I thought they don't roll over? Also, I don't think our clan can increasingly take more missions to extract said bonus.

The gift pool doesn't roll over month over month, but the rate of skywalker production in Leaf is going to increase as more sealmasters learn it. This'll make the pool larger each month.

Actually yeah let's raise the stakes. @faflec I'd like to ask for access to any seal research they have plus non clan secret techniques and tutors to teach us
Given a player consensus, I'd change it to something like this:
  • Mari:
    • Thank her for her help.
    • Discuss the Hagoromo & Uchiha deals.
      • Uchiha deal:
        • What's the fallout from our Leaf allies/Mist?
        • We have possible changes: How willing are the Uchiha to budge? What will it cost?
          • An active role in raising the kids.
          • An out for the girls that stop giving consent.
          • Some way to keep IN in the Gouketsu.
          • Access to seal research, non-Hiden techniques, tutors.
      • Give our tentative agreement. Make sure to keep things quiet so Hiashi doesn't spring a counteroffer on us.
If you all are OK with adding Oneiros' suggestion, LIKE this post. If not, HUGS this post.

I'd specify very clearly the agreement is tentative but not final. Do not sign a thing just yet.

Maybe consider adding an order of importance? I think we should push harder for the morality stuff than stuff that increases our power, and it's possible that the Uchiha may think of an out for the civilians as us trying to weasel our way out of giving them sharingan babies (for example if we were really horrible to them to make them all quit and go back to the Uchiha).

Ooooooh. Does the MfD budget forecast take into account missions taken?

It assumes we'll take exactly as many missions as necessary to get the full bonus. Based on Radvic's estimates for mission pay (divided by a factor of 12.19 to account for the latest #s on civilian subsistence) I suspect we usually will fall short of that, except during months where Naruto does an A(+)-rank.

How would people feel about promising that any children born the adopted girls who have the iron nerve will be married to an Uchiha when they become chunnin or turn 18?

Eh waiting for Hazo to turn 18 probably took a lot of negotiating on Mari's part, I doubt they would ever agree to wait that long. On the other hand we might be able to do that if we negotiate the age down. At that point though it might just be a lot easier on the IN kids if we let them get adopted and learn the basics on the IN from daddy Hazo in exchange for visitation rights and being a part of his children's lives. That would make it easier on the kids in the longterm I feel, the Uchiha get their Uchiha ninja and Hazo gets to be with his kids when possible.

Something of a tangent. If we end up taking the Uchiha and Hagoromo deals (plus a wide variety of other assumptions about expenses and income) we have ~8 months to fix our financial situation. I reckon we can manage that.

For the curious:
MFD budget forecast
If I may ask, why is the seal elements/month count so low? By my estimates you're modeling Hazou and Kagome only spending about an hour or so a day working on Skywalkers to sell, and I feel like if our other investments weren't maturing somehow we'd be able to scale that up to four or five hours without overburdening them, at least until our investments do start to mature.
By the time thats a thing, it'll probably be a decade and a half from now since IIRC you don't activate your Sharingan for quite a while.

Also, since ninja don't really do much before the age of twelve, we can likely keep that under wraps for a while if it is the case.

As a general observation, I think its best to keep in mind that this deal is a mid to long term obligation that we wont see the true negative effects of for quite a while. In ninjadeathland, that is a truly massive amount of "If"'s to have in a deal. If your deal is reliant on a particular Chunin surviving another couple years, you are a truly desperate pile of motherfuckers, because thats extremely unlikely in universe. Given that Hazou and co manage to flip the table and subsequently slam dunk it through the floor every 9 months or so, I don't really have much faith that the deal will remain the same by the time the child thing becomes relevant.

Its far more likely that everything will be a burnt crater with everyone dead, reality itself will succumb to a hundred sealing failures, or we'll have escalated to the point where renegotiating is at least possible--if not entirely trivial.
In my demographics analysis a little while ago, a few years is not likely to spell the death of a given Chuunin. Specifically, the average chuunin lives for about 11-17 years after getting promoted, so in that paradigm a few years is a risk, but not a major risk. Now, my analysis hasn't been made canonical, but you'd have to skew things a lot in order for Chuunin to only serve a few years after getting promoted.

I like all the changes except the line specifically asking for seals and techniques. Unless I'm missing something about how sharing those things will tie the clans closer together, I really don't see the need to ask for more and give the Uchiha opportunity to ask for more from us when it's just jutsu and seals on the line. The Uchiha's libraries are impressive to be sure, but that's exactly why the Uchiha will charge us through the nose for anything from it, and if that's the case then especially given the subject matter of what we're providing them I'd rather not.

