The issue in the context of the plan/update is that people disagree how honest Hazō was with Yuno. A poll in which we get half a dozen simultaneously very exact and very vague options like this will not help us establish whether he believes in Jashin in any way that would be recognised as belief by someone like Yuno (or most of the rest of the world, which will have a lot of relevance when someone with Deceit 60 asks if he believes in Jashin).
Well, then the poll should be about that. Hazō explicitly said that he is modeling Jashin more like an ally and that he was (and is?) an Uplifter before being a Jashinist. Voting for the first option would make
that a lie, no?
But the second option would mean that we aren't willing to trade and compromise with Jashin. Which is not true for my model of Hazō, nor what I currently support OOC.
Also, what does "believe in Jashin" mean here? Does it count as belief if Hazō thinks that Jashin is very likely to be a) real, b) able to be communicated with, c) potentially useful to Hazō, d) potentially beneficial to humanity (at least currently), e) might have moral worth and values worth taking under consideration? But also that points c to e are up for debate and need further fact finding to confirm?
Accordingly with the plan, the update has been extended to 2 days, and Hazō performed some sealing research off-screen on the second day.
I know I only snow into the thread occasionally due to not having enough time and energy and often seem more complainy than constructive, but this time I honestly think that things are rapidly spinning out of control and that bad bad things are very likely to happen if we the players don't get our collective act together.
We can't keep acting like everything is business as usual, voting for multi-day time skips while our very family is under imminent threat, all the while pushing off A-day plans and decisions for some nebulous later date.
Here's what I currently see as a serious possibility with a decent to high likelihood:
- Yuno either already talked to her husband about Jashinism or will do so tonight (depending on how above time skip worked out)
- Yuno quotes Hazō
- Noburi is horrified like never before and unable to hide it from his wife. He's also unable to reconcile with her.
- Yuno is heartbroken. She does any of the following:
- Go missing
- Mass murder
- Domestic murder-suicide
- Noburi is very resentful of Hazō because Hazō carries a large amount of fault for Hidan being in Leaf and also handled the fallout miserably while subsequently retreating to the sealing lab and/or focusing on other issues. If Noburi survives that is.
- The Gokētsu, still reeling from the reputation hit that Hidan inflicted upon us, gets a much much larger reputation hit that synergizes with the previous one to our detriment.
- We the players concentrate on dealing with the fallout. We are woefully ill prepared for A-day and half-ass a last minute plan that screws over Ami (or forces her to screw over us for her own survival) and plain doesn't work. That is if we don't just lose the race against Sasori outright. Akatsuki wins, we lose so hard that we are a broken Clan even in the hypothetical world where Akatsuki actually creates some form of mostly utopia.
I don't have the perfect answer. Yuno might already have talked to Noburi. But I have some proposals for right now:
- Try to convince eaglejarl to write an interlude because we simply aren't smart and organized enough to solve this in a day or two.
- Make plans that bridge less time until the specific crisis is dealt with. We can't just have a single conversation a day, fail miserably at attaining our goals, go sealing or experimenting with EM for two more days as if nothing happened and have another single conversation that hopefully goes better.
- Once the specific crisis is dealt with and we decide what to do about A-day, skip time in larger badges to make up for the previous short IC time chapters.
- Be fully open and honest about this whole Jashin thing and Yuno's involvement with at least someone in our family as soon as freaking possible. Hazō is not the right person to solve it alone. I suggest Mari or Snowflake or both.
- After having touched ground with less involved family, actually just talk to Noburi. It's his wife and our last attempt to make things better probably just made things worse. Regardless of Jashin's true will, Gokētsu is not the Clan of indiscriminate mass human sacrifice, nor should it ever be. And yet Yuno is family. And she is most likely right about nothing ever previously having resonated with her the way Jashinism did.
