a part of the inevitable sequel, MfD2. Hazou will have multiple descendants just like the Sage (harems are useful and we want at least one anyway) and the players will be divided up by the QMs so each group of players gets it's own PC. Players and the QMs plan and execute updates in private conversations. The win-condition is to take over the world and kill all other hiveminds Highlander style.

Once only one remains or the story ends the whole thing can be posted on SV for all to see along with 3rd party omniscience for explanations if desired.

It will be paranoia filled.

It will be obscenely violent.

It will be ruthlessly rational.

It will be glorious.

(Dibs on the HazouXIno descendant. This is non-negotiable and is going to happen, Jashin-damnit.)

Maybe we can be a little smug? :D

Or maybe something like: "You will find that many rules bend around me. Such as physics." *skips off through the air into the sunrise with Akane*

...now I want that as an omake.

The answer is to just date Akane. Daddy opinion no longer matters. Don't be a dick but don't ask him for anything

Re Akane, she's been told she can't share the details of the mission with her parents, only that she's leaving. So let's not do the thing where we say things she's not allowed to. In a military village I'll assume everything not permitted is forbidden. Feels safer.

Fake E: ninja'd

We know that the condition Kenta set has been fulfilled. Let's act normal and save the proper (re)introduction tto parents ill after we're back from the mission. I don't think we have time for this conversation now.

It's not like there's much place for romance on a mission, anyway.

  • [AKANE CHAT] (Don't do this in the background if the plan is too long, this is stuff is something the thread needs to both see and have control over)
  • When on the move, when we make camp, or when circumstances generally permit, have a chat with Akane. Generally use CCnJ.
    • We love her and missed her so very much.
    • We're sorry about getting kicked out.
    • We're sorry about not sending her a letter or anything sooner after talking to her father. We felt it was against the spirit of our agreement with him, until someone else reminded us that that choice probably was hurting you.
      • [SENSEI WORRIES] Optionally, at Hazou's discretion: (following are sentiments Hazou wants to express, not things Hazou says verbatim)
        • I don't think you father was actually wrong about some stuff.
        • On reflection being both your sensei and your partner seems problematic.
        • I want to be your equal in a relationship, not your superior.
        • I worry that the power dynamics of being a sensei and being a partner interact badly and can become something exploitative or abusive, even without one of us noticing.
        • I will always have stuff to teach each other and we should.
        • I want to know that, when you think I'm wrong, you'll tell me.
          • My judgement is not perfect, or even all that good, and having someone who I can trust to proactively tell me when I'm being an idiot would be very nice.
    • I think the whole missing-nin issue is sorted though. *smug face*
    • Please don't get a bowl cut or start talking in weirdly oblivious innuendo.
    • Generally catch up.
    • [INO CHAT] Don't insert it yourself, but if the topic of Ino or Rock Lee comes up:
      • We're fine either poly or mono, though we should discuss what we actually want.
      • If she's got a crush on Lee (or anyone else) and wants to go for it, we're cool with that. We're going to be here for her either way, as a partner or a friend. (though we would definitely prefer being a partner)
      • We're not exactly sure how we feel about Ino.
        • There's definitely some attraction on our end, and she definitely acts like she's at least a little attracted. Though she's certainly capable of toying with us without our noticing.
        • There's a non-trivial cynical part of us that sees how she's an incredibly politically advantageous partner to have.

Are we legit confessing love to Akane as soon as time permits? I don't have an objection, per se, just wondering if that's a thing that's possibly going to happen next update.

Also the part where Hazou says that he didn't consider Akane's feeling until someone pointed it out is hella iffy. Maybe not put it like that. Or at all. Rather, take note and do better next time.

We will have things to teach each other.

Akane knows we're not perfect. I trust her to bring up problematic things without us needing to spell it out. As is, I'm reminded of the time with dead Leaf patrol that ended up with us getting lectured on realities of ninja life.

Just plain dislike the bowl cut/innuendo joke *le shrug*

Ino chat terrifies me. I'm sorry I don't have more useful feedback right now, though I will say I would generally prefer not to have so much social in one plan

All in all, I think that a conversation with Akane deserves its own plan when we do get that inter-mission break, and should not be tackled on the main plan.

And decide OOC how thread feels about Ino. Poly romance is a serious commitment even before we consider feelings of other people, and we don't have a good track with romance as is *flashback to our advice to Nobby re Yuno*

On a more personal note, I would not wish to hear my partner casually tell me that he's considering romancing someone else for profit >_>

Like, no. No.

No telling Akane's dad we're Leaf-nin right now - he's not authorized to know yet based on Jiraiya's orders. We've got our miracle, and we're adhering to the spirit of the deal if not the letter (since we haven't talked to him before hanging out with Akane on a mission for the next few weeks, but Hokage's orders override our personal affairs anyways) so he'll just have to wait until we're back.

