Skywalker origins are definitely out of the bag...

It would have been nice to realize that earlier. We could have used them during the exams. Hazou flies down, seamlessly swims underground, pops up in a grapple, tanks two explosive tags on his layered armor jutsu, then flies away laughing as claymore clones run around hugging people. The swamp would have been fun.

But then skywalkers and exotic seals would get banned.

Sadly, knowledge of Zabuza's survival was all OOC information, and if Jiraiya realized we used Skywalkers he would have killed us.

Side note: when I typed out killed autocorrect changed it to liked. Wtf.

List of things Chunin examnee are not allowed to do:

1) Bring siege weapon to tournament bouts
2) Have multiple shadow clones get ranked
3) Use 'exotic' seals like goo bombs
4) Mind control proctors

Shin is our age and most of the shit done to Hana and her family was before he was even born. Hazou barely recognized Shin even when they were in the same class at Academy, so there probably wasn't any bullying or similar. If Shin was actually responsible for any new suffering that happened it would imply that he's far more competent than his CE showing would suggest.

I don't count his CE actions, BTW. He's doing that because he thinks we're traitors, not because of what Hana did.

Sorry, I was just expressing my dislike of his general smugness in a very sarcastic fashion.

Have multiple shadow clones get ranked

I read this fic a while ago where through the power of Shadow Clones + Henge, Naruto was actually 70% of the popultion of the chunin exam that made it to the 3rd event.

On the seemingly very heated Zabuza topic, I feel like this isn't the place or time to approach him. As a sucker for thematic and emotional closure, I'm very keen to interact with him in some manner, but I don't see the game night as an opportunity to do that; rather, it seems like a wild gamble, putting a lot of disparate elements together and hoping they mix to result in awesomeness. It seems very likely to me that Zabuza would see the invitation as a taunt and either ignore it, or come with the intent of ruining the fun. It seems very unlikely that we'd get the kind of wacky and heartwarming hijinks he and Yukino got up to in their interludes. It's just doesn't seem like a good value proposition. The game night is going to be a handful as is, without introducing more wildcards into play.

This might seem hypocritical coming from the head ideologue of the Ami date movement. However, keep in mind that a lot of work was done in planning for the Ami meetings, a rather thorough risk assessment took place, and the resultant plans were, in my opinion, among the tightest this quest has seen. Zabuza, in my opinion, demands a similar level of effort in order to achieve good results. For example, I think asking for an opportunity to have tea with him at his family residence sounds like a much better opening move, and I'd be willing to vote for that.

As is:

@faflec I will say that I rather like @Noumero's section on game night preparation. What's your opinion on including that?

Skywalker capabilities are out of the bag, we don't know if Zabuza knows anything about how exactly Leaf-nin are running on air.

Further, they're only out of the bag to Mist, and with Leaf and Mist teaming up there's still a very real interest in keeping them secret from the likes of Cloud and Rock, who are most likely going to be our enemies in WW4.

But yeah, if everyone knew Skywalkers were a thing, it'd be really fun to cheese the exams with them.

If you think about it that situation could have been faked with the Pangolin scroll alone.

Have Keiko summon both Panjadrum to throw us far into the distance, have Panjandrum dispel himself and have another, lighter Pangolin clean up the marks Panjandrum made before dispelling itself.

Then summon both to the new location and repeat.

Given enough chakra water this is - if tedious and slow - doable.

Leaf nin were visibly flying/airstepping in the Battle of the Gods.

That I would given enough support. I'll add it once I get home tonight, copy + pasting on a phone sucks.

I support this as well. Also, there's one thing @Noumero didn't mention and I would like to add if its ok with everyone else:
  • Make sure you have enough board games, or hire someone to make replicas
After all, I doubt Velorien mentioned it without purpose

[x] Poll: Learn to tolerate Ren

I don't think that it's be physically possible, barring mad acts of Jashin, for Hazou to truly 'make up' with Ren. Hazou's had years of being pissed on by the Kurosawa clan, who really are the reason for his miserable upbringing. From Hazou's POV (or my perspective of Hazou's) Ren is only helping Hana because of political convenience, and otherwise is trying to keep her at an arm's distance (literally, since she's living in an house not even in the compound). He doesn't have enough of a reason for them to make up.

