We want to leave, not win.

Core type monsters are usually glass cannons. Interesting if the structure of the cavern as a whole has some meaningful shape. Four doors into the crystal room is like four chambers in a heart. Some things about the series of events cast doubt on attacking the core. Why the delay between damaging heart and golems? Several minutes of Earthshaping before they extrude. Did it eat the chakra from Earthshaping to make the golems? Why prevent escape with second golem? Why wall off heart from weaker members of the group? Did damaging the crystal weaken the seal, awakening the power to make golems? No chakra beasts in the main room so it sent them out to fight or keeps them out of the room somehow.

Even if it is not the heart, destroying a 'vital organ' probably stuns the golems. If there were more hearts, would be less hesitant to destroy this one. Prefer to return to the cave one by one in case it moves the whole cave half a kilometer to the left before we come back. Kei second so the Dogs can tell if something went wrong.

Frustrating when people do not agree, but things will turn out better than expected. Stronger together.

[X] Action Plan: Hit the Shiny Weak Spot
Word Count: <300

Plan everything with Kei.

  • Dispel.
  • Assess the situation.
    • Calm down. Deep breaths. Akane and Yuno are competent shinobi. They can win, or at the least retreat.
    • We're low on chakra and don't know what'll be there when we return. OTOH, any enemies won't expect us to show up.
    • We should take the time to heal up and return afterwards, prepared for a fight if it comes down to it.
  • Get ready.
    • Rest up. We want to be at 100% chakra, and no injuries when we return.
    • Get a one-time contract with a high-level combat Dog. Kei has access to Pankurashun (or Pantomaimu?) as combat summons, but Hazou doesn't have anyone: Candoru couldn't beat the golem; Cantelope is FUBAR; and Cangue is not as skilled as Hazou IMO. Ask Cannai for his help (explaining the general situation), then make the appropriate contract while trading with the Dog.
    • Set up seals, jutsu, etc.. When we shift to the Human Path we want to be at full combat readiness.
  • Go.
    • Once we are set to go, pop back into the Human Realm simultaneously. If possible we pop back in with Summons, but if not we should be bleeding in preparation to summon our allies, have Skywalkers activated, and otherwise have seals/weapons in hand.
    • Ignore the golem unless fighting it is faster. Destroy the Heart.
      • Fighting.
        • Kei throws Goo Bombs; Summons bash heads; Hazou...readies a defensive MARS system? NB: Need to figure out what Hazou does.
        • We should keep in mind the other dangers in the cave which may require use of chakra/jutsu.
      • No fighting.
        • Break the separating wall with directional explosives and try to group with Akane/Yuno.
        • Second payload to destroy the Heart.

Regardless of whether destroying the crystal is actually a good idea at the moment (though I think it is) I think a cave collapse specifically is not the worst case scenario. With the seals we carry we could hunker down beneath an air or earth Dome for days to weeks, not to mention a pangolin or Hazou's earth jutsu tunneling us out. I'd be slightly more concerned for Akane and Yuno, assuming they aren't lurking around the mouth of the cave but they can also wait for days to weeks if needed with the same seals, and Hazou can sense them with living roots. The only reason I'd be more concerned for them is they can't really get out under their own power so psychologically it would be kind of scary to wait for Hazou or Kei to bail them out.

how does hunkering down with air/earth domes work?
Cave starts collapsing, Akane and Yuno put down an air dome, then inside the Dome set up a 5SB structure (indestructible and lasts a month) to wait in. They carry portable cabins around so if they're big enough to fit in the Dome they could just use that, but you could use pretty much any random crap they carry in those storage seals.

tunneling jutsu might be uncooperative with the cave's rock
MEW still worked to seal off cavern halls, and it seemed to last (so i don't think it was the chakra construct version). I presumed other Instant effects would also cooperate but admittedly we don't know for sure. Also if the rock is uncooperative because it's alive, killing the crystal could make it work afterwards

Query: Will they be able to set up the Air Dome quickly enough?

I'm def on team blow up the crystal immediately. Whatever decision we make here is high risk. There's just not enough info to really have a firm opinion one way or the other. So trusting my gut

...is the thing you mean here 'if we pop back onto the Human Path and the wall is there but we have no opponents, blow a hole in the wall and then blow up the crystal'?

This is such an unprovoked assault against something that was only defending itself that I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it. Is there a reason beyond being vindictive?

that was only defending itself
I mean it did attempt to mind control us immediately after we showed up and hurt Cantelope. It could've been a misunderstanding etc but like it isn't just a harmless fairy in a cave either. Not to mention that I guess it just captures any humans who come in here since they don't come back out? Maybe they're still down here somewhere...

It is possible the mind control swarm was independent of the Heart. It was near the surface. Swarm could be what villagers called the Lady Below if they never made it deeper than that. "Become one with the Mountain" makes it look like at least some bleedthrough.

Yes. Glass cannons are dangerous with little warning. If it walls both sides of the water passage while we are inside, just one of many deadly things it could do. If this were a biological battery powering one of Orochimaru's dungeons, many circumstances where it would make sense to destroy it. Prefer not to kill it, but destroying the crystal is a voting option that should exist.

We trap our campsites, right? Same deal IMO.

You know, now that Skywalkers are out in the wild, the question begins to be asked: How do you safely trap a floating platform miles in the air?

I mean being a threat to us does not require that either of us be evil. I'm not really trying to weigh in on the morality of it (though I have an eyebrow raised quite high at all the disappearing people). I'm just pointing out that trying to immediately finish it off before it kills us (since the literal last moment we saw it it was trying to kill us) is a pragmatic choice.

It's fine if you don't feel the same way, but I don't really think your admonishment of the course of action is very fair to the person who wrote the plan, specifically "unprovoked assault"... like, it's literally kill or be killed, it was attacking us. I can't say that it's unprovoked anymore. Maybe it will just let us go, and if people are willing to bet on that then that's fine (I mean I voted for faflec's plan too), but I really don't think it's unreasonable to try and immediately win the fight against something that has every reason to want to finish us off first

I'm discussing unprovoked assault in the case where we return and it's just crickets. If it makes a move against us, I think that going after the crystal is a lot less iffy, but we return and can blow a hole in the stone wall unmolested then I think it would be a pretty big dick move to blow the crystal, too.

That said, you're right that there was some more-charged-than-necessary language there and I could/should have been much clearer that I was discussing a very specific case.
