We should ask Hana about politics. Since she used to be a clan heir probably has some good tips. Also see if she can give us a crash course in using the social aspects of the Iron nerve

Huh, seems like we have some wordcount to use.

Make seal blanks for the next 6 hours, hand them off to the strike team before either of you leave Mist.

Maybe specify which ones? We can't scribe the Skywalker variant Jiraiya can infuse apparently, so some combination of Goo Bombs and Banshee Fuckers?

Say bye to Mom, thanks for the advice about killing intent.
  • (Jokingly) Please don't mess with Zabuza, take it from us its a bad idea.

Instead of the Zabuza joke:
  • *gallows humor* So, any advice on being a clan heir?
  • The next few months are probably going to be tough. Hazou will find a way to keep in touch, though. Everything is going to be ok.
  • So please don't do anything... excessive, allright? Trust us?

On the way back to Leaf:
  • Socialize with your fellow Leaf ninja.

And be careful about OPSEC when it comes to the operation. The clan heirs can probably be assumed to know, but let's not take any chances.

Get back to Leaf.
  • Update Mari and Kagome on everything.
  • What's happened while we were away?
  • Steel yourself for the inevitable reveal that everything has gone to heck since you left, and that you (of course) now need to fix everything.
    • In case of super traumatic news, make sure no one leaves the compound to do anything stupid.
      • This goes double for yourself.

Hug Mari, tell her it's good to see her. We kind of left things at Hazou being horrified at her admission to killing her uncle. Let's make clear we don't hold that against her.

[x] Action Plan: Tangent
The general idea is to ignore leaf politics entirely(or delegate) and do tangential stuff assuming it'll work out fine.
- Fulfill our existing obligations. (Making seals, meeting mom, etc.)
- Talk to team about solidifying their public personas:
* All deception/manipulation plans must be executed through nobby, regardless of who comes up with the idea.
** Nobby: Shikamaru recently bartered for 2 hours of Shikaku's time. See if we can weasel out fifteen minutes since we created that opportunity. ==> MUHAHAHA, short term OP minion.
* All intimidation tactics must go through Keiko.
** Keiko: Research intimidation tactics that work on Rock Lee.
* All #youth drama should be executed by Hazo
** Hazo: reach out to Hinata. Most of the instability in leaf comes from Hyuga vs. rest drama. Just because our pops are opposed doesn't mean we should be.
** Hazo: Call in Ami's favor for thirty minutes with Mori Ryugamine. From what I understand, he's a non-frozen-skein-orthogonal-tactics guy, and we have much to learn.
- Focus on empowering villages near leaf. Trade MEW/beast hunting for a small spy network independent of Jiraya's.
- Talk to Tsunade about the Sunny-Jira-Oro team dynamic. Ask what made them compatible/OP.

Cons:
- Leaf politicking continues unhindered.
- Plan will probable be blindsided by short term emergencies

Pros:
- Foundational work we can call on later.

I'm not writing this update so it's not super important what I think, and the plan is perfectly serviceable, but it's a little dull. You're going to be acting head of the clan. You don't want to get too crazy, but this is your chance to be active and start on your various plans. Something to think about.

Just making sure it's okay for me to propose multiple plans.
I'm just throwing stuff at a wall to see what people's preferences are like, but if it's causing too much noise, ill hold back.

You can make as many plans as you want, but unless the plans diverge significantly from each other it's generally a good idea to keep one plan and make edits to it. More people vote for it that way, you see.

But, but, but, but, chaos?

edit: this makes sense, I'm just being a derp. Thanks faflec, ill keep that in mind.

[X] Let @Velorien write what he wants as long as we get 10 XP/day, talk to Orochimaru and marry Ami.

or

[x] Action Plan: Yeet the dab

I can't decide.

@eaglejarl, @Velorien, @OliWhail: quick question, which seems like a thing we should know by now:

  • Can we write multiple independent seals on a large sheet of paper?
    • I.e I have a long scroll, can I write a storage seal on one end and a macerator on the other end and still have them work independently?
I'm mostly asking because it seems like Jiraya could use a party book. (A scroll with storage seals containing good food, snacks, cake, maybe a few foldable chairs/tables, alcohol, tea, confetti, etc...)

He's doing a really tough job, and easy access to some things he finds comforting can really help keep his/other's morale up when out counts.

@everyone else:

  • If we haven't already, we should hand Jiraya every sealed meal and drink we have. Potentially have Noburi go out and fill up a bunch more from restaurants and shops.
Seriously, they are going to ride hard to get to Nagi, if having field rations gives them a tiny benefit in the fight it's worth it.

  • Presumably the toads can detect if their summoner dies. Having Keiko wait in the summon realm with the toads/pangolin during the critical period of the fight let's us get notice of the outcome early so we can prepare.
I think this was already implied in the last plan, but making it explicit seems like a good idea.

I don't see why we can't be serious about Hana. After what she pulled in Leaf, I don't trust her and neither do I care if Hazo looked like a fool.

Thanks. Will implement these in a bit, I have to--

Hmmm.