What I could see Hazou doing, instead, is to tolerate Ren. She's a person of political power and can be useful, and the fact that she's the head of the clan that fucked Hazou's childhood over isn't enough of a reason for us to not make use of her as a resource. It's like Hana and Mari, except Hana barely bothered with the 'tolerate' part.

With that in mind, I don't think Hazou can go very far with tolerating Ren for long. Over a decade of poverty is a long time to overcome. What I would recommend is in line with what @Inferno Vulpix suggested: use Shin, since he definitely isn't responsible for our suffering, and learning to tolerate him is the first step to learning to tolerate Ren.

I totally support this idea. I personally feel that our best bet to get Hazō on board is to to some variation of I don't have to like her to use her

He doesn't have to like her, but I would like Hazō to give the new generation a chance, because they weren't involved in the whole thing. Plus, being taught to hate Hazō is not their fault.

[x] Training Hazou: Do Not Cancel Empathy Drip

Dealing with Zabuza is a lot like dealing with Ami.
There's her fun and hilarious meme self, which we think of when making the decision to approach her.
Then there's reality, where it's a raving mad jonin that you willingly put yourself in close proximity of.

And Ami, unlike Zabuza, is family. Keiko's family, but dear family.

And every time we speak with Ami, it's like doing drugs- great if overwhelming at first, with a terrible hangover after.
I don't think it'll be even this fun with the guy whose sole mission was to kill us.

Damn. Talk about omake ideas.

Both plans have been updated to include brainstorming for game night. Word count is getting bigger, please post suggestions for decreasing said word count if you have ideas.
[X] The Kurosawa Blood

Word Count: 263
  • Run the plan through Jiraiya, Noburi, and Keiko (unless already done).
    • Also, brainstorm game night + possible problems:
      • What does the guest list look like, and what shenanigans can people pull with plus-twos (e.g., Shin bringing Ren)?
      • Are there any teams that would make Bad Things happen?
      • What games to include? Should we modify them (e.g., increase difficulty)?
        • Draw from previous experiences (ISC games) and assume players are better than Hazou at munchkinry and metagaming.
      • Do we have enough games? Maybe hire someone to make replicas.
      • What conflicts could happen, and how should we deescalate?
      • Contingencies for potential disasters.
  • Lunch with Shin.
    • Guidelines:
      • Observe OPSEC, stay alert, avoid hard commitments.
      • Be confident. Shin isn't a jounin.
      • He is a silver-tongued viper. Keep your cool. Respond to taunts/manipulations with dry amusement.
    • Start the interaction amicably.
      • Minor flexing: casually name-drop Ami for the regulars' menu. Mention your promotion, ask about his.
    • Elaborate on your offer/intentions:
      • Cooperation was our motto all exam. We're here to build bridges.
      • We're also offering an enormous boost to his career here.
      • (As a callback, order a bottle of Kurohige's Revenge and glasses (shallow pours, save the rest).)
      • Ask for his response ("So what's it gonna be?").
    • Invite him to game night.
  • Go see Hana again.
    • No fighting, spend some nice time with your mom.
    • Confide about the Ami debacle. Avoid details that might breach OPSEC.
      • How do you deal with people like that?
      • The hell is with that Jonin aura crap anyway? It sucks.
    • Give her the biggest of bear hugs.
    • Invite her to game night.
Added a brief section to my plan stating to run things through with the Goketsu (if not already done).

  • Invite Zabuza to game night.
    • Stop by the Momochi residence, with sufficient protection.
      • ...or maybe just send a messenger.
    • Reasoning:
      • Zabuza is a man who symbolizes the epitome of ninja culture. He is nothing if not a brutal, efficient killer, free of remorse or guilt or compassion, a willing tool of death and destruction. He has no reason at all to care for our ideals, and likely thinks little more of the alliance with Leaf.
      • But ultimately, if we are to succeed in our goals, we'll have to deal with those like him, and what better a place to start? When will we ever have an opportunity like this again? We will extend him an invitation to game night, and take one tiny step towards lasting peace and prosperity through fellowship and glorious munchkinry.

I kinda have the opposite :)

It may have sense to ask Hana to show her aura since we'll be on topic. We have too little information regarding it, so every bit counts
