You know, Mist has the Condor summoner. We could send word through the Pangolins and oppressed Condor clan that Keiko's getting married. I suspect they don't like Keiko very much, but if we offered some benefit to them, maybe they'd pass the message along? Alternatively, If they have half a brain they're probably terrified of Ami, and letting them know that we're going to tell Ami later we've done this and not helping will bring down her fury upon them is likely enough to ensure cooperation.

The question then becomes, can Ami get from Mist to Leaf in a little over a day's travel time? And is she willing to leave the clusterfuck of chaos going on in Mist right now to do so? These are her ideal conditions and she's probably getting a great deal done, so there's a good chance that even if she could make it she couldn't afford to be away for that long right now.

On the other hand, her sister's marriage.

Hey maybe we can suggest Ami get the Condor summoning scroll.
I'd actually be pretty strongly against that, given Keiko and Ami's relationship - the Pangolins treating the Condors terribly sucks and we can't do much about it, but Keiko would absolutely try and do something about it if it was inconveniencing Ami. And right now, we are absolutely reliant on the Pangolin gold keeping the clan afloat.

Yeah, it could go either way really. Of course, the point's moot if the Pangolins can't ram a message through the oppressed Condors to their summoner in time, or Ami can't travel fast enough to make it.

It's not really intended for Ami to uh. Use in combat.

It's intended to keep her in touch with Kei.

That would be nice, except that they're also a major combat boost if they're allowed to help her. It places her in a position where the clan will likely push for her to act against the Pangolins or their summoner. Similarly, it will be immediately obvious to Keiko that Ami's summons - and by extension, her - would be much better off if they weren't being stamped down on by the Pangolins, whose actions Keiko already feels terrible about.

It might work out if she gets the scroll in a few years' time though, if the Pangolins can stamp out all resistance - they can give it out as a privilege to a member of their summoner's family, with the understanding (and control/surveillance in place to ensure) that any actions taken must be at least net-neutral to the Pangolin clan. Even then, I'd still expect it to be another weight on Keiko's already terrible habit of blaming herself for things.

Had to skip a couple chapters to get caught up and vote in time.

This is absolutely positively a scenario where Mad-Eye Moody tier paranoia is required. We need to stack the deck as much as possible so that this cannot be reasonably considered contentious.

If we win by one vote (i.e. the Gouketsu vote at the end of the day) for example, Hiashi is going to call major bullshit, and he'd have a lot of people behind him. If we win by a handful, he can't do shit.

Jiriaya might have still made the same calculation later on for Gouketsu's legitimacy if he survives or for it's safety if he died. Having a one-man clan voting equally to those representing dozens of members could be very dangerous if there's any case that it's a facade like him practically being a Gouketsu.

While I very much understand why, it's a bit unfortunate how hard we are committing to the jerrymandering of votes here. 7 people being a 3 vote block is a bit ridiculous, and I honestly wouldn't blame Hiashi (that much) for being salty over it if it's close. Even moreso, if we include the last (ninja) Uchiha.

[X] Action Plan: Party Growth

Lore update would be cool, but I am actively excited to see the plot progress right now, and the plan seems perfectly fine and optimized.

It isn't gerrymandering. This is an oligarchy not a democracy.

We're definitely planning to pack the seats using political shenanigans and technicalities, though. Same sort of thing, even if the official term is something else.
I'm okay with playing fast and dirty if it means we win at the end of the day. Current power system is really just an excuse to keep things in the control of a handful of stuffy old dudes anyway, so if we can rules lawyer it in a way that effectively turns that on its end that would be great.

Again, I can't imagine Ami needing to actually be told that the wedding is imminent. Simple geography would have meant that Mist found out that Shikaku and Jiraiya died before even Leaf did. She's met Shikamaru and given the circumstances no doubt constructed a profoundly thorough model of him. The implications are obvious. She and Yukino have probably already been in Leaf for days.

Again, she's likely got her hands full dealing with the chaotic political situation in Mist, both in terms of things she wants to get done to take advantage of the huge opportunities she finds herself with, and also in that even Ami can only think of so many things at once.

I find this convincing.

[x] Let Velorien invite Ami to the wedding under this absolutely viable sequence of events and assumptions, I trust him.

I would. It's not a democracy; this has no real legitimacy fromt he governed. If Hiashi wants to complain about "the majority not having a say" I will mock him mercilesly, as soon as I get done laughing.

With regards to anything involving Ami, all agency is just an illusion. The fastest way to convince Mari she isn't actually a puppetmaster would be to have her meet Ami. By the end of next week Ami will be writing @Velorien's life.
You joke, but this is a serious concern.

Less than 24 hours after the chapter in which Ami caused some chaos and Zabuza interrupts our game night, I was treated to this email:

I am now mildly concerned that we are tampering with forces beyond our reckoning.

The AMI is watching...
