Hmm, I'm pretty sure that capability is known because of Kakashi. I if they ask how we did it I feel like we should answer but I suppose there's no reason to bring it up ourselves

Like in a boss fight - but instead of unleashing a special attack or transitioning to a new form it's just JASHIN INTERRUPT or ROCK VILLAGE USES DIG (it's super effective)

Also do dango and chaos correlate? Like the more insane the char, the more powerful theirnneed for dango see scythe boy and anko mitarashi
 
Hidan is just tons of fun and commands the screen. He's kinda like Orochimaru in that sense, but he does it in a totally different way.

Despite how we might feel about Asuma rn (depending on our levels of suspicion), I really love reading him in general so the fact that he's in the same room and Hazou's here just makes me really really excited to see how this is gonna play out lol

Perhaps relevant, perhaps merely interesting. Hidan knew things about Yuno without ever meeting her, claiming that she was a Jashinite. She also had Jashin's symbol in her wedding, the triangle within a circle.

I feel like this whole section needs a disclaimer "Read Asuma's body language, if he doesn't want you to talk about this, don't". In fact, I think we should have a whole "defer to Asuma's lead when he exercises it" bullet point.

This, and I would go further and say that everything here is the sort of thing Asuma would killbox us for.

We are here to get Hidan's aid to find Akane/confirm her death, not enlist Kakuzu.

Tbh I kinda hope we can just go with them to pitch a lot of this stuff (well, more accurately, Hidan makes us come with them which I'm fine with). I would love to ask Hidan questions about Jashin...

The last one is a reference to canon BS doujutsu combo of Sharingan and Rinnegan, I think? And then do we know the others? I would think at least one references the 5 forbidden clans

Anyway, I'm pretty sure the real reason is Hazō sucking at bargaining and negotiation.

    • (Be ready for a mid-conversation startle.)
  • Goals (descending priority):
    • Don't cause new disasters. Make theirs a smooth and brief visit.
    • Distract Akatsuki from rift research.
    • Target Akane's killers.
    • Gather information on Jashin. Shikamaru was alarmed He's real. Another potential apocalypse?
  • Mindset:
    • Hidan and Kakuzu are impulsive, used to their whims being catered-to. They'll make on-the-spot decisions with far-reaching consequences.
      • That may present priceless momentary opportunities. Look for that.
      • Remain aware they're not idiots.
    • Play a character they'll like. Don't pretend; lean into genuine feelings.
      • Desire for Akane's killers' blood.
      • Irritation at an AMITY violation; a lasting peace being threatened.
      • Interest in Jashin.
      • Willingness to work with monsters (gods or humans) if your interests align.
    • Coordinate with Asuma. Err towards following his cues.
      • Don't treason, but don't worry about looking like a Jashinite. He'll get the tactic.
      • He doesn't, however, know about distracting Akatsuki. Raise the relevant topics (Uplift, Dragonwar) in a way he won't find suspicious.
      • Maintain EM OPSEC.
        • Asuma risking this because of a dead chuunin looks weird, AMITY or not. Does he have a narrative?
        • If no: act as if you've pressured him into this.
      • Avoid actually strong-arming Asuma. (Such as making taxation suggestions Kakuzu'll like and want to force through.)
  • Demeanor: Subtly, carefully cycle through several.
    • Hidan may prefer a laid-back, casually ruthless one.
    • Kakuzu likes... money? Try "pragmatic, business-like".
  • Offer Hidan the peppermint tea.
  • Outline what happened to Akane, mention Hidan's tracking ability (you have Akane's blood stored). Then follow conversational currents.
    • (Maintain OPSEC, primarily on Canvass.)
  • Potential topics. They're strictly subordinate to your goals.
    • Hidan complains you don't write, but he didn't leave contact information.
    • Jashin:
      • What's the Jashinite stance on someone killing your loved one?
      • What's His overarching philosophy? You'd love a bible.
      • Metaphysically, what is He?
        • Does the title "Hierophant" ring a bell?
        • Or (non-metaphorically) "summoning Death"?
        • On O'Uzu, Hidan said Jashin rules life and death...
      • How does Jashin distribute blessings? Blood-tracking, immortality...
    • Risk to AMITY. Determine why they support AMITY, adapt your arguments appropriately.
      • Hidan: Still onboard with Uplift? (More people, more deaths.)
      • Kakuzu: Wants a richer civilization? (Enlightened self-interest.)
    • Large-scale Uplift. Frame them as extending what AMITY achieves?
      • Roads, walls, chakra-beast extermination... (Notably, Akatsuki supported a Wind town before.)
      • Aim: Occupy Kakuzu with one such project.
      • To Hidan, make it sound useful-but-boring. (We don't want him prowling Fire.)
    • Dragons: Another distraction avenue.
      • Invite Akatsuki summoners to crash the Conclave.
      • Nerd-snipe Akatsuki sealmasters with 3D sealing. You and Oro are having to reinvent that whole discipline...
        • The Nagi Island machine may be relevant. Anything they can tell you?
    • How'd Hidan's visit to Rock go?
      • Careful. Mentioning his (apparent?) failure may go poorly.
    • Itachi: Apparently your dear cousin and Ami got into an argument...?
  • Contingency: If it's going south, wind down fancy scheming (not so abruptly it's jarring!) and address the minimal topic (Akane).


Not really happy with the "topics" section, interested to hear suggestions for improvement. Particularly interested in:
  • More ideas on how to distract them.
  • Any Jashin lore hints we've gathered that may be salient to bring up.
  • A way to maneuver things so that Hidan establishes some long-term communication channel with us. (It's fine if it's monitored by Asuma.)

Is this really the lowest priority? I kind of would prefer this above getting intel about Jashin, as much as I want that.

EDIT: Also not sure how useful it is but a fun thought: We can Declare Hazou made a Shadow Clone to ask Mari for advice and pop it so Prime gets the memories :V

The meeting is mainly about Akane, so I expect we'd get that anyway? Whereas Jashin lore may fall by the wayside if it's not prioritized...

I'll vote for this if you remove the Kakuzu section.

Having an Akatsuki member in Leaf is not what Asuma wants. It gives them a greater chance at discovering one of the ANBU stealth missions that all the EN countries totally aren't doing behind AMITY's back. If we want Kakuzu to do the tracking mission, we can just pay his fees.