Anyways, things the plan should include:
1. Akane is here. Address her in some fashion. Even if it's just a hug, telling her we missed her, and saying we'll catch up the first time we make camp or stay somewhere for a night. Should only take a minute, and will show her Hazou cares.
2. It would probably be good to have a brief crash course on skywalkers for Minami and Akane before we leave Leaf. Even 15 minutes of practice and familiarizing them with our procedures would be better than nothing. Also, we shouldn't skywalk out of the village, but take the road until we're out of sight and then skywalk away.

No, I'm fairly sure @Radvic's group will make and use a world-destroying weapon, thus killing everyone.

Not so fun.

Hmm... no chance would I want to DM/GM/QM a competetive world running on MfD magic and mehanics (far, far too many exploits), but I could see this sort of a multiple player character quest world being fun to simulate (also probably absurdly difficult and taking forever). Hmm... what if it were a D&D / other RPG mechanics generic fantasy world with multiple independant PCs (probably not in parties with other PCs) running around. Would people be interested in playing such a thing? Probably would crash and burn fast, but might be fun? Idk.

Under assumption that we're allowed to use Skywalkers we should probably make plans regarding their destruction. What are we willing to blow up with them if someone gets a hold of them? A civilian village? A member of the team? A member of the team's body?

Shadowrun, maybe? D&D is pretty damned exploitable too, as Eaglejarl can attest to.

Good ideas updating my plan.
[X] Action Plan: Make Like A tree
Scene in the Hokage-office
Find out Mission critical information for Hokage-Sama
  • Ask permission to speak about the recent meeting in front of Minami/Akane.
  • Do we have authorization to use Skywalker's for speed/stealth purposes?
  • Ask if Keiko should send a Pangolin messenger (contracted to her) to the Toad Clan using the Summoning Realm.
    • Have we already done this?
    • Would allow Keiko to summon the messenger to give updates to the Toad Clan, and therefore to Jiraiya.
    • Would allow Jiraiya to send messages to the messenger through the Toad Clan, and therefore to Keiko.
    • Grants rapid communications between Konoha and our team after the 10 day travel time.
Letting Jiraiya know that team uplift has his back
  • Let Jiraiya know that he is part of the team now
  • And that team uplift is willing to go Pretty Damn far for Jiraiya as well
  • And even though we don't know him Naruto is to since he is one of Jiraiya's precious people
  • The team might not be able to fight this level of opponent (yet) but we can help give Jiraiya the tools so he can
    • So Hazou is going to need a list of seals Jiraiya would like for us to look over
    • So we can see if we can get another turn it upside down moment
    • Or if there is any other gear that Jiraiya would like to give his new clan
  • Tell Mari and Jiraiya to take care of each other
  • Hugs for everyone
Off-screen put together supplies
  • Get/make:
    • Kunai & shuriken.
    • Rations.
    • Seal-quality paper and ink(stones).
    • Specialized things:
      • Water supply (for Noburi's jutsu).
      • Macerator payloads:
        • Very fragrant things, ideally very fargrant oils for scent bombs. Something that clings to people would be best.
        • Some irritants (like pepper or chillis) for irritant bombs.
        • Very fine ash or talk for smoke bombs.
        • Iron that we can heat for a flash-bang.
        • We can superheat iron ourselves using Elemental Mastery if a smithy is unavailable.Alternatively we just do this when visiting some village with a blacksmith.
        • Portable Skybase.
        • Make Skywalkers (if authorized).
Leave Leaf
Follow standard protocol and start making our way to river

  • Have a reunion with Akane.
    • Hugs
    • Tell her we missed her
    • share stories
  • If Authorized to use skywalkers give Akane and Minami a crash course on how they work once safely outside of leaf
  • Talk with Minami.
  • Do this once we are on our way to river
  • Trade intel on general abilities/seals/protocols.
    • Make note of how we use Noburi's bloodline to boost our border crossings with chakra (without the risk of running out).
    • (If authorized) Brief Minami on Skywalkers.
  • Share stories about our accomplishments with Minami
    • Team uplift should be a toned down version of this our team killed every chakra beast from Fire's Swamp of Death to the jungles of Tea. We've crushed jounin, fought an entire village of ninja, and faced down Jiraiya of the Sannin. I stood my ground in front of Pantsaa of the Adamant Scales, the Boss Summon of the Pangolin Clan, and made him fear me. My comrade"—she waved to Hazou—"killed three chunin in single combat when he was only a few months out of the Academy. Our leader fought his way out of a prison designed to hold sealmasters.
    • Also include how Noburi talked a ninja team down and hustled them for money
    • What has Minami done? (This is mostly an excuse so eaglejarl can write some badass combat scenes here if he wants to)
  • Ask about what we know about the contact we are meeting
  • Get to river and find where our contact is

I think 5E is not nearly as exploitable as 3.5E (at least, I haven't found any world breaking exploits sub level 7, and haven't heard of any world breaking exploits otherwise). Another option is GURPS (Idk shadowrun). Interestingly, I think this was one of the original ideas I had for CoS (that I wound up choosing not to do because I knew I wouldn't get that many players). Regardless, such an idea would live or die based on how many people were interested at the start (since I'm hardpressed to come up with a way it could be publically readable without spoiling the PvP).
