On further consideration, I'd also give about 40% chance that we could make something along the lines of a seal that surrounds the wearer with an ablative chakra construct to protect them from a single shredder pulse, if it comes to that.
But I'm concerned that the radius on a chakra shredder won't be big enough to be easier to line up than an explosive rune, or that it'll allow a CR roll against a not-high-enough TN to resist it, and that we won't find out whether either of these things are the case until we finish the research.

Hmm. Question; given that Remote Explosive Rune turned out to be possible, should we be researching Remote Superchiller instead of trying to make it survive the wind or mess with failure conditions? (Of course, we still have no idea what the range on Remote Explosive is, it could be anywhere from ten metres to ten kilometres, so that might or might not be useful; but it might be easier to research.)
Yes, that's why it would be great. (That and it breaks Sasori's puppets.)

That said, I think this is (yet more!) reason to research Remote Explosion Runes ASAP; knowing how far the "remote" modifier stretches would be extremely useful; even if it isn't the same between different rune effects, it gives us a better idea than we have now of how effective remote runes are likely to be.

Also important to have the ability to revoke someone's IFF credentials, ideally without shutting the whole thing down or building a new one, though that's probably complicated enough it should be saved for a subsequent refinement.