Since Ej thinks yeet the dab is boring I'll do my best

[X] Action plan: playing politics
  • Make seal blanks for the next 6 hours,
    • Scribe whatever Jiraiya thinks is best
      • If there's anything he wants us to try that we haven't done yet we will
    • hand them off to the strike Jiraiya before either of you leave Mist.
    • Offer to keep scribing on the road and give him more through the pangolins
  • Say bye to Mom, thanks for the advice about killing intent.
    • Ask if she has any advice about politics
    • Also if she has any tips for leveraging the Iron nerve in social situation
  • On the way back to Leaf:
    • Socialize with your fellow Leaf ninja.
    • Be wary of an ambushes
  • Get back to Leaf.
    • Invite Sasuke to dinner
      • Only do this if Mari is ok with it and if she is in the mental state to help
    • Ask Kei to start building a dossier on the merchant council
      • There current financial situation
      • Any dirty secrets
      • Find out which ones are most pro Goketsu
    • Update Mari and Kagome on everything.

We shouldn't be inviting possible drama(The Sasuke) which gets us sidetracked for at least another three chapters before the result of the battle comes in. At the very least speed us along so we can get the results from Battle of Nagi Island.

You don't want to get too crazy, but this is your chance to be active and start on your various plans. Something to think about.

I think the reason the plan is kinda dull is because there's so much up in the air right now. There's a few unresolved issues that would change how we would approach things and we won't really know the answers until we get back to Leaf or in some cases until the Battle of the Gods 2 is over with.

I personally think it would be a bad idea to make huge political moves. If Jiraiya comes home a few days later with minor bruising and finds out we adopted half of the city into our clan and are now allied as a vassal clan to the Hyuga, there will likely be consequences to that, even if it seemed like a great idea in his absence.

In the more immediate timeframe, I think we need to know Mari's and Akane's (and to a lesser extent Kagome's) condition before we're sure of what we really want to do. If we come home and everything's on fire, then that changes the way we approach things drastically. I wouldn't want to work on our refining flour milling plan if it turns out Tsunade put a hole in Akane and Mari's a barely moving vegetable (not that I think that's likely).

What's the policy on Conditional plans?

Because if we're allowed to do some if/then statements, then I imagine we could get around these issues... though I think it has the potential to snowball into huge plans being created.

We should probably hold off from major changes but I guess we could start on the economic side of our plans. Start building up contacts and introducing leaf merchants to the mist merchants that followed us back and weaving our web.

We could also get started on looking into young ninja worth adopting. I'm still all for asking Tenten and Akane both and we can look into more.

We have a bit of wiggle room. Let's take what we can get while its here-- as long as whatever it is doesn't alienate future prospects or burn us all to cinder and ash or turn us into squids etc etc.

I guess the question would be: Is there anything we want, that we'd normally have to excessively nag and bribe Jiraiya for, but that he won't be genuinely upset at us doing in his absence? We promised we wouldn't do the Sasuke lunch without his explicit approval, so I think that might be pushing it. On the other hand, the situation has changed and we're facing a very plausible prospect of Jiraiya not coming back, in which case we're going to need all the help we can get. Tough one.

Any other ideas?

[x] Action Plan: Balls To The Wall
The general idea is to go high-risk high-reward because in-universe, the world might end tomorrow.
- Make seal blanks, but don't meet mom. Drop her a letter saying you miss her, but there's shit to do. Also if anybody dares touch her, Mist is going to pay(she'll think it's adowwable).
- Go meet Zabuza. From what we've seen of him so far, he's not that hard to manipulate. Dont use provocation tactics, but use flattery and idealism to see if he'll slip who put him to it.
- (Optional, if time permits) Ask Ikeda out, now that the tournament is over. Be overly flirtatious. See if she'll tell you more about Sand.
- On the way back, start a (previously co-ordinated) punch off with Nobby. See who tries to exploit the divide.
- Talk to Keiko in private. Hint that if she wants to call off the marriage with Shikamaru, Hazo can make it happen. We don't have a way yet, but if that's what she wants, we'll probably whip something up.

After getting back:
- Brief Kagome, but not Mari. Talk to her only when she takes the initiative to ask. Otherwise try to shield her from issues so she can focus on recuperating. If she does force the issue, tell her it makes you happy how much she cares. (she'll think its adowwable youre trying to manipulate her).
- Offer Mari fifty seconds of hair ruffles for a smile. :)
- Obtain a copy of Leaf's skywalker-assisted combat manifesto and train as a team. Cat's out of the bag anyway, so you're free to use this on missions.
- Compile dossier on Leaf Chunin exam candidate teams, with general tendencies/ideologies. Document actionable social-fu tactics for downing each team.
- Encounter with Ami showed us how useful it is to have a civilian support network. Have the Uplift trio case leaf for useful civilians to know/be friends with. Intelligence training + get a network.

Cons:
- High Risk.

Pros:
- High Payoff.

Maybe we could do investigation into the Merchant Council and its rules?

Regarding the Sasuke situation, IIRC we could also get Mari's approval? We would just have to get her back to normal*.