[X] Action Plan: Please No
  • Mari:
    • Thank her for her help.
    • Discuss the Hagoromo & Uchiha deals.
      • Uchiha deal:
        • We are not comfortable with this for a whole host of reasons. There are consent issues, a squicky power dynamic, negative impacts on the mental health and social reputation of everyone involved -- especially the children, Hazou would want his children to have the option of being Gouketsu should they so desire, it's undesirable to give the Uchiha the Iron Nerve if they won't let Gouketsu have Sharingans, and HAZOU ISN'T READY TO BE A FATHER!
        • At the very least this needs to be thouroughly discussed at an all-clan meeting, probably multiple meetings, Naruto included.
      • What can we do to vassalise the Uchiha clan without impregnating anyone?
  • The Mari situation:
    • Thoughts:
      • TLitF's exact mechanics and her eye color changing appear to be related. Whenever she's used TLitF in the past, her eyes changed (grey to blue to green).
      • Since her 'recovery', her eyes've changed color rapidly: green to brown to purple to green.
      • TLitF's 'price' has been implied to negatively affect her mind. Could it be related to her recovery?
    • Tomorrow morning, discuss with Noburi & Akane (high-security room).
      • Akane: What happened in Leaf while we were gone? Anything related to Mari?
      • Fill them in fully, including our thoughts and privateconversations with Mari.
        • Note: TLitF might get us killbox'd. Don't spread the information around.
      • Ask their thoughts. Surely she isn't acting against our interests, but you're worried she's running some self-sacrificial ploy...unless TLitF makes her temporarily sociopathic? You're unsure; did she act a bit off after Tea?
  • Fill Akane in on land-clearing, as per our note.
    • Include discussion on finding buyers; ways to improve the land, such as irrigation; as well as possible profits, like from chakra monster parts and lumber.
    • Ask her to offer Tsunade ~25% profit if she'll help with legal/political problems.
  • Send invitations for later this week:
    • Shikamaru: Discuss Nara rebuilding/construction assistance.
    • Team Nakano & Jinno: Make them retainers
  • Check on civilians.

Ah, good point. Ehhhhh. Still applies in our specific case I feel.

From a certain point of view, children all over the world can't choose who their family is, or who their mother or father is.

I left the skywalker estimates fairly low (80 minutes/day) since I don't know how much time we'll be spending on politics, training, research, other seals, and so forth. The Tower's monthly tithe takes one hour per day, and we go through explosive notes at a breathtaking rate.

You're right, though. If our finances got into troubled waters our sealmasters probably would increase production. Four hours/day would entirely cover our expenses.

I'm tempted to suggest just making the deal contingent. If Hyuuga gets the hat, nothing else matters, because Goketsu won't exist in a year's time. What we care about is Hyuuga not getting the hat.

So, just post a bounty on Hyuuga not getting the hat. Let them do their own math on whether it's worth it to them. Maybe they vote against him. Maybe they flip a clan so they can abstain while he still doesn't get the hat. Perhaps they pull out some old blackmail which flips two clans so they can still vote for him. Perhaps he unexpectedly succumbs to his injuries the night before the vote- we don't care. If Hyuuga does not get the hat for any reason, the deal is on. Otherwise, no deal.

Of course, we reserve the right to rescind the bounty at any point up to the deciding moment if we find a better way to invest our resources towards the goal of Hyuuga not getting the hat, because such is the risk they take in not just agreeing to vote against him in a hard deal in the same way we take the risk that they might at any point withdraw the offer to abstain.

It's a gamble, but it leaves our resources free to swing clans more willing to commit, and it hammers home just how serious we are about how important it is for Hyuuga to not get the hat.

@faflec please consider the wisdom of the above deity

@faflec given that the main dividing issue on this vote seems to be the Uchiha deal and there is to my knowlege one No plan, do you think it would be a good idea to merge your two current plans (both of which are yes but reservations to the Uchiha deal IIRC) into one so we avoid splitting the Yes vote and get an accurate count on the thread's opinion?

This quest uses approval voting. You may vote for both. (and, in fact, I have)

It's approval voting, so that shouldn't be an issue. If the faflec plan I'm not voting for takes the lead but the No plan threatens it, I'll be able to approval vote for the winning faflec plan to express that I would prefer it winning over the No plan.
